1 Korinthierbrevet 1

Hälsning

1 Från Paulus, genom Guds vilja kallad till Kristi Jesu apostel, och vår broder Sostenes2 till Guds församling i Korint, de som helgats i Kristus Jesus, de kallade och heliga, tillsammans med alla dem som på varje plats där de eller vi bor, åkallar vår Herre Jesu Kristi namn:3 Nåd vare med er och frid från Gud, vår Fader, och Herren Jesus Kristus.

Tack till Gud

4 Jag tackar alltid min Gud för er, för den Guds nåd som ni har fått i Kristus Jesus.5 Ty i honom har ni blivit rika på allt, i fråga om allt tal och all insikt,6 eftersom vittnesbördet om Kristus har fått stadigt fäste hos er.7 Därför saknar ni inte någon nådegåva, medan ni väntar på vår Herre Jesu Kristi uppenbarelse.8 Han skall också styrka er ända till slutet, så att ni inte kan anklagas på vår Herre Jesu Kristi dag.9 Gud är trofast som har kallat er till gemenskap med sin Son Jesus Kristus, vår Herre.

Splittringstendenser i församlingen

10 I vår Herre Jesu Kristi namn uppmanar jag er, bröder, att alla vara eniga i det ni säger och inte låta stridigheter förekomma bland er, utan vara fullkomligt enade i samma uppfattning och samma mening.11 Av dem som hör till Kloes familjt har jag nämligen fått veta om er, mina bröder, att det förekommer stridigheter bland er.12 Vad jag menar är att ni var och en på sitt håll säger: "Jag håller mig till Paulus" eller "Jag håller mig till Apollos"t eller "Jag håller mig till Kefas"t eller "Jag håller mig till Kristus".13 Är då Kristus delad? Inte korsfästes väl Paulus för er? Eller döptes ni i Paulus namn?14 Jag tackar Gud för att jag inte har döpt någon bland er utom Krispus och Gajus,15 så att ingen kan säga att ni har blivit döpta i mitt namn.16 Jo, Stefanas familj har jag också döpt. För övrigt vet jag inte om jag har döpt någon.17 Ty Kristus har inte sänt mig för att döpa utan för att predika evangelium, och det inte med vishet och vältalighet, så att Kristi kors inte förlorar sin kraft.

Världens visdom och korsets dårskap

18 Ty detta budskap om korset är en dårskap för dem som blir förtappade, men för oss som blir frälsta är det en Guds kraft.19 Det står ju skrivet: "Jag skall göra de visas visdom om intet, och de förståndigas förstånd skall jag slå ner." t20 Var är de visa? Var är de skriftlärda? Var är den här världens ordvrängare?t Har inte Gud gjort den här världens visdom till dårskap?21 Jo, eftersom världen i sin visdom inte lärde känna Gud i hans vishet, beslöt Gud att genom den dårskap som vi predikar frälsa dem som tror.22 Ty judarna begär teckent och grekerna söker visdom.23 Men vi predikar Kristus som korsfäst, för judarna en stötestent och för hedningarna en dårskap.24 Men för de kallade, både judar och greker, predikar vi Kristus som Guds kraft och Guds vishet.25 Ty Guds dårskap är visare än människor, och Guds svaghet är starkare än människor.26 Bröder, se på er egen kallelse. Inte många av er var visa om man ser till det yttre, inte många var mäktiga, inte många av förnäm släkt.27 Nej, det som för världen var dåraktigt har Gud utvalt för att låta de visa stå där med skam, och det som för världen var svagt har Gud utvalt för att låta det starka stå där med skam,28 och det som för världen var oansenligt och föraktat, ja, det som inte var till, har Gud utvalt för att göra till intet det som var till,29 för att ingen människa skall berömma sig inför Gud.30 Honom har ni att tacka för att ni är i Kristus Jesus, som Gud för oss har gjort till vishet, rättfärdighet, helgelse och återlösning,31 för att det skall ske som står skrivet: "Den som berömmer sig skall berömma sig av Herren." t

1 From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from Sosthenes, who is also a follower.

2  t To God's church in Corinth. Christ Jesus chose you to be his very own people, and you worship in his name, as we and all others do who call him Lord.

3 My prayer is that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!
4 I never stop thanking my God for treating you with undeserved grace by giving you Christ Jesus, 5 who helps you speak and understand so well. 6 Now you are certain that everything we told you about our Lord Christ Jesus is true. 7 You are not missing out on any blessings, as you wait for him to return. 8 And until the day Christ does return, he will keep you completely innocent.

9 God can be trusted, and he chose you to be partners with his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Taking Sides

12 t They have said that some of you claim to follow me, while others claim to follow Apollos or Petert or Christ.
13 Has Christ been divided up? Was I nailed to a cross for you? Were you baptized in my name? 14 t I thank Godt that I didn't baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius. 15 Not one of you can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 t I did baptize the familyt of Stephanas, but I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.

17 Christ did not send me to baptize. He sent me to tell the good news without using words that sound wise and would make the cross of Christ lose its power.

Christ Is God's Power //and Wisdom

19 t As God says in the Scriptures,
“I will destroy the wisdom
of all who claim
to be wise.
I will confuse those
who think they know
so much.”
20  t What happened to those wise people? What happened to those experts in the Scriptures? What happened to the ones who think they have all the answers? Didn't God show that the wisdom of this world is foolish?

21 t God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him.
Instead, God chose to save only those who believe the foolish message we preach. 22 Jews ask for miracles, and Greeks want something that sounds wise. 23 But we preach that Christ was nailed to a cross. Most Jews have problems with this, and most Gentiles think it is foolish. 24 Our message is God's power and wisdom for the Jews and the Greeks that he has chosen.

25 Even when God is foolish, he is wiser than everyone else, and even when God is weak, he is stronger than everyone else.
26 My dear friends, remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn't think that many of you were wise. Only a few of you were in places of power, and not many of you came from important families.

27 But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame.
28 What the world thinks is worthless, useless, and nothing at all is what God has used to destroy what the world considers important. 29 God did all this to keep anyone from bragging to him. 30 You are God's children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy. 31 t So if you want to brag, do what the Scriptures say and brag about the Lord.
