1 Corintios 1

Primera carta a los

1-2 Estimados hermanos de la iglesiat de Dios que está en Corinto: Dios los ha hecho santost por medio de Jesucristo. Él los ha llamado a ser su pueblo santo junto con todos los que, en todas partes, confían en el Señort Jesucristo, quien es Señor de ellos y también nuestro.
Un cordial saludo de parte de Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por voluntad de Dios, y de parte de Sóstenes, nuestro hermano en Cristo.

3 Que el generoso amort y la paz de Dios nuestro Padre y de nuestro Señor Jesucristo estén siempre con ustedes.

Pablo agradece a Dios

4 Siempre le doy gracias a mi Dios por ustedes, por el generoso amort que les ha dado por medio de Jesucristo.5 Porque por medio de él, Dios les ha dado toda una riqueza espiritual para hablar y para tener conocimiento.6 El testimonio de Cristo ha sido confirmado en ustedes.7 Como resultado, ustedes tienen todos los dones de Dios mientras esperan el regreso de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.8 Él los fortalecerá hasta el final para que el día en que regrese nuestro Señor Jesucristo sean encontrados sin ninguna culpa.

9 Dios siempre cumple sus promesas, y él es quien los ha llamado a compartir la vida con su Hijo, nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Problemas en la iglesia

10 Hermanos, les pido en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo que se pongan de acuerdo unos con otros para que no haya divisiones entre ustedes. Les pido que se unan nuevamente en torno a las mismas ideas y los mismos propósitos.11 Les digo esto porque algunos de la familia de Cloé me han contado que hay discordias entre ustedes.12 Es decir que algunos de ustedes dicen: «Yo sigo a Pablo»; otros: «Yo sigo a Apolos»; otros: «Yo sigo a Pedrot»; y otros: «Yo sigo a Cristo».13 ¿Es que Cristo está dividido? ¿Acaso Pablo fue crucificado por ustedes? ¿Fueron ustedes bautizadost en el nombre de Pablo?14 Agradezco a Dios que la mayoría de ustedes no fueron bautizados por mí, excepto Crispo y Gayo.15 Así nadie puede decir que ustedes fueron bautizados en mi nombre.16 Bauticé a la familia de Estéfanas, pero no recuerdo si bauticé a alguien más.

17 Cristo no me ha enviado a bautizar, sino a anunciar la buena noticiat de salvación, y no con palabras de sabiduría, para que la cruz de Cristo no pierda su poder.

Cristo es el poder y la sabiduría de Dios

18 El mensaje de la cruz parece una tontería para aquellos que están perdidos; pero para los que estamos siendo salvados es el poder de Dios.

19 Como está escrito:
«Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios,
y confundiré el entendimiento
de los inteligentes».t
20 ¿En qué queda el filósofo? ¿Cómo queda el experto en la Escritura? ¿Dónde está el intelectual que discute sobre asuntos de este mundo? Dios ha convertido en tontería la sabiduría de este mundo.

21 El mundo en su propia sabiduría, no conoció a Dios. Así que, Dios en su propia sabiduría, prefirió salvar a los que creen por medio de la tontería del mensajet que anunciamos.
22 Los judíos buscan milagros mientras los griegost buscan sabiduría;23 pero nosotros anunciamos a Cristo crucificado. Este mensaje resulta ofensivo para los judíos y les parece una tontería a los que no son judíos,24 pero para los que han sido llamados por Dios, judíos o no, este mensaje es poder y sabiduría de Dios.

25 Pues la tontería de Dios es más sabia que la sabiduría de los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que la fortaleza de los hombres.
26 Ahora, fíjense hermanos: según las normas humanas, no hay entre ustedes muchos sabios, tampoco muchos que tengan influencias, ni que pertenezcan a familias importantes. Pero a pesar de todo, Dios los ha llamado.27 Pero Dios prefirió usar las tonterías de este mundo para avergonzar a los sabios, y prefirió usar a los débiles de este mundo para avergonzar a los poderosos.28 Dios prefirió lo que el mundo cree que no es importante, lo que desprecia y lo que no significa nada. Prefirió todo eso para destruir lo que el mundo cree que es importante.29 Dios hizo esto para que nadie pueda alabarse a sí mismo delante de él.30 Por medio de él, ustedes pertenecen a Jesucristo, quien se ha convertido en la sabiduría de Dios para nosotros. Por medio de Cristo, Dios nos aprueba, nos libra del pecado y nos santifica.

31 Así que como está escrito: «Si alguien alaba algo, que alabe lo que el Señor ha hecho».t

1 Corinthians 1

Appeal to Unity

1 Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank tmy God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,5 that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge,6 even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you,7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you.12 Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ."13 Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?14 tI thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,15 so that no one would say you were baptized in my name.16 Now I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other.17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.

The Wisdom of God

18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.19 For it is written,
"I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE."20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;23 but we preach tChrist crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,29 so that no man may boast before God.30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,31 so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."
