Jakobs sønner

1 Dette var Israels sønner: Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issakar, Sebulon, s2 Dan, Josef og Benjamin, Naftali, Gad og Asjer.

Judas etterkommere

3 Judas sønner var Er og Onan og Sjelah. Disse tre fikk han med Sjuas datter, en kana’aneisk kvinne. Men Er, Judas førstefødte, mishaget Herren, og han lot ham dø. s4 Hans svigerdatter Tamar fødte ham Peres og Serah, så at Judas sønner var fem i alt. s5 Peres’ sønner var Hesron og Hamul. s6 Og Serahs sønner var Simri* og Etan og Heman og Kalkol og Dara, til sammen fem. t7 Og Karmis* sønn var Akar**, han som førte Israel i ulykke, fordi han bar seg troløst at med det bannlyste godset. tt8 Etans sønn var Asarja. 9 Hesron fikk sønnene Jerahme’el og Ram og Kelubai*. st10 Og Ram fikk sønnen Amminadab, Amminadab fikk sønnen Nahson, høvding for Judas barn. 11 Nahson fikk sønnen Salma, Salma fikk sønnen Boas, 12 Boas fikk sønnen Obed, og Obed fikk sønnen Isai.

13 Isai fikk Eliab, som var hans førstefødte sønn, og Abinadab hans andre sønn, Sjimea den tredje, s14 Netanel den fjerde, Raddai den femte, 15 Osem den sjette, David den sjuende. s16 Og deres søstre var Seruja og Abiga’il. Serujas sønner var Absai og Joab og Asael, tre i tallet. s17 Abiga’il fødte Amasa, og Amasas far var ismaelitten Jeter. s

18 Kaleb, Hesrons sønn, fikk barn med sin kone Asuba og med Jeriot. Dette var Asubas sønner: Jeser og Sjobab og Ardon. 19 Da Asuba døde, tok Kaleb Efrat til kone, og med henne fikk han sønnen Hur, s20 Hur fikk sønnen Uri, og Uri fikk sønnen Besalel. s

21 Siden gikk Hesron inn til en datter av Gileads far Makir. Han tok henne til kone da han var seksti år gammel, og fikk med henne sønnen Segub. 22 Segub fikk sønnen Ja’ir, han hadde tjuetre byer i Gileads land. s23 Men gesjurittene og arameerne tok Ja’irs byer fra dem og likeså Kenat med tilhørende landsbyer, i alt seksti byer. Alle disse var sønner av Gileads far Makir. s24 Etter at Hesron var død i Kaleb-Efrata, fødte hans kone Abia ham Asjhur, Tekoas far.

25 Sønnene til Jerahme’el, Hesrons førstefødte, var Ram, hans førstefødte, og Buna og Oren og Osem, dem hadde han med Akia. 26 Jerahme’el hadde også en annen kone, som hette Atara, hun var mor til Onam. 27 Sønnene til Ram, Jerahme’els førstefødte, var Ma’as og Jamin og Eker. 28 Onams sønner var Sjammai og Jada. Sjammais sønner var Nadab og Abisjur. 29 Abisjurs kone hette Abihajil, og med henne fikk han Akban og Molid. 30 Nadabs sønner var Seled og Appajim. Jeter døde uten sønner. 33 Jonatans sønner var Pelet og Sasa. Dette var Jerahme’els sønner.

34 Sjesan hadde ingen sønner, bare døtre. Men Sjesan hadde en egyptisk tjener som hette Jarha, 35 og han lot sin tjener Jarha få sin datter til kone, og med henne fikk han sønnen Attai. 36 Attai fikk sønnen Natan, Natan fikk sønnen Sabad, 37 Sabad fikk sønnen Eflal, Eflal fikk sønnen Obed, 38 Obed fikk sønnen Jehu, Jehu fikk sønnen Asarja, 39 Asarja fikk sønnen Heles, Heles fikk sønnen Elasa, 40 Elasa fikk sønnen Sismai, Sismai fikk sønnen Sjallum, 41 Sjallum fikk sønnen Jekamja, Jekamja fikk sønnen Elisjama.

