Mga Abilidad nga Ginahatag sang Espiritu Santo

1  Mga utod ko kay Cristo , gusto ko nga maintiendihan gid ninyo ang parte sa mga abilidad nga ginahatag sang Espiritu Santo.2 Nahibaluan ninyo nga sang wala pa kamo nakakilala sa Dios, ginpatalang kamo agod magsimba sa mga dios-dios nga indi makahambal.

3 Gani gusto ko nga mahibaluan ninyo nga wala sing tawo nga ginatuytuyan sang Espiritu sang Dios nga makapakamalaot kay Jesus. Kag wala man sang tawo nga makasiling nga si Jesus ang Ginoo kon wala siya ginatuytuyan sang Espiritu Santo.
4 May nagkalain-lain kita nga mga abilidad, pero isa lang ka Espiritu ang ginahalinan sini.5 Nagkalain-lain ang paagi sa pag-alagad, pero isa lang ka Ginoo ang aton ginaalagaran.6 Nagkalain-lain ang ginapahimo sang Dios sa aton, pero isa lang ka Dios ang nagagahom sa aton tanan agod mahimo ta ini.7  Ang tagsa-tagsa ginhatagan sang abilidad nga nagapakita nga ang Espiritu Santo ara sa iya, agod makabulig siya sa iya kapareho nga tumuluo.8  Ang iban ginhatagan sang Espiritu Santo sang abilidad sa pagsugid parte sa kaalam sang Dios , kag ang iban ginhatagan sang Espiritu Santo sang abilidad sa pagsaysay sina.9  May ara man nga ginhatagan sing dako gid nga pagtuo, kag may ara man nga ginhatagan sang abilidad sa pagpang-ayo sang mga nagamasakit, kag ini tanan halin sa Espiritu Santo .10  Ang iban ginhatagan sang Espiritu Santo sang gahom sa paghimo sing mga milagro; ang iban, abilidad sa pagsugid sang mensahi sang Dios; kag ang iban, abilidad sa pag-ihibalo kon bala ang nagagahom sa isa ka tawo amo ang Espiritu Santo ukon indi. May ginhatagan man sang abilidad nga maghambal sa iban nga mga lingguahe nga wala nila natun-i, kag may ara man nga ginhatagan sang abilidad sa pagsaysay kon ano ang kahulugan sang mga ginapanghambal sa sadto nga mga lingguahe.

11 Pero isa gid lang ka Espiritu ang nagahatag sini tanan, kag ginapanagtag niya ini sa tagsa ka tawo suno sa iya gusto.

Ang Aton Halimbawa mga Parte sang Isa ka Lawas

12  Ang lawas may madamo nga mga parte pero isa lang ka lawas. Pareho man sini sa aton nga mga tumuluo nga lawas ni Cristo.

13  Kay kita tanan, Judio man ukon indi, ulipon ukon hilway, ginbautisohan sa isa lang ka Espiritu agod mangin isa ka lawas. Kag isa man ka Espiritu ang ginbaton naton tanan. + 13 ginbaton naton tanan: sa literal, ginpainom sa aton tanan.
14 Ang lawas sang tawo isa lang pero may madamo nga mga parte.15 Kon magsiling ang tiil, ina wala nagakahulugan nga indi siya parte sang lawas.16 Kag kon magsiling ang dulunggan, ina wala man nagakahulugan nga indi siya parte sang lawas.17 Kay kon ang bug-os nga lawas sang tawo pulos lang mata, paano ang iya pagkabati? Kag kon ang bug-os nga lawas pulos lang dulunggan, paano ang iya pagpanimaho?18 Pero wala kita paghimua sang Dios nga pareho sina, kundi suno sa iya gusto, ginhimo niya ang aton lawas nga may nagkalain-lain nga parte.19 Kon ang lawas isa lang ka parte, indi na ina matawag nga lawas.

20 Ang matuod, madamo ang mga parte sang aton lawas, pero isa gid lang ka lawas.
21 Amo ina nga ang mata indi makasiling sa kamot, kag ang ulo indi man makasiling sa tiil,22 Ang matuod, ang mga parte sang lawas nga daw maluya kinahanglan ta gid.23 Ang mga parte sang lawas nga daw indi gid importante aton gihapon ginaatipan sing maayo; kag ang mga parte nga daw malaw-ay tulukon aton man gihapon ginapatahom.24 Indi na naton kinahanglan nga himuon ini sa mga parte nga matahom na nga daan. Amo ini ang ginhimo sang Dios sa aton lawas, agod mahatagan sing dungog ang mga parte nga daw indi gid importante.25 Ginhimo sang Dios ang mga parte sang aton lawas agod magbinuligay, kag indi agod magbinahin-bahin.

