1 Corintios 1

Saludo

1-2 Pablo, llamado por la voluntad de Dios a ser apóstol de Cristo Jesús, saluda, junto con el hermano Sóstenes, a los que forman la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, que en Cristo Jesús fueron santificados y llamados a formar su pueblo santo, junto con todos los que en todas partes invocan el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Señor nuestro y del pueblo santo.3 Que Dios nuestro Padre y el Señor Jesucristo derramen sobre ustedes su gracia y su paz.

Acción de gracias

4 Siempre doy gracias a mi Dios por ustedes, por la gracia que Dios ha derramado sobre ustedes por medio de Cristo Jesús.5 Pues por medio de él Dios les ha dado toda riqueza espiritual, así de palabra como de conocimiento,6 ya que el mensaje acerca de Cristo se estableció firmemente entre ustedes.7 De este modo no les falta ningún don de Dios mientras esperan el día en que aparezca nuestro Señor Jesucristo.8 Dios los mantendrá firmes hasta el fin, para que nadie pueda reprocharles nada cuando nuestro Señor Jesucristo regrese.9 Dios siempre cumple sus promesas, y él es quien los llamó a vivir en unión con su Hijo Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.10 Hermanos, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo les ruego que todos estén siempre de acuerdo y que no haya divisiones entre ustedes. Vivan en armonía, pensando y sintiendo de la misma manera.11 Digo esto, hermanos míos, porque he sabido por los de la familia de Cloe que hay discordias entre ustedes.12 Quiero decir, que algunos de ustedes afirman: «Yo soy de Pablo»; otros: «Yo soy de Apolo»; otros: «Yo soy de Cefas»; y otros: «Yo soy de Cristo.»13 ¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿Fue crucificado Pablo en favor de ustedes? ¿O fueron ustedes bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?14 ¡Gracias a Dios que yo no bauticé a ninguno de ustedes, aparte de Crispo y de Gayo!15 Así nadie puede decir que fue bautizado en mi nombre.16 También bauticé a la familia de Estéfanas, pero no recuerdo haber bautizado a ningún otro,17 pues Cristo no me mandó a bautizar, sino a anunciar el evangelio, y no con alardes de sabiduría y retórica, para no quitarle valor a la muerte de Cristo en la cruz.18 El mensaje de la muerte de Cristo en la cruz parece una tontería a los que van a la perdición; pero este mensaje es poder de Dios para los que vamos a la salvación.19 Como dice la Escritura:

«Haré que los sabios pierdan su sabiduría
y que desaparezca la inteligencia de los inteligentes.»20 ¿En qué pararon el sabio, y el maestro, y el que sabe discutir sobre cosas de este mundo? ¡Dios ha convertido en tontería la sabiduría de este mundo!21 Puesto que el mundo no usó su sabiduría para reconocer a Dios donde él ha mostrado su sabiduría, dispuso Dios en su bondad salvar por medio de su mensaje a los que tienen fe, aunque este mensaje parezca una tontería.22 Los judíos quieren ver señales milagrosas, y los griegos buscan sabiduría;23 pero nosotros anunciamos a un Mesías crucificado. Esto les resulta ofensivo a los judíos, y a los no judíos les parece una tontería;24 pero para los que Dios ha llamado, sean judíos o griegos, este Mesías es el poder y la sabiduría de Dios.25 Pues lo que en Dios puede parecer una tontería, es mucho más sabio que toda sabiduría humana; y lo que en Dios puede parecer debilidad, es más fuerte que toda fuerza humana.

Realidad de la comunidad de Corinto

26 Hermanos, deben darse cuenta de que Dios los ha llamado a pesar de que pocos de ustedes son sabios según los criterios humanos, y pocos de ustedes son gente con autoridad o pertenecientes a familias importantes.27 Y es que, para avergonzar a los sabios, Dios ha escogido a los que el mundo tiene por tontos; y para avergonzar a los fuertes, ha escogido a los que el mundo tiene por débiles.28 Dios ha escogido a la gente despreciada y sin importancia de este mundo, es decir, a los que no son nada, para anular a los que son algo.29 Así nadie podrá presumir delante de Dios.30 Pero Dios mismo los ha unido a ustedes con Cristo Jesús, y ha hecho también que Cristo sea nuestra sabiduría, nuestra justicia, nuestra santificación y nuestra liberación.31 De esta manera, como dice la Escritura: «Si alguno quiere enorgullecerse, que se enorgullezca del Señor.»

1 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,2 unto the church of God which is at Corinth, even them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.4 I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;5 that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge;6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:7 so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;8 who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.10 Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.11 For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them that are of the household of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.12 Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;15 lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name.16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.18 For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.22 Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom:23 but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness;24 but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.26 For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;28 and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:29 that no flesh should glory before God.30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:31 that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
