1 Crónicas 16

1 Así fue como el arca de Dios fue transportada y puesta en medio de la tienda que David había mandado levantar para ella. Y se ofrecieron delante de Dios holocaustos y sacrificios de paz,2 y cuando David acabó de ofrecer el holocausto y los sacrificios de paz, bendijo al pueblo en el nombre del Señor3 y repartió entre todos y cada uno de los israelitas, hombres y mujeres, una torta de pan, un trozo de carne y una torta de pasas.

4 Delante del arca del Señor David puso algunos levitas, para que ministraran, e invocaran, confesaran y alabaran al Señor, Dios de Israel.5 En primer lugar puso a Asaf, seguido de Zacarías, Yeguiel, Semiramot, Yejiel, Matatías, Eliab, Benaías, Obed Edom y Yeguiel, todos ellos con sus salterios y arpas, pero Asaf tocaba los címbalos.6 También los sacerdotes Benaías y Jahaziel tocaban continuamente las trompetas delante del arca del pacto de Dios.

Salmo de acción de gracias

7 Ese día, David puso por primera vez a Asaf y sus parientes a cargo de las alabanzas al Señor. Y cantaron:

8 ¡Alaben al Señor, invoquen su nombre!
¡Que los pueblos reconozcan sus obras!
9 ¡Canten, sí, cántenle salmos!
¡Proclamen todas sus maravillas!
10 ¡Regocíjense en su santo nombre!
¡Alégrense de corazón los que buscan al Señor!
11 ¡Busquen el poder del Señor!
¡Busquen siempre a Dios!
12 ¡Recuerden sus grandes maravillas,
sus hechos prodigiosos y sus sabias sentencias!
13 Ustedes son los descendientes de Abrahán;
ustedes son los hijos de Jacob, sus escogidos.
14 El Señor es nuestro Dios;
en toda la tierra prevalecen sus juicios.
15 Nunca se olvida de su pacto,
de la palabra que dictó para mil generaciones.
16 Fue un acuerdo que hizo con Abrahán,t
y que lo confirmó con Isaac.t
17 Con Jacob lo estableció como decreto;
con Israel lo hizo un pacto duradero

18 cuando dijo: «Te daré la tierra de Canaán
como la herencia que te corresponde.»t


19 Ellos no eran numerosos;
eran unos simples forasteros.
20 Andaban de nación en nación,
y de un reino a otro reino;
21 pero Dios no dejó que lo agraviaran,
sino que por ellos castigó a los reyes

22 y dijo: «¡No toquen a mis ungidos!
¡No les hagan daño a mis profetas!»t


23 ¡Canten al Señor todos en la tierra!
¡Anuncien su salvación todos los días!
24 ¡Canten entre los pueblos su gloria!
¡Anuncien entre los pueblos sus maravillas!
25 El Señor es grande, y digno de alabanza;
¡es temible, más que todos los dioses!
26 Todos los dioses de los pueblos son ídolos,
pero el Señor es quien creó los cielos.

27 En su presencia hay alabanza y magnificencia;
en su santuario hay poder y gloria.


28 Ustedes, familias de los pueblos,
¡tributen al Señor la gloria y el poder!
29 ¡Tributen al Señor la honra que merece su nombre!
¡Traigan sus ofrendas, y vengan a su presencia!
¡Adoren al Señor en la hermosura de la santidad!t
30 ¡Tiemblen ante él todos en la tierra!
El Señor afirmó el mundo, y no será conmovido.
31 ¡Que se alegren los cielos y se regocije la tierra!
Digan entre las naciones: «¡El Señor es rey!»
32 ¡Que brame el mar y todo lo que contiene!
¡Que se alegre el campo y todo lo que hay en él!

33 ¡Que todos los árboles del bosque rebosen de gozo
delante del Señor, que viene a juzgar la tierra!


34 ¡Aclamen al Señor, porque él es bueno;
porque su misericordia es eterna.t

35 Digan: «¡Sálvanos, Dios de nuestra salvación!
¡Vuelve a reunirnos, y líbranos de las naciones!
¡Así alabaremos tu santo nombre
y nos alegraremos con tus alabanzas!»

36 ¡Bendito sea el Señor y Dios de Israel,
desde la eternidad y hasta la eternidad!

Y todo el pueblo dijo «Amén», y alabó al Señor.

