1 Corintios 10

Amonestaciones contra la idolatría

1 No quiero, hermanos, que ignoréis que nuestros padres estuvieron todos bajo la nube, y todos pasaron el mar;2 que todos, en unión con Moisés, fueron bautizados en la nube y en el mar,3 todos comieron el mismo alimento espiritual4 y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual, porque bebían de la roca espiritual que los seguía. Esa roca era Cristo.

5 Pero de la mayoría de ellos no se agradó Dios, por lo cual quedaron tendidos en el desierto.
6 Estas cosas sucedieron como ejemplos para nosotros, para que no codiciemos cosas malas, como ellos codiciaron.7 Ni seáis idólatras, como algunos de ellos, según está escrito: «Se sentó el pueblo a comer y a beber, y se levantó a jugar.»8 Ni forniquemos, como algunos de ellos fornicaron, y cayeron en un día veintitrés mil.9 Ni tentemos al Señor, como también algunos de ellos lo tentaron, y perecieron por las serpientes.

10 Ni murmuréis, como algunos de ellos murmuraron, y perecieron por mano del destructor.
11 Todas estas cosas les acontecieron como ejemplo, y están escritas para amonestarnos a nosotros, que vivimos en estos tiempos finales.12 Así que el que piensa estar firme, mire que no caiga.

13 No os ha sobrevenido ninguna prueba que no sea humana; pero fiel es Dios, que no os dejará ser probados más de lo que podéis resistir, sino que dará también juntamente con la prueba la salida, para que podáis soportarla.
14 Por tanto, amados míos, huid de la idolatría.15 Como a sensatos os hablo; juzgad vosotros lo que digo.16 La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no es la comunión de la sangre de Cristo? El pan que partimos, ¿no es la comunión del cuerpo de Cristo?

17 Siendo uno solo el pan, nosotros, con ser muchos, somos un cuerpo, pues todos participamos de aquel mismo pan.
18 Mirad a Israel según la carne: los que comen de los sacrificios, ¿no son partícipes del altar?19 ¿Qué digo, pues? ¿Que el ídolo es algo, o que es algo lo que se sacrifica a los ídolos?20 Antes digo que aquello que los gentiles sacrifican, a los demonios lo sacrifican y no a Dios; y no quiero que vosotros os hagáis partícipes con los demonios.21 No podéis beber la copa del Señor y la copa de los demonios; no podéis participar de la mesa del Señor y de la mesa de los demonios.

22 ¿O provocaremos a celos al Señor? ¿Somos acaso más fuertes que él?

Haced todo para la gloria de Dios

23 Todo me es lícito, pero no todo conviene; todo me es lícito, pero no todo edifica.

24 Nadie busque su propio bien, sino el del otro.
25 De todo lo que se vende en la carnicería, comed, sin preguntar nada por motivos de conciencia,

26 porque del Señor es la tierra y todo cuanto en ella hay.
27 Si algún incrédulo os invita, y queréis ir, de todo lo que se os ponga delante comed, sin preguntar nada por motivos de conciencia.28 Pero si alguien os dice: «Esto fue sacrificado a los ídolos», no lo comáis, por causa de aquel que lo declaró y por motivos de conciencia, porque del Señor es la tierra y cuanto en ella hay.,29 Me refiero a la conciencia del otro, no a la tuya, pues ¿por qué se ha de juzgar mi libertad por la conciencia de otro?

30 Y si yo con agradecimiento participo, ¿por qué he de ser censurado por aquello por lo cual doy gracias?
31 Si, pues, coméis o bebéis o hacéis otra cosa, hacedlo todo para la gloria de Dios.32 No seáis tropiezo ni a judíos ni a gentiles ni a la iglesia de Dios.

33 Del mismo modo, también yo en todas las cosas agrado a todos, no procurando mi propio beneficio sino el de muchos, para que sean salvos.

Don't Worship Idols

1  t Friends, I want to remind you that all our ancestors walked under the cloud and went through the sea. 2 This was like being baptized and becoming followers of Moses. 3 t All of them also ate the same spiritual food 4 t and drank the same spiritual drink, which flowed from the spiritual rock that followed them. That rock was Christ.

5 t But most of them did not please God. So they died, and their bodies were scattered all over the desert.
6 What happened to them is a warning to keep us from wanting to do the same evil things. 7 t They worshiped idols, just as the Scriptures say, “The people sat down to eat and drink. Then they got up to dance around.” So don't worship idols. 8 t Some of those people did shameful things, and in a single day about 23,000 died. Don't do shameful things as they did. 9 t And don't try to test Christ, t as some of them did and were later bitten by poisonous snakes. 10 t Don't even grumble, as some of them did and were killed by the destroying angel.

11 These things happened to them as a warning to us. All this was written in the Scriptures to teach us who live in these last days.
12 Even if you think you can stand up to temptation, be careful not to fall.

13 t You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations.
14 My friends, you must keep away from idols. 15 I am speaking to you as people who have enough sense to know what I am talking about. 16 t When we drink from the cup we ask God to bless, isn't that sharing in the blood of Christ? When we eat the bread we break, isn't that sharing in the body of Christ?

17 By sharing in the same loaf of bread, we become one body, even though there are many of us.
18  t t Aren't the people of Israel sharing in the worship when they gather around the altar and eat the sacrifices offered there? 19 Am I saying that either the idols or the food sacrificed to them is anything at all? 20 t No, I am not! This food is really sacrificed to demons and not to God. I don't want you to have anything to do with demons. 21 You cannot drink from the cup of demons and still drink from the Lord's cup. You cannot eat at the table of demons and still eat at the Lord's table.

22 t We would make the Lord jealous if we did this. And we are not stronger than the Lord.

Always Honor God

26 t The Scriptures say, “The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord.”
27 If an unbeliever invites you to dinner, and you want to go, then go. Eat whatever you are served. Don't cause a problem for someone's conscience by asking where the food came from. 28-29 But if you are told it has been sacrificed to idols, don't cause a problem by eating it. I don't mean a problem for yourself, but for the one who told you. Why should my freedom be limited by someone else's conscience?

30 If I give thanks for what I eat, why should anyone accuse me of doing wrong?
31 When you eat or drink or do anything else, always do it to honor God. 32 Don't cause problems for Jews or Greeks or anyone else who belongs to God's church. 33 I always try to please others instead of myself, in the hope that many of them will be saved.
