コリント人への第一の手紙 10

一○

1 愛する皆さん。　昔、私たちの先祖が荒野でどんな経験をしたか、決して忘れてはなりません。　神様は、雲を案内役として立て、彼らを導きました。　また、全員が安全に紅海を通り抜けるように導きました。　2 これは、彼らの「バプテスマ」であった、とみなしてよいでしょう。　彼らは、モーセに従う者として――すなわち、指導者であるモーセにすべてを任せて――海と雲によって、バプテスマを受けたのです。　3-4 さらに神様は、奇蹟によって、荒野で彼らに、食べ物と飲み水をお与えになりました。　彼らは、キリスト様から水をいただいたのです。　キリスト様は、信仰に新しい力を与える力強い岩として、いっしょにおられたのでした。　5 それにもかかわらず、大部分の者が神様に従わなかったので、神様は、荒野で滅ぼしてしまいました。
6 この事実から、大切な教訓を学べます。　悪事を追い求めてはならないこと、　7 また、偶像を拝んではならないことです。　〔旧約聖書には、金の子牛を拝むために「人々は座っては飲み食いし、立っては踊った」と書いてあります。〕
8 ほかにも、教訓があります。　彼らのうちのある人たちが外国人の女と不道徳な罪を犯した時は、一日のうちに二万三千人もが死にました。　9 また、彼らのように、主がどれだけ忍耐してくださるかを、試すようなまねをしてはなりません。　主を試そうとした人たちは、蛇にかまれて死にました。　10 また、彼らのように、神様に向かって文句を言ったり、「神様のなさり方は不当だ」などと、不平を並べてはなりません。　それゆえに、神様は御使いを遣わして、彼らを滅ぼされたのです。
11 先祖たちの身に起こった、これらのことは、同じことをくり返すなと私たちに警告する実例、すなわち、生きた教訓です。　それが記録されたのは、世の終わりが近づいている今、私たちがそれを読んで、彼らの例から教訓を学ぶためにほかなりません。
12 ですから、よく注意しなさい。　「私は、そんなことは絶対にしないから大丈夫」などと思っている人がいれば、そういう人こそ、よくよく注意しなければなりません。　同じ罪を犯すかもしれないからです。　13 ただ、このことを覚えていてください。　あなたがたの生活の中に入り込む悪い欲望は、別に新しいものでも、特別なものでもないということです。　ほかにも多くの人たちが、あなたがたよりも先に、同じ問題にぶつかってきたのです。　どんな誘惑にも、抵抗するすべはあります。　神様は決して、とてもたち打ちできないほどの誘惑に会わせたりは、なさいません。　神様がそう約束されたのであり、神様の約束は必ず実行されるのです。　神様は、あなたがたが、誘惑に忍耐強く立ち向かえるように、それから逃れる方法を教えてくださいます。　14 ですから、愛する皆さん、偶像礼拝は、どんなものでも、用心深く避けてください。
15 あなたがたは頭がよいのですから、私の言うことが正しいかどうか、自分で考え、判断してください。　16 私たちが聖餐式で主の食卓に着き、ぶどう酒を飲んで、主の祝福を求める時、それは、そのぶどう酒を飲む者がみな、キリスト様の血の祝福を共に受けることを、意味しないでしょうか。　また、一つのパンをちぎって共に食べる時、それは、私たちがキリスト様の体の恩恵を共に受けることを、示すのではないでしょうか。　17 私たちの数がどんなに多かろうと、問題ではありません。　みな同じパンを食べて、同じキリスト様の、体の部分であることを示すのです。　18 ユダヤ人のことを考えてごらんなさい。　供え物を食べる者はみな、それによって一つとされているのです。
19 私は何を言おうとしているのでしょうか。　異教徒たちが供え物をささげる偶像は、実際に生きているとか、ほんとうの神であるとか、あるいは、偶像への供え物に何か価値があるとか、言おうとしているのでしょうか。　とんでもありません。　20 私が言いたいのは、偶像に物を供える人は、もちろん神様にではなく、悪霊にささげる点で、みな一つに結ばれているということです。　あなたがたの中から、偶像への供え物を異教徒たちと共に食べたりして、悪霊の仲間になる人など、一人も出てほしくありません。　21 主の食卓の杯と悪霊の食卓の杯の両方を飲むことはできません。　同じように、主の食卓のパンと悪霊の食卓のパンを、両方とも食べることなどできません。
22 いったい、あなたがたは、主を怒らせようとしているのですか。　自分が主よりも強いとでも言うのですか。　23 もし食べたければ、偶像への供え物を食べても、一向にかまいません。　その肉を食べても、神様のおきてに反しません。　しかし、だからといって、それをどんどん食べてよい、ということにはなりません。　たとい、少しもおきてに反しないことでも、最善とは限らず、また有益でない場合もあるのです。　24 自分のことばかり考えてはいけません。　他人を思いやり、何がその人にとって最善か、よく考えなさい。
25 こうすればよいのです。　市場で売られている肉は、どれでも自由に食べなさい。　それが偶像に供えられた物かどうか、いちいち尋ねなくてよいのです。　そうすれば、良心を傷つけることもないでしょう。　26 地と、地上にある良いものはみな、主のものであり、あなたがたを楽しませるために、あるのですから。
27 クリスチャンでない人から食事に招待された場合、行きたければ、行ってかまいません。　そして、出される物は、何でも食べなさい。　それについて、いちいち尋ねてはいけません。　尋ねなければ、偶像に供えられた物かどうかわからないし、食べて良心が傷つく心配もありません。　28 しかし、もしだれか、「この肉は偶像に供えられたものです」と注意してくれる人がいたら、その人のために、またその人の良心のために、出された肉を食べるのはやめなさい。　29 この場合、肉についての自分の判断よりも、相手の考えが、大切なのです。
しかし、あなたはこう言うでしょう。　「なぜ、他人の考えに支配されたり、束縛されたりしなければならないのですか。　30 神様に感謝してそれを食べることができれば、他人から、とやかく言われる筋合いは、ないではありませんか。」　31 では、その理由を申しましょう。　つまり、食べるにも、飲むにも、何をするにも、ただ神様の栄光のためにすべきだからです。　32 ですから、相手がユダヤ人であれ、外国人であれ、クリスチャンであれ、だれをも、つまずかせてはいけません。　33 これは、私の生活の原則でもあります。　私は、何をするにも、すべての人に喜ばれようと務めています。　自分のしたいことや、つごうの良いことをするのでなく、人々が救われるのに最善のことをするのです。

1 Corinthians 10

1 For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;2 and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;3 and did all eat the same spiritual food;4 and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them: and the rock was Christ.5 Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.9 Neither let us make trial of the Lord, as some of them made trial, and perished by the serpents.10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.11 Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.14 Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a communion of the body of Christ?17 seeing that we, who are many, are one bread, one body: for we are all partake of the one bread.18 Behold Israel after the flesh: have not they that eat the sacrifices communion with the altar?19 What say I then? that a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have communion with demons.21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?23 All things are lawful; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful; but not all things edify.24 Let no man seek his own, but each his neighbor’s good.25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, eat, asking no question for conscience’ sake,26 for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.27 If one of them that believe not biddeth you to a feast, and ye are disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience’ sake.28 But if any man say unto you, This hath been offered in sacrifice, eat not, for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake:29 conscience, I say, not thine own, but the other’s; for why is my liberty judged by another conscience?30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.32 Give no occasions of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God:33 even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