Los levitas encargados del arca

37 David dejó a Asaf y a sus parientes delante del arca del pacto del Señor, para que ministraran todo el tiempo delante del arca, cada cosa en su día.38 Al cuidado del arca puso a Obed Edom y a sus sesenta y ocho parientes, y también a Obed Edom hijo de Jedutún y a Josá.39 Al sacerdote Sadoc y a sus parientes los sacerdotes los puso delante del tabernáculo del Señor, en el lugar alto que estaba en Gabaón,40 para que todos los días, a mañana y tarde, ofrecieran sacrificios y holocaustos al Señor en el altar del holocausto, conforme a todo lo que está escrito en la ley que el Señor prescribió a Israel.41 Con ellos puso a Hemán y Jedutún y a los otros escogidos por nombre, para que glorificaran al Señor, cuya misericordia es eterna.42 Para alabar a Dios, Hemán y Jedutún tocaban las trompetas y los címbalos y otros instrumentos musicales. Los hijos de Jedutún vigilaban la entrada.

43 Después de esto, todo el pueblo se fue a su casa, y también David se fue a bendecir su propia casa.t

1 They put the sacred chest inside the tent that David had set up for it, then they offered sacrifices to please the [Lord]t and sacrifices to ask his blessing.t 2 After David had finished, he blessed the people in the name of the [Lord]

3 and gave every person in the crowd a small loaf of bread, some meat, and a handful of raisins.
4 David appointed some of the Levites to serve at the sacred chest; they were to play music and sing praises to the [Lord] God of Israel. 5 Asaph was their leader, and Zechariah was his assistant. Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and another man named Jeiel were appointed to play small harps and stringed instruments. Asaph himself played the cymbals,

6 and the two priests Benaiah and Jahaziel were to blow trumpets every day in front of the sacred chest.

David's Song of Praise

(Psalms 105.1-15; 96.1-13; 106.1,47, 48)

7 That same day, David instructed Asaph and his relatives for the first time to sing these praises to the [Lord]:

8 Praise the [Lord]
and pray in his name!
Tell everyone
what he has done.

9 Sing praises to the [Lord]!
Tell about his miracles.

10 Celebrate and worship
his holy name
with all your heart.

11 Trust the [Lord]
and his mighty power.
Worship him always.

12 Remember his miracles
and all his wonders
and his fair decisions.

13 You belong to the family
of Israel, his servant;
you are his chosen ones,
the descendants of Jacob.

14 The [Lord] is our God,
bringing justice
everywhere on earth.

15 We must never forget
his agreement and his promises,
not in thousands of years.

16 t God made an eternal promise

17 to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

18 when he said, “I'll give you
the land of Canaan.”

19 At the time there were
only a few of us,
and we were homeless.

20 We wandered from nation
to nation, from one country
to another.

21  t God did not let anyone
mistreat our people.
Instead he protected us
by punishing rulers

22 and telling them,
“Don't touch my chosen leaders
or harm my prophets!”

23 Everyone on this earth,
sing praises to the [Lord].
Day after day announce,
“The [Lord] has saved us!”

24 Tell every nation on earth,
“The [Lord] is wonderful
and does marvelous things!

25 The [Lord] is great and deserves
our greatest praise!
He is the only God
worthy of our worship.

26 Other nations worship idols,
but the [Lord] created
the heavens.

27 Give honor and praise
to the [Lord],
whose power and beauty
fill his holy temple.”

28 Tell everyone of every nation,
“Praise the glorious power
of the [Lord].

29 He is wonderful! Praise him
and bring an offering
into his temple.
Worship the [Lord],
majestic and holy.

30 Everyone on earth, now tremble!”
The world stands firm,
never to be shaken.

31 Tell the heavens and the earth
to be glad and celebrate!
And announce to the nations,
“The [Lord] is King!”

32 Command the ocean to roar
with all of its creatures
and the fields to rejoice
with all of their crops.

33 Then every tree in the forest
will sing joyful songs
to the [Lord].
He is coming to judge
all people on earth.

34  t Praise the [Lord]
because he is good to us,
and his love never fails.

35 Say to him, “Save us, [Lord] God!
Bring us back
from among the nations.
Let us celebrate and shout
in praise of your holy name.

36 [Lord] God of Israel,
you deserve to be praised
forever and ever.”
After David finished, the people shouted, “Amen! Praise the [Lord]!”

David Appoints //Worship Leaders //at Jerusalem and Gibeon

38 Obed-Edom and 68 of his relatives were their assistants, and Hosah and Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun were the guards.
39 David also chose Zadok the priest and his relatives who were priests to serve at the [Lord]'s sacred tent at Gibeon. 40 They were to offer sacrifices on the altar every morning and evening, just as the [Lord] had commanded in the Law he gave Israel. 41 t Heman and Jeduthun were their assistants, as well as the other men who had been chosen to praise the [Lord] for his never-ending love.

42 Heman and Jeduthun were also responsible for blowing the trumpets, and for playing the cymbals and other instruments during worship at the tent. The Levites in Jeduthun's clan were the guards at Gibeon.
43  t After that, everyone went home, and David went home to his family.
