Вітання коринтянам

1-2 Павло, покликаний бути апостолом Христа Ісуса волею Божою, разом із братом нашим у Христі Состеном до церкви Божої, що в Коринті, до людей відданих Богу в Христі Ісусі, яких Бог покликав бути святими, а також до всіх тих, хто повсюди молиться в ім’я Господа нашогоt Ісуса Христа, Господа їхнього і нашого.

3 Благодать і мир вам від Бога, Отця нашого і від Господа Ісуса Христа.

Дяка Богу

4 Я завжди дякую моєму Богу за вас, за Божу благодать, що дана вам в Христі Ісусі.

5 Бо в Ньому ви збагатилися всім: і словом, і знанням.

6 Наше свідчення про Христа підтвердилося в вас.

7 Зараз ви маєте усі дари Божі, поки чекаєте приходу нашого Господа Ісуса Христа.

8 Він також повністю підтвердить у День другого Пришестя Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, що ви невинні.

9 Істинний і вірний Бог покликав вас до єднання зі Своїм Сином, нашим Господом Ісусом Христом.

Незгоди у Коринтській церкві

10 Я благаю вас, брати і сестри мої, іменем Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, щоб усі ви погоджувалися одне з одним, щоб не було розбрату між вами, і щоб були ви єдині в думках своїх і прагненнях.

11 Бо стало мені відомо від Хлоїних домашніх, що між вами є суперечки.

12 І ось що я маю на увазі: кожен із вас каже: «Я — прибічник Павла» — «Я — Аполлосів» — «Я — Кифин» — «А я — прибічник Христа».

13 Хіба ж Христос розділився? Хіба був розіп’ятий за вас Павло? Чи, може, хрестилися ви в ім’я Павлове?

14 Я дякую Богові, що нікого з вас не хрестив, окрім Криспа і Ґая.

15 Тож ніхто з вас не може сказати, що хрестився моїм ім’ям.

16 Хрестив я ще Степанову родину, а щодо інших, то не пригадаю, чи хрестив я ще когось.

17 Бо Христос посилав мене не хрестити, а проповідувати Добру Звістку та без надмірного красномовства, щоб хрестt Христовий не втратив сили своєї.

Христос — Божа сила і мудрість

18 Бо для тих, хто гине, учення про хрест — це дурниця, а для нас, хто спасенний, то є сила Божа.

19 Як сказано у Святому Писанні:

«Я знищу мудрість мудрих
і зведу нанівець розум розумних». Ісая 29:14

20 Де той мудрець? Де той вчений? Де той мислитель, який належить часу нинішньому? Чи Бог не зробив мудрість світу цього безглуздою?

21 Світ своєю мудрістю не осягнув Бога. То Бог Своєю мудрістю вибрав для порятунку тих, хто вірить, хоч яке безглузде Вчення, що ми проповідуємо.

22 Юдеї вимагають чудесних знамень, а греки — мудрості.

23 Ми ж проповідуємо про розіп’ятого Христа. Для юдеїв це вчення є образою, а для поган — безглуздям.

24 І лиш покликані Богом, чи то юдеї, чи то погани, розуміють, що Христос — сила і мудрість Божа.

25 Адже Боже «безглуздя» мудріше за людську мудрість, а Божа «неміч» міцніша за людську силу.

26 Брати і сестри, подумайте про своє власне покликання! Небагато з вас були мудрими за людськими мірками. Небагато було й сильних, небагато шляхетних.

27 Ні, Бог вибрав «нерозумних», щоб присоромити мудрих світу цього. Він вибрав немічних, щоб присоромити сильних.

28-29 Бог вибрав усе принижене й зневажене, все «немічне», щоб знищити все те, що «чогось варте», щоб ніхто не вихвалявся перед лицем Божим.

30 Він — джерело життя вашого в Ісусі Христі, Який став нашою мудрістю з Божої волі, нашою праведністю, нашим освяченням і нашою спокутою.

31 Адже сказано у Святому Писанні: «Хто хвалиться, той мусить хвалитися Господом».t

1 Corinthians 1

Appeal to Unity

1 Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank tmy God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,5 that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge,6 even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you,7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you.12 Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ."13 Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?14 tI thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,15 so that no one would say you were baptized in my name.16 Now I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other.17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.

The Wisdom of God

18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.19 For it is written,
"I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE."20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;23 but we preach tChrist crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,29 so that no man may boast before God.30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,31 so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."
