1 Und der König David sprach zu der ganzen Gemeinde: Gott hat Salomo, meiner Söhne einen, erwählt, der noch jung und zart ist; das Werk aber ist groß; denn es ist nicht eines Menschen Wohnung, sondern Gottes des HERRN. 2 Ich aber habe aus allen meinen Kräften zugerichtet zum Hause Gottes Gold zu goldenem, Silber zu silbernem, Erz zu erhernem, Eisen zu eisernem, Holz zu hölzernem Geräte, Onyxsteine und eingefaßte Steine, Rubine und bunte Steine und allerlei Edelsteine und Marmelsteine die Menge. 3 Überdas, aus Wohlgefallen am Hause meines Gottes, habe ich eigenes Gutes, Gold und Silber, 4 dreitausend Zentner Gold von Ophir und siebentausend Zentner lauteres Silber, das gebe ich zum heiligen Hause Gottes außer allem, was ich zugerichtet habe, die Wände der Häuser zu überziehen, 5 daß golden werde, was golden, silbern, was silbern sein soll, und zu allerlei Werk durch die Hand der Werkmeister. Und wer ist nun willig, seine Hand heute dem HERRN zu füllen?
6 Da waren die Fürsten der Vaterhäuser, die Fürsten der Stämme Israels, die Fürsten über tausend und über hundert und die Fürsten über des Königs Geschäfte willig 7 und gaben zum Amt im Hause Gottes fünftausend Zentner Gold und zehntausend Goldgulden und zehntausend Zentner Silber, achtzehntausend Zentner Erz und hundertausend Zentner Eisen. 8 Und bei welchem Steine gefunden wurden, die gaben sie zum Schatz des Hauses des HERRN unter die Hand Jehiels, des Gersoniten. 9 Und das Volk ward fröhlich, daß sie willig waren; denn sie gaben's von ganzem Herzen dem HERRN freiwillig. Und David, der König, freute sich auch hoch
10 und lobte den HERRN und sprach vor der ganzen Gemeinde: Gelobt seist du, HERR, Gott Israels, unsers Vaters, ewiglich. 11 Dir, HERR, gebührt die Majestät und Gewalt, Herrlichkeit, Sieg und Dank. Denn alles, was im Himmel und auf Erden ist. das ist dein. Dein, HERR, ist das Reich, und du bist erhöht über alles zum Obersten. 12 Reichtum und Ehre ist vor dir; Du herrschest über alles; in deiner Hand steht Kraft und Macht; in deiner Hand steht es, jedermann groß und stark zu machen. 13 Nun, unser Gott, wir danken dir und rühmen den Namen deiner Herrlichkeit. 14 Denn was bin ich? Was ist mein Volk, daß wir sollten vermögen, freiwillig so viel zu geben? Denn von dir ist alles gekommen, und von deiner Hand haben wir dir's gegeben. 15 Denn wir sind Fremdlinge und Gäste vor dir wie unsre Väter alle. unser Leben auf Erden ist wie ein Schatten, und ist kein Aufhalten. 16 HERR, unser Gott, aller dieser Haufe, den wir zugerichtet haben, dir ein Haus zu bauen, deinem heiligen Namen, ist von deiner Hand gekommen, und ist alles dein. 17 Ich weiß, mein Gott, daß du das Herz prüfst, und Aufrichtigkeit ist dir angenehm. Darum habe ich dies alles aus aufrichtigem Herzen freiwillig gegeben und habe jetzt mit Freuden gesehen dein Volk, das hier vorhanden ist, daß es dir freiwillig gegeben hat. 18 HERR, Gott unsrer Väter, Abrahams, Isaaks und Israels, bewahre ewiglich solchen Sinn und Gedanken im Herzen deines Volkes und richte ihre Herzen zu dir. 19 Und meinem Sohn Salomo gib ein rechtschaffenes Herz, daß er halte deine Gebote, Zeugnisse und Rechte, daß er alles tue und baue diese Wohnung, die ich zugerichtet habe.
20 Und David sprach zu der ganzen Gemeinde: Lobet den HERRN, euren Gott! Und die ganze Gemeinde lobte den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter; und sie neigten sich und fielen nieder vor dem HERRN und vor dem König 21 und opferten dem HERRN Opfer. Und des Morgens opferten sie Brandopfer: tausend Farren, tausend Widder, tausend Lämmer mit ihren Trankopfern, und opferten die Menge unter dem ganzen Israel 22 und aßen und tranken desselben Tages vor dem HERRN mit großen Freuden und machten zum zweitenmal Salomo, den Sohn Davids, zum König und salbten ihn dem HERRN zum Fürsten und Zadok zum Priester.
