1 Corintios 10

El mal ejemplo de Israel

1 Hermanos, quiero que recuerden que todos nuestros antepasados estuvieron bajo la nubet y que todos atravesaron el Mar Rojo.2 Fue como si todos hubieran sido bautizados en la nube y en el mar para ser seguidores de Moisés.3 Todos comieron el mismo alimento espiritual,4 y bebieron la misma bebida espiritual. Bebieron de la roca espiritual que iba con ellos, y la roca era Cristo.

5 Pero Dios no estaba contento con muchos de ellos, por eso sus cuerpos quedaron tendidos por el desierto.
6 Todo eso sucedió para servirnos de ejemplo, para que no deseemos lo malo, como ellos.7 No adoremos ídolos, como hicieron algunos de ellos. Así está escrito: «Todos se reunieron a comer y a beber y luego empezaron a parrandear».t8 No cometamos inmoralidades sexuales, como hicieron muchos de ellos. En un solo día murieron veintitrés mil de ellos por culpa de esa inmoralidad.9 No pongamos a prueba a Cristot como lo hicieron algunos de ellos, quienes murieron víctimas de las serpientes.

10 No nos quejemos, como se quejaron algunos y por eso el ángel de la muerte los mató.
11 Todo eso sucedió para servirnos de ejemplo, y fue escrito como advertencia para nosotros que vivimos en los últimos tiempos.12 Así que, el que se sienta muy seguro y firme, cuídese de no caer.

13 Ustedes sólo han tenido las mismas tentaciones que todos los demás. Pero Dios es fiel y no va a dejar que sean tentados más allá de lo que puedan soportar. Así que sepan que cuando sean tentados, van a poder soportar, porque Dios les dará una salida.
14 Por eso, estimados hermanos, ni se les ocurra adorar ídolos.15 Les hablo como a gente con la que se puede razonar, juzguen ustedes mismos lo que les digo.16 Ciertamente, beber de la copa de bendiciónt por la que damos gracias, ¿no es compartir la sangre de Cristo? Y comer del pan que partimos, ¿no es compartir el cuerpo de Cristo?

17 Existe un solo pan y nosotros somos muchos. Eso significa que cuando todos comemos y compartimos ese pan, formamos un solo cuerpo.
18 Fíjense en lo que ocurre cuando el pueblo de Israelt ofrece sacrificios. Cuando comen la carne sacrificada en el altar, ¿acaso no la están compartiendo con Dios?19 No estoy diciendo que los sacrificios a los ídolos tienen algún valor ni que los ídolos mismos lo tengan.20 No, porque esos sacrificios se ofrecen a los demonios, no a Dios, y no quiero que ustedes compartan con los demonios.21 Ustedes no pueden beber de la copa del Señor y, a la vez, de la copa de los demonios. No pueden compartir de la mesa del Señor y, a la vez, de la mesa de los demonios.

22 ¿Acaso queremos provocar los celos del Señort? No somos más fuertes que él, ¿verdad?

Libres para dar gloria a Dios

23 Se dice: «Todo está permitido», pero no todo es bueno. «Todo está permitido», pero no todo es beneficioso.

24 Que nadie busque su provecho personal, sino el beneficio de los demás.
25 Coman cualquier carne que se venda en la carnicería, sin preguntar si se debe comer o no.

26 Pues «la tierra, y todo lo que hay en ella, pertenece al Señor».t
27 Si alguien que no cree en Cristo los invita a comer y ustedes deciden ir, coman de todo lo que les den, sin preguntar si se debe comer o no.28 Pero si alguien les dice: «Esta carne es una ofrenda para un ídolo», no coman nada, por el bien de quien se lo dijo, y por lo que pueda pensar.

29 No digo que ustedes piensen que no se debe hacer, sino que la otra persona supone que ustedes no deben hacer eso.
Pero alguno puede preguntar ¿por qué ha de ser juzgada mi propia libertad por lo que otra persona piense que está mal?30 Si doy gracias por lo que como, ¿por qué se me ha de criticar por comer?31 Porque lo importante es glorificar a Dios en todo, ya sea al comer, al beber o al hacer cualquier otra cosa.32 No hagan nada que ofenda a los demás: ni a los judíos, ni a los que no son judíost, ni a los de la iglesiat de Dios.

33 Más bien, hagan lo que hago yo: siempre trato de agradar a todos con lo que hago, no busco mis propios intereses, sino los de la mayoría, para que sean salvos.

Avoid Israel's Mistakes

1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea;2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;3 and all ate the same spiritual food;4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.

6 Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved.7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, "THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY."8 Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day.9 Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents.10 Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.15 I speak as to wise men; you judge what I say.16 Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?17 Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread.18 Look at the nation Israel; are not those who eat the sacrifices sharers in the altar?19 What do I mean then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?20  No, but I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers in demons.21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we?

23 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify.24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor.25 Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions for conscience' sake;26 FOR THE EARTH IS THE LORD'S, AND ALL IT CONTAINS.27 If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions for conscience' sake.28 But if anyone says to you, "This is meat sacrificed to idols," do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience' sake;29 I mean not your own conscience, but the other man's; for why is my freedom judged by another's conscience?30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered concerning that for which I give thanks?

31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.32 Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God;33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit but the profit of the many, so that they may be saved.
