1 Corintios 1

Saludo

1 Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y Sóstenes, nuestro hermano,2 a la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, a los que han sido santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados a ser santos, con todos los que en cualquier parte invocan el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Señor de ellos y nuestro:

3 Gracia y paz a ustedes de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Acción de Gracias

4 Siempre doy gracias a mi Dios por ustedes, por la gracia de Dios que les fue dada en Cristo Jesús.5 Porque en todo ustedes fueron enriquecidos en El, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento,6 así como el testimonio acerca de Cristo (el Mesías) fue confirmado en ustedes;7 de manera que nada les falta en ningún don, esperando ansiosamente la revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.8 El también los confirmará hasta el fin, para que sean irreprensibles en el día de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

9 Fiel es Dios, por medio de quien fueron llamados a la comunión con Su Hijo Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.

Exhortación a la Unidad

10 Les ruego, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que todos se pongan de acuerdo (que hablen lo mismo), y que no haya divisiones entre ustedes, sino que estén enteramente unidos en un mismo sentir (de una misma mente) y en un mismo parecer.11 Porque he sido informado acerca de ustedes, hermanos míos, por los de Cloé, que hay discusiones entre ustedes.12 Me refiero a que cada uno de ustedes dice: "Yo soy de Pablo," otro: "yo de Apolos," otro: "yo de Cefas," y otro: "yo de Cristo."

13 ¿Está dividido Cristo? ¿Acaso fue Pablo crucificado por ustedes? ¿O fueron bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?
14 Doy gracias a Dios que no bauticé a ninguno de ustedes, excepto a Crispo y a Gayo,15 para que nadie diga que fueron bautizados en mi nombre.16 También bauticé a los de la casa de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no sé si bauticé a algún otro.

17 Pues Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio (anunciar las buenas nuevas), no con palabras elocuentes, para que no se haga vana la cruz de Cristo.

Cristo, Poder de Dios

18 Porque la palabra de la cruz es necedad para los que se pierden, pero para nosotros los salvos es poder de Dios.

19 Porque está escrito: "Destruire la sabiduria de los sabios, y el entendimiento de los inteligentes desechare."
20 ¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde está el escriba? ¿Dónde está el que sabe discutir en este siglo (mundo)? ¿No ha hecho Dios que la sabiduría de este mundo sea necedad?21 Pues ya que en la sabiduría de Dios, el mundo no conoció a Dios por medio de su propia sabiduría, agradó a Dios mediante la necedad de la predicación salvar a los que creen.22 Porque en verdad los Judíos piden señales (milagros) y los Griegos buscan sabiduría;23 pero nosotros predicamos a Cristo crucificado, piedra de tropiezo para los Judíos, y necedad para los Gentiles.24 Sin embargo, para los llamados, tanto Judíos como Griegos, Cristo es poder de Dios y sabiduría de Dios.

25 Porque la necedad de Dios es más sabia que los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.

Cristo, Sabiduría de Dios

26 Pues consideren, hermanos, su llamamiento. No hubo muchos sabios conforme a la carne (normas humanas), ni muchos poderosos, ni muchos nobles.27 Sino que Dios ha escogido lo necio del mundo para avergonzar a los sabios; y Dios ha escogido lo débil del mundo para avergonzar a lo que es fuerte.28 También Dios ha escogido lo vil y despreciado del mundo: lo que no es, para anular lo que es,

29 para que nadie se jacte delante de Dios.
30 Pero por obra Suya están ustedes en Cristo Jesús, el cual se hizo para nosotros sabiduría de Dios, y justificación, santificación y redención,31 para que, tal como está escrito: "El que se gloria, que se glorie en el Señor."

1 Corinthians 1

Salutation

1 From Paul,t called to be an apostle of Christ Jesuss by the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother,2 to the church of God that is in Corinth,s to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, and called to be saints, with all those in every place who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.t

3 Grace and peace to yout from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanksgiving

4 I always thank my God for you because of the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus.5 For you were made richs in every way in him, in all your speech and in every kind of knowledges –6 just as the testimony about Christ has been confirmed among you –7 so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelations of our Lord Jesus Christ.8 Het will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Divisions in the Church

10 I urge you, brothers and sisters,t by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together,t to end your divisions,t and to be united by the same mind and purpose.t11 For members of Chloe’s household have made it clear to me, my brothers and sisters,t that there are quarrelst among you.12 Now I mean this, thatt each of you is saying, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” or “I am with Cephas,” or “I am with Christ.”13 Is Christ divided? Paul wasn’t crucified for you, was he?t Or were you in fact baptized in the name of Paul?t14 I thank Gods that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,15 so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name!16 (I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Otherwise, I do not remember whether I baptized anyone else.)

17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel – and not with clever speech, so that the cross of Christ would not become useless.t

The Message of the Cross

18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.19 For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.”s20 Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law?t Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?21 For since in the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching.22 For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,23 but we preach about a crucified Christ,t a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.24 But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,t and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.t
26 Think about the circumstances of your call,t brothers and sisters.t Not many were wise by human standards,t not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position.t27 But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.28 God choset what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,29 so that no one can boast in his presence.30 He is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus,t who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”s
