1 Corintieni 1

1 Pavel, chemat prin voia lui Dumnezeu să fie apostol al lui Cristos Isus, și fratele Sostenes,2 către biserica lui Dumnezeu care este în Corint, către cei sfințiți în Cristos Isus, chemați să fie sfinți împreună cu toți cei ce cheamă Numele Domnului nostru, Isus Cristos, Domnul lor și al nostru, în orice loc:3 har și pace de la Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, și de la Domnul Isus Cristos!

Mulțumire

4 Întotdeauna Îi mulțumesc Dumnezeului meu pentru voi, din pricina harului lui Dumnezeu, care v-a fost dat în Cristos Isus5 și datorită căruia ați fost îmbogățiți în vorbire și în orice fel de cunoaștere,6 întrucât mărturia despre Cristos a fost confirmată în mijlocul vostru.7 Astfel, așteptând descoperirea Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, voi nu sunteți lipsiți de nici un dar,8 iar El vă va și întări până la sfârșit, astfel încât să fiți fără vină în ziua Domnului nostru Isus Cristos.9 Credincios este Dumnezeu, prin Care ați fost chemați la părtășia cu Fiul Său, Isus Cristos, Domnul nostru.

Dezbinări în biserică

10 Vă îndemn, fraților, în Numele Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, să aveți toți același fel de vorbire și să nu fie dezbinări între voi, ci să fiți pe deplin uniți în gândire și în scop.t11 Căci, fraților, mi s-a dat de știre despre voi, de către cei ai Cloei, că între voi sunt certuri.12 Ceea ce vreau să spun este că fiecare dintre voi zice: „Eu sunt al lui Pavel!“ sau „Eu sunt al lui Apolos!“ sau „Eu sunt al lui Chifat!“ sau „Eu sunt al lui Cristos!“13 Oare a fost Cristos împărțit? Sau oare Pavel a fost răstignit pentru voi? Sau în numele lui Pavel ați fost voi botezați?14 Îi mulțumesc lui Dumnezeu că n-am botezat pe nici unul dintre voi, în afară de Crispus și Gaius,15 pentru ca nimeni să nu poată spune că ați fost botezați în numele meu!16  Da , i-am botezat și pe cei din casa lui Stefanas, dar în afară de aceștia nu știu să mai fi botezat pe altcineva.17 Căci Cristos nu m-a trimis să botez, ci să vestesc Evangheliat, nu cu înțelepciunea vorbirii, ca nu cumva crucea lui Cristos să fie golită de folosul ei.

Cristos, înțelepciunea și puterea lui Dumnezeu

18 Căci mesajul crucii este o nebunie pentru cei ce pier, însă pentru noi, cei care suntem mântuiți, este puterea lui Dumnezeu.

19 Fiindcă este scris:
„Voi distruge înțelepciunea celor înțelepți
și voi respinge priceperea celor pricepuți.“t

20 Unde este înțeleptul? Unde este cărturarult? Unde este polemistult acestui veac? N-a prostit Dumnezeu înțelepciunea lumii?21 Întrucât, în înțelepciunea lui Dumnezeu, lumea nu L-a cunoscut pe Dumnezeu prin înțelepciune, Dumnezeu a găsit de cuviință ca prin nebunia predicării să-i mântuiască pe cei care cred.22 Iudeii cer semne, iar grecii caută înțelepciune,23 însă noi Îl predicăm pe Cristos cel răstignit, o pricină de poticnire pentru iudei și o nebunie pentru neamuri.24 Dar pentru cei chemați, atât iudei, cât și greci, Cristos este puterea și înțelepciunea lui Dumnezeu.25 Căci nebunia lui Dumnezeu este mai înțeleaptă decât oamenii și slăbiciunea lui Dumnezeu este mai puternică decât oamenii.

26 Fraților, uitați-vă la voi, cei care ați fost chemați: printre voi nu sunt mulți înțelepți în felul oamenilort, nici mulți puternici, nici mulți de viță nobilă.27 Dar Dumnezeu a ales lucrurile nebune ale lumii, ca să le facă de rușine pe cele înțelepte; și Dumnezeu a ales lucrurile slabe ale lumii, ca să le facă de rușine pe cele tari.28 Dumnezeu a ales lucrurile de jos ale lumii și lucrurile disprețuite, ba chiar lucrurile care nu sunt, ca să anuleze lucrurile care sunt.29 Astfel, nimeni nu se poate lăuda înaintea lui Dumnezeu.30 Iar voi, datorită Lui, sunteți în Cristos Isus, Care a devenit pentru noi înțelepciune de la Dumnezeu, dreptate, sfințire și răscumpărare,31 pentru ca, așa cum este scris: „Cel ce se laudă să se laude în Domnul.“t

2  t To God's church in Corinth. Christ Jesus chose you to be his very own people, and you worship in his name, as we and all others do who call him Lord.

3 My prayer is that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!
4 I never stop thanking my God for treating you with undeserved grace by giving you Christ Jesus, 5 who helps you speak and understand so well. 6 Now you are certain that everything we told you about our Lord Christ Jesus is true. 7 You are not missing out on any blessings, as you wait for him to return. 8 And until the day Christ does return, he will keep you completely innocent.

9 God can be trusted, and he chose you to be partners with his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Taking Sides

12 t They have said that some of you claim to follow me, while others claim to follow Apollos or Petert or Christ.
13 Has Christ been divided up? Was I nailed to a cross for you? Were you baptized in my name? 14 t I thank Godt that I didn't baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius. 15 Not one of you can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 t I did baptize the familyt of Stephanas, but I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.

17 Christ did not send me to baptize. He sent me to tell the good news without using words that sound wise and would make the cross of Christ lose its power.

Christ Is God's Power //and Wisdom

19 t As God says in the Scriptures,
“I will destroy the wisdom
of all who claim
to be wise.
I will confuse those
who think they know
so much.”
20  t What happened to those wise people? What happened to those experts in the Scriptures? What happened to the ones who think they have all the answers? Didn't God show that the wisdom of this world is foolish?

21 t God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him.
Instead, God chose to save only those who believe the foolish message we preach. 22 Jews ask for miracles, and Greeks want something that sounds wise. 23 But we preach that Christ was nailed to a cross. Most Jews have problems with this, and most Gentiles think it is foolish. 24 Our message is God's power and wisdom for the Jews and the Greeks that he has chosen.

25 Even when God is foolish, he is wiser than everyone else, and even when God is weak, he is stronger than everyone else.
26 My dear friends, remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn't think that many of you were wise. Only a few of you were in places of power, and not many of you came from important families.

27 But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame.
28 What the world thinks is worthless, useless, and nothing at all is what God has used to destroy what the world considers important. 29 God did all this to keep anyone from bragging to him. 30 You are God's children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy. 31 t So if you want to brag, do what the Scriptures say and brag about the Lord.
