コリント人への第一の手紙 1

一

1 　神様に選ばれて、キリスト・イエスを宣べ伝える伝道者となったパウロと、信仰の友ソステネから、　2 神の民として招かれ、キリスト・イエスによって神様に受け入れられる者とされた、コリント教会の皆さん、および主イエス・キリストの御名を至る所で呼び求めているクリスチャンの方々へ。
この主は、私たちの主であると共に、すべての人の主です。
3 どうか、父なる神と主イエス・キリストが、あなたがたをあふれるほど祝福し、すばらしい平安を与えてくださいますように。
4 神様があなたがたにお与えになったすばらしい贈り物を思う時、感謝せずにはいられません。　今やあなたがたは、キリスト様のものとなったのです。　5 キリスト様は、あなたがたの全生活を充実させてくださり、キリスト様について大胆に語る力や、真理を十分に理解する力を与えてくださいました。　6 以前、私が、キリスト様はきっとそうしてくださる、と話しておいたとおりでしょう。　7 今やあなたがたは、あらゆる恵みと祝福とを手にしたのです。　主イエス・キリストのおいでを待ち望んでいるこの時、主のお心にかなったことをするのに必要な、あらゆる霊の賜物と力とが、あなたがたには備わっています。　8 そして、主が再び来られるその日に、あなたがたが罪も欠点もない者と認められるように、主は最後まで責任をもって守ってくださいます。　9 この神様の約束は確かです。　神様はいつでも、口にしたことばをそのとおり実行なさるからです。　この神様があなたがたを、神の子、すなわち主イエス・キリストとのすばらしい交わりに、招き入れてくださったのです。
10 しかし、愛する皆さん、私は主イエス・キリストの御名によってお願いします。　仲間同士の言い争いはやめなさい。　教会の中で仲間割れなどしないよう、真の一致を保ってください。　同じ考え、同じ目的で結ばれて、一つ心になってほしいのです。　11 実は、クロエの家の者が知らせてくれたのですが、愛する皆さん、あなたがたの間には、口論や反目があるそうではありませんか。　12 ある人は「私はパウロの弟子だ」と言い、また、ある人は「私はアポロの弟子だ」とか「私はペテロの弟子だ」と言い、また、ある人は「自分たちだけがキリスト様の真の弟子だ」と言っているそうですね。　13 そのように言い争って、キリスト様を小間切れにするつもりですか。
しかし、このパウロが、あなたがたの罪のために死にましたか。　あなたがたのだれが、私の名によってバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けたでしょうか。　14 いま私は、あなたがたのところで、クリスポとガイオのほかには、だれにもバプテスマを授けなかったことを、心から感謝しています。　15 私が新しく、「パウロの教会」とやらを起こそうとしていたなどと考えられては、たまらないからです。　16 そうそう、ステパナの家族にもバプテスマを授けましたね。　しかし、そのほかは、だれにも授けた覚えはありません。　17 キリスト様が私をお遣わしになった目的は、バプテスマを授けさせることではなく、良い知らせを宣べ伝えさせるためです。　私の説教も、貧弱に聞こえるかもしれません。　難しいことばを使ったり、高尚な考えを述べたりはしないからです。　それというのも、キリスト様の十字架の教えの単純さに込められているすばらしい力を、そんなもので薄めてはならない、と考えているからです。
18 「イエス様は私たちを救うために死んでくださった」ということばが、滅んでゆく人々にはどんなにばからしく響くか、私にはよくわかっています。　しかし、救われた私たちは、これが神の力そのものであると認めるのです。　19 なぜなら、神様がこう言われるからです。
「わたしは、たとい人の目には
どんなにりっぱに見える計画でも、
人間の側の救いの計画をことごとく打ちこわし、
最も才気あふれる人の、最もすぐれた考えをも無視する。」
20 こうした知識人、学者、この世の重大問題にかかわる議論家たちについては、何と言われているでしょう。　神様は、彼らをみな愚か者とし、そんな知恵など無用の長物だときめつけました。　21 この世がいかに人間のすぐれた知恵を結集しても神様を見いだせないのは、神様のお考えによることです。　そして神様は、一般の人には、ばかばかしくて話にならないような神のことばを信じる人を、救うことにされたのです。　22 これは、ユダヤ人には、ばからしく思われるでしょう。　彼らは、説かれていることの真実さを証拠立てるような、天からのしるしを求めているからです。　また、それ以外の外国人にも、ばからしいと思われるでしょう。　彼らは、理性で納得できることとか、賢明と思われることしか信じないからです。　23 それで、人々を救うために死なれたキリスト様について話すと、ユダヤ人は腹を立て、外国人は「まるでナンセンスだ」と言うのです。
24 しかし神様は、ユダヤ人でも外国人でも、救いへと招かれた人々の目を開いて、キリスト様こそ彼らを救う偉大な神の力であることを、悟らせてくださいました。　実に、キリストご自身こそ、人々を救うための、神の知恵に満ちた計画の中心なのです。　25 この、いわゆる「ばからしい」神の計画は、最高の知識人の最も賢明な計画より、はるかにすぐれたものです。　また、キリストの十字架上の死という神の弱さは、実は、どんな人間よりも強いのです。
26 愛する皆さん。　自分たちの仲間を見回してごらんなさい。　キリスト様に従うあなたがたの中には、有名人や権力者や金持ちはほとんどいません。　27 それどころか、神様は、この世では愚か者、無価値な者と思われている人々を、わざわざお選びになりました。　それは、この世で知恵ある者、りっぱな人とされている人々を辱しめるためです。　28 神様は、いわゆるこの世で見下されている者、全く取るに足りない者を選び、そんな人々を役立てることによって、世間では大物と言われる人を、なきに等しい者とされたのです。　29 ですから、どこのだれであっても、神の御前で自慢することはできません。
30 というのは、あなたがたがキリスト・イエスによっていのちを確保できたのは、ひとえに神様のおかげだからです。　キリスト様は、神様の救いの計画を明らかにしてくださいました。　私たちを神様に受け入れられる者としてくださったのは、このキリスト様でした。　この方は、私たちを、きよく聖なる者とし、また、私たちの救いを買い取るために、ご自身を投げ出されたのです。　31 旧約聖書の、「だれでも誇ろうとする者は、主のなさったことだけを誇れ」という、ことばどおりになるためです。

1 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,2 unto the church of God which is at Corinth, even them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.4 I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;5 that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge;6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:7 so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;8 who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 God is faithful, through whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.10 Now I beseech you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.11 For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them that are of the household of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.12 Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;15 lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name.16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.18 For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.22 Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom:23 but we preach Christ crucified, unto Jews a stumblingblock, and unto Gentiles foolishness;24 but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.26 For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong;28 and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:29 that no flesh should glory before God.30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:31 that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