26 Gani kon ang isa ka parte nagaantos, ang tanan nga parte nagaantos man. Kag kon ang isa ka parte ginadayaw, ang tanan nga parte nalipay man.
27  it Ang buot ko silingon amo ini : kita nga mga tumuluo amo ang lawas ni Cristo, kag ang tagsa-tagsa sa aton parte sang iya lawas.28  Kag sa sini nga lawas, nga amo ang iglesya, nagbutang ang Dios sang mga masunod : una sa tanan, mga apostoles; ikaduha, mga propeta; ikatlo, mga manunudlo; dayon mga manughimo sang mga milagro, mga manug-ayo sang mga masakiton, mga manugbulig, mga administrador, kag mga manughambal sang iban nga lingguahe nga wala natun-i.29 Nahibaluan man ninyo nga kita tanan indi mga apostoles. Indi man kita tanan mga propeta sang Dios, ukon mga manunudlo. Indi man ang tanan manughimo sang mga milagro.30 Ang gahom sa pag-ayo sang masakit wala man ginhatag sa aton tanan, ukon ang abilidad sa paghambal sa iban nga lingguahe nga wala natun-i. Kag kita tanan wala man paghatagi sang abilidad sa pagsaysay kon ano ang kahulugan sang mga ginpanghambal sa sadto nga mga lingguahe.31 Pero tinguhai ninyo nga mabaton halin sa Dios ang mga importante gid nga mga abilidad. Kag karon itudlo ko sa inyo ang labing maayo sa tanan.

Spiritual Gifts

1-3 What I want to talk about now is the various ways God's Spirit gets worked into our lives. This is complex and often mis-understood, but I want you to be informed and knowledgeable. Remember how you were when you didn't know God, led from one phony god to another, never knowing what you were doing, just doing it because everybody else did it? It's different in this life. God wants us to use our intelligence, to seek to understand as well as we can. For instance, by using your heads, you know perfectly well that the Spirit of God would never prompt anyone to say "Jesus be damned!" Nor would anyone be inclined to say "Jesus is Master!" without the insight of the Holy Spirit.

4-11 God's various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God's Spirit. God's various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! The variety is wonderful:
wise counsel
clear understanding
simple trust
healing the sick
miraculous acts
proclamation
distinguishing between spirits
tongues
interpretation of tongues.
All these gifts have a common origin, but are handed out one by one by the one Spirit of God. He decides who gets what, and when.

12-13 You can easily enough see how this kind of thing works by looking no further than your own body. Your body has many parts—limbs, organs, cells—but no matter how many parts you can name, you're still one body. It's exactly the same with Christ. By means of his one Spirit, we all said good-bye to our partial and piecemeal lives. We each used to independently call our own shots, but then we entered into a large and integrated life in which he has the final say in everything. (This is what we proclaimed in word and action when we were baptized.) Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain—his Spirit—where we all come to drink. The old labels we once used to identify ourselves—labels like Jew or Greek, slave or free—are no longer useful. We need something larger, more comprehensive.

14-18 I want you to think about how all this makes you more significant, not less. A body isn't just a single part blown up into something huge. It's all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning together. If Foot said, "I'm not elegant like Hand, embellished with rings; I guess I don't belong to this body," would that make it so? If Ear said, "I'm not beautiful like Eye, limpid and expressive; I don't deserve a place on the head," would you want to remove it from the body? If the body was all eye, how could it hear? If all ear, how could it smell? As it is, we see that God has carefully placed each part of the body right where he wanted it.

19-24 But I also want you to think about how this keeps your significance from getting blown up into self-importance. For no matter how significant you are, it is only because of what you are a part of. An enormous eye or a gigantic hand wouldn't be a body, but a monster. What we have is one body with many parts, each its proper size and in its proper place. No part is important on its own. Can you imagine Eye telling Hand, "Get lost; I don't need you"? Or, Head telling Foot, "You're fired; your job has been phased out"? As a matter of fact, in practice it works the other way—the "lower" the part, the more basic, and therefore necessary. You can live without an eye, for instance, but not without a stomach. When it's a part of your own body you are concerned with, it makes no difference whether the part is visible or clothed, higher or lower. You give it dignity and honor just as it is, without comparisons. If anything, you have more concern for the lower parts than the higher. If you had to choose, wouldn't you prefer good digestion to full-bodied hair?

25-26 The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don't, the parts we see and the parts we don't. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance.

27-31 You are Christ's body—that's who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your "part" mean anything. You're familiar with some of the parts that God has formed in his church, which is his "body":
apostles prophets teachers miracle workers healers helpers organizers those who pray in tongues. But it's obvious by now, isn't it, that Christ's church is a complete Body and not a gigantic, unidimensional Part? It's not all Apostle, not all Prophet, not all Miracle Worker, not all Healer, not all Prayer in Tongues, not all Interpreter of Tongues. And yet some of you keep competing for so-called "important" parts.
But now I want to lay out a far better way for you.