42 Sønnene til Jerahme’els bror Kaleb var Mesja, hans førstefødte - han var far til Sif - og sønnene til Hebrons far Maresja. s43 Hebrons sønner var Korah og Tappuah og Rekem og Sjema. 44 Sjema fikk sønnen Raham, far til Jorkeam. Rekem fikk sønnen Sjammai. 45 Sjammais sønn var Maon, Maon var far til Bet-Sur. 46 Kalebs medhustru Efa fødte Haran og Mosa og Gases. Haran fikk sønnen Gases. 47 Jehdais sønner var Regem og Jotam og Gesjan og Pelet og Efa og Sja’af. 48 Kalebs medhustru Ma’aka fødte Sjeber og Tirhana, 49 hun fødte også Sja’af, far til Madmanna, og Sjeva, far til Makbena og Gibea. Kalebs datter var Aksa. s

1 These were the sons of Israel:t
Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;

Judah’s Descendants

3 The sons of Judah:
Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by Bathshua,t a Canaanite woman. Er, Judah’s firstborn, displeased the Lord, so the Lord killed him.t

4 Tamar, Judah’st daughter-in-law, bore to him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.

5 The sons of Perez:
Hezron and Hamul.

6 The sons of Zerah:
Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol, Daras – five in all.

7 The sont of Carmi:
Achan,s who brought the disaster on Israel when he stole what was devoted to God.t

8 The sont of Ethan:
Azariah.

9 The sons born to Hezron:
Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb.t

Ram’s Descendants

10 Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, the tribal chief of Judah.11 Nahshon was the father of Salma,s and Salma was the father of Boaz.

12 Boaz was the father of Obed, and Obed was the father of Jesse.
13 Jesse was the father of Eliab, his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea third,14 Nethanel fourth, Raddai fifth,15 Ozem sixth, David seventh.16 Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah’s three sons were Abshai,t Joab, and Asahel.

17 Abigail bore Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite.

Caleb’s Descendants

18 Caleb son of Hezron fathered sons by his wife Azubah (also known as Jerioth).t Her sons were Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.19 When Azubah died, Caleb marriedt Ephrath, who bore him Hur.

20 Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21 Laters Hezron had sexual relations witht the daughter of Makir, the father of Gilead. (He had marriedt her when he was sixty years old.) She bore him Segub.22 Segub was the father of Jair, who owned twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.

23 (Geshur and Aram captured the towns of Jair,t along with Kenath and its sixty surrounding towns.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.

24 After Hezron’s death, Caleb had sexual relations with Ephrath, his father Hezron’s widow, and she bore to him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.t

Jerahmeel’s Descendants

25 The sons of Jerahmeel, Hezron’s firstborn, were Ram, the firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.

26 Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah; she was Onam’s mother.

27 The sons of Ram, Jerahmeel’s firstborn, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.

28 The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada.
The sons of Shammai:
Nadab and Abishur.

29 Abishur’s wife was Abihail, who bore him Ahban and Molid.

30 The sons of Nadab:
Seled and Appaim. (Seled died without having sons.)

31 The sont of Appaim:
Ishi.
The son of Ishi:
Sheshan.
The son of Sheshan:
Ahlai.

32 The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother:
Jether and Jonathan. (Jether died without having sons.)

33 The sons of Jonathan:
Peleth and Zaza.
These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
34 Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. Sheshan had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.

35 Sheshan gave his daughter to his servant Jarha as a wife; she bore him Attai.
36 Attai was the father of Nathan, and Nathan was the father of Zabad.37 Zabad was the father of Ephlal, and Ephlal was the father of Obed.38 Obed was the father of Jehu, and Jehu was the father of Azariah.39 Azariah was the father of Helez, and Helez was the father of Eleasah.40 Eleasah was the father of Sismai, and Sismai was the father of Shallum.

41 Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.

42 The sons of Caleb, Jerahmeel’s brother:
His firstborn Mesha, the father of Ziph, and his second son Mareshah,s the father of Hebron.

43 The sons of Hebron:
Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44 Shema was the father of Raham, the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai.

45 Shammai’s son was Maon, who was the father of Beth-Zur.

46 Caleb’s concubines Ephah bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

47 The sons of Jahdai:
Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48 Caleb’s concubine Maacah bore Sheber and Tirhanah.

49 She also bore Shaaph the father of Madmannah and Sheva the father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Achsah.

50 These were the descendants of Caleb.
The sonst of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrath:t
Shobal, the father of Kiriath Jearim,

51 Salma, the father of Bethlehem, Hareph, the father of Beth-Gader.
52 The sons of Shobal, the father of Kiriath Jearim, were Haroeh, half of the Manahathites,t

53 the clans of Kiriath Jearim – the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. (The Zorathites and Eshtaolites descended from these groups.)t

54 The sons of Salma:
Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth Beth-Joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites,

55 and the clans of the scribest who lived in Jabez: the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. These are the Kenites who descendedt from Hammath, the father of Beth-Rechab.t