23 Also saß Salomo auf dem Stuhl des Herrn als ein König an seines Vaters Davids Statt und ward glücklich; und ganz Israel ward ihm gehorsam. 24 Und alle Obersten und Gewaltigen, auch alle Kinder des Königs David taten sich unter den König Salomo. 25 Und der HERR machte Salomo immer größer vor dem Volk Israel und gab ihm ein prächtiges Königreich, wie keiner vor ihm über Israel gehabt hatte.
26 So ist nun David, der Sohn Isais. König gewesen über ganz Israel. 27 Die Zeit aber, die er König über Israel gewesen ist, ist vierzig Jahre: zu Hebron regierte er sieben Jahre und zu Jerusalem dreiunddreißig Jahre. 28 Und er starb im guten Alter, gesättigt mit Leben, Reichtum und Ehre. Und sein Sohn Salomo ward König an seiner Statt. 29 Die Geschichten aber des Königs David, beide, die ersten und die letzten, siehe, die sind geschrieben in den Geschichten Samuels, des Sehers, und in den Geschichten des Propheten Nathan und in den Geschichten Gads, des Sehers, 30 mit allem seinem Königreich und seiner Gewalt und den Zeiten, die ergangen sind über ihn und über Israel und alle Königreiche in den Landen.

The People Contribute to the Project
1 King David said to the entire assembly: “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is just an inexperienced young man,t and the task is great, for this palace is not for man, but for the Lord God.2 So I have made every effortt to provide what is needed for the temple of my God, including the gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood,t as well as a large amount of onyx, settings of antimony and other stones, all kinds of precious stones, and alabaster.3 Now, to show my commitment to the temple of my God, I donate my personal treasure of gold and silver to the temple of my God, in addition to all that I have already supplied for this holy temple.4 This includes 3,000 talentst of gold from Ophir and 7,000 talents of refined silver for overlaying the walls of the buildings,
5 for gold and silver items, and for all the work of the craftsmen. Who else wants to contribute to the Lord today?”
6 The leaders of the families, the leaders of the Israelite tribes, the commanders of units of a thousand and a hundred, and the supervisors of the king’s work contributed willingly.7 They donated for the service of God’s temple 5,000 talentst and ten thousand daricsts of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze, and 100,000 talents of iron.8 All who possessed precioust stones donated them to the treasury of the Lord’s temple, which was under the supervision of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 The people were delighted with their donations, for they contributed to the Lord with a willing attitude;t King David was also very happy.t
David Praises the Lord
10 David praised the Lord before the entire assembly:t
“O Lord God of our father Israel, you deserve praise forevermore!11 O Lord, you are great, mighty, majestic, magnificent, glorious, and sovereignt over all the sky and earth! You have dominion and exalt yourself as the rulert of all.12 You are the source of wealth and honor;t you rule over all. You possess strength and might to magnify and give strength to all.t
13 Now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name!
14 “But who am I and who are my people, that we should be in a position to contribute this much?t Indeed, everything comes from you, and we have simply given back to you what is yours.t15 For we are resident foreigners and nomads in your presence, like all our ancestors;t our days are like a shadow on the earth, without security.t16 O Lord our God, all this wealth, which we have collected to build a temple for you to honor your holy name, comes from you; it all belongs to you.17 I know, my God, that you examine thoughtst and are pleased with integrity. With pure motivest I contribute all this; and now I look with joy as your people who have gathered here contribute to you.18 O Lord God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, maintain the motives of your people and keep them devoted to you.t
19 Make my son Solomon willing to obey your commands, rules, and regulations, and to complete building the palace for which I have made preparations.”t
20 David told the entire assembly: “Praise the Lord your God!” So the entire assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors; they bowed down and stretched out flat on the ground before the Lord and the king.
David Designates Solomon King
21 The next day they made sacrifices and offered burnt sacrifices to the Lord (1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams, 1,000 lambs), along with their accompanying drink offerings and many other sacrifices for all Israel.
22 They held a feastt before the Lord that day and celebrated.t
Then they designated Solomon, David’s son, as king a second time;s before the Lord they anointed him as ruler and Zadok as priest.23 Solomon sat on the Lord’s throne as king in place of his father David; he was successful and all Israel was loyal to him.t24 All the officers and warriors, as well as all of King David’s sons, pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.t
25 The Lord greatly magnified Solomon before all Israel and bestowed on him greater majesty than any king of Israel before him.t
David’s Reign Comes to an End
26 David son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.27 He reigned over Israel forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years and in Jerusalems thirty-three years.28 He died at a good old age, having enjoyed long life, wealth, and honor.t His son Solomon succeeded him.29 King David’s accomplishments, from start to finish, are recorded in the Annals of Samuel the prophet, the Annals of Nathan the prophet, and the Annals of Gad the prophet.t
30 Recorded there are all the facts about his reign and accomplishments, and an account of the events that involved him, Israel, and all the neighboring kingdoms.t
