Första Korinthierbrevet 1
Hälsning
1 Från Paulus, genom Guds vilja kallad att vara Kristi Jesu apostel, och från vår broder Sosthenes 2 till Guds församling i Korinth, till dem som helgats genom Kristus Jesus och kallats att vara heliga tillsammans med alla dem på varje plats som åkallar vår herre Jesu Kristi namn, deras och vår herre.
3 Nåd och frid från Gud, vår fader, och herren Jesus Kristus.Tack till Gud för församlingens fasthet
4 Jag tackar alltid min Gud för att han har gett er sin nåd genom Kristus Jesus. 5 Genom honom har ni blivit rika på allt, allt slags tal och allt slags kunskap. 6 Ty vittnesbördet om Kristus har vunnit sådan fasthet hos er 7 att det inte saknas något i era nådegåvor medan ni väntar på att vår herre Jesus Kristus skall uppenbaras. 8 Han skall också ge er fasthet ända till slutet, så att ni inte kan anklagas på vår herre Jesu Kristi dag.
9 Gud är trofast, han som har kallat er till gemenskap med sin son Jesus Kristus, vår herre.Motsättningar i församlingen
10 Men i vår herre Jesu Kristi namn uppmanar jag er, bröder, att vara överens och inte dela upp er i olika läger, utan återigen stå eniga i tankar och åsikter. 11 Av Chloes folk har jag nämligen fått höra, mina bröder, att det förekommer motsättningar bland er. 12 Vad jag menar är att ni alla säger: ”Jag hör till Paulus”, eller ”Jag hör till Apollos”, eller ”Jag hör till Kefas”, eller ”Jag hör till Kristus”. 13 Har Kristus blivit delad? Var det kanske Paulus som korsfästes för er, eller var det i Paulus namn ni döptes? 14 Jag är tacksam för att det bara är Crispus och Gaius som jag har döpt bland er, 15 så att ingen kan säga att ni har blivit döpta i mitt namn. 16 Jo, Stefanas och hans familj har jag också döpt, annars vet jag mig inte ha döpt någon.
17 Kristus har inte sänt mig för att döpa utan för att förkunna budskapet, men inte med en vältalares vishet: det skulle göra Kristi kors till tomma ord.Världens vishet och korsets dårskap
18 Talet om korset är en dårskap för dem som går förlorade, men för oss som räddas är det en Guds kraft. 19 Det står skrivet: Jag skall göra slut på de visas vishet, och de förståndigas förstånd skall jag utplåna. 20 Var finns nu de visa, de skriftlärda och denna världens kloka huvuden? Har inte Gud gjort världens vishet till dårskap? 21 Ty eftersom världen, omgiven av Guds vishet, inte lärde känna Gud genom visheten, beslöt Gud att genom dårskapen i förkunnelsen rädda dem som tror. 22 Judarna begär tecken och grekerna söker vishet, 23 men vi förkunnar en Kristus som blivit korsfäst, en stötesten för judarna och en dårskap för hedningarna, 24 men för de kallade, judar som greker, en Kristus som är Guds kraft och Guds vishet.
25 Guds dårskap är visare än människorna och Guds svaghet starkare än människorna.
26 Bröder, tänk på när ni blev kallade: inte många var visa i världslig mening, inte många var mäktiga, inte många förnäma. 27 Men det som är dåraktigt för världen utvalde Gud för att låta de visa stå där med skam, och det som är svagt i världen utvalde Gud för att låta det starka stå där med skam, 28 och det som världen ser ner på, det som ringaktas, ja, som inte finns till, just det utvalde Gud för att göra slut på det som finns till, 29 så att ingen människa skulle kunna vara stolt inför Gud. 30 Genom honom finns ni i Kristus Jesus, som har blivit vår vishet från Gud, vår rättfärdighet, vår helighet och vår frihet. 31 Som det står skrivet: Den stolte skall ha sin stolthet i Herren.
1 CORINTHIANS 1
1 From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from Sosthenes, who is also a follower.
2 t To God's church in Corinth. Christ Jesus chose you to be his very own people, and you worship in his name, as we and all others do who call him Lord.
3 My prayer is that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!
4 I never stop thanking my God for treating you with undeserved grace by giving you Christ Jesus, 5 who helps you speak and understand so well. 6 Now you are certain that everything we told you about our Lord Christ Jesus is true. 7 You are not missing out on any blessings, as you wait for him to return. 8 And until the day Christ does return, he will keep you completely innocent.
9 God can be trusted, and he chose you to be partners with his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.Taking Sides
10 My dear friends, as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, I beg you to get along with each other. Don't take sides. Always try to agree in what you think. 11 Several people from Chloe's familyt have already reported to me that you keep arguing with each other.
12 t They have said that some of you claim to follow me, while others claim to follow Apollos or Petert or Christ.
13 Has Christ been divided up? Was I nailed to a cross for you? Were you baptized in my name? 14 t I thank Godt that I didn't baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius. 15 Not one of you can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 t I did baptize the familyt of Stephanas, but I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.
17 Christ did not send me to baptize. He sent me to tell the good news without using words that sound wise and would make the cross of Christ lose its power.Christ Is God's Power //and Wisdom
18 The message about the cross doesn't make any sense to lost people. But for those of us who are being saved, it is God's power at work.
19 t As God says in the Scriptures,
“I will destroy the wisdom
of all who claim
to be wise.
I will confuse those
who think they know
so much.”
20 t What happened to those wise people? What happened to those experts in the Scriptures? What happened to the ones who think they have all the answers? Didn't God show that the wisdom of this world is foolish?
21 t God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him.
Instead, God chose to save only those who believe the foolish message we preach. 22 Jews ask for miracles, and Greeks want something that sounds wise. 23 But we preach that Christ was nailed to a cross. Most Jews have problems with this, and most Gentiles think it is foolish. 24 Our message is God's power and wisdom for the Jews and the Greeks that he has chosen.
25 Even when God is foolish, he is wiser than everyone else, and even when God is weak, he is stronger than everyone else.
26 My dear friends, remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn't think that many of you were wise. Only a few of you were in places of power, and not many of you came from important families.
27 But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame.
28 What the world thinks is worthless, useless, and nothing at all is what God has used to destroy what the world considers important. 29 God did all this to keep anyone from bragging to him. 30 You are God's children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy. 31 t So if you want to brag, do what the Scriptures say and brag about the Lord.
