1 بھائیو، مَیں نہیں چاہتا کہ آپ روحانی نعمتوں کے بارے میں ناواقف رہیں۔2 آپ جانتے ہیں کہ ایمان لانے سے پیشتر آپ کو بار بار بہکایا اور گونگے بُتوں کی طرف کھینچا جاتا تھا۔3 اِسی کے پیشِ نظر مَیں آپ کو آگاہ کرتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے روح کی ہدایت سے بولنے والا کبھی نہیں کہے گا، ”عیسیٰ پر لعنت۔“ اور روح القدس کی ہدایت سے بولنے والے کے سوا کوئی نہیں کہے گا، ”عیسیٰ خداوند ہے۔“4 گو طرح طرح کی نعمتیں ہوتی ہیں، لیکن روح ایک ہی ہے۔5 طرح طرح کی خدمتیں ہوتی ہیں، لیکن خداوند ایک ہی ہے۔6 اللہ اپنی قدرت کا اظہار مختلف انداز سے کرتا ہے، لیکن خدا ایک ہی ہے جو سب میں ہر طرح کا کام کرتا ہے۔7 ہم میں سے ہر ایک میں روح القدس کا اظہار کسی نعمت سے ہوتا ہے۔ یہ نعمتیں اِس لئے دی جاتی ہیں تاکہ ہم ایک دوسرے کی مدد کریں۔8 ایک کو روح القدس حکمت کا کلام عطا کرتا ہے، دوسرے کو وہی روح علم و عرفان کا کلام۔9 تیسرے کو وہی روح پختہ ایمان دیتا ہے اور چوتھے کو وہی ایک روح شفا دینے کی نعمتیں۔10 وہ ایک کو معجزے کرنے کی طاقت دیتا ہے، دوسرے کو نبوّت کرنے کی صلاحیت اور تیسرے کو مختلف روحوں میں امتیاز کرنے کی نعمت۔ ایک کو اُس سے غیرزبانیں بولنے کی نعمت ملتی ہے اور دوسرے کو اِن کا ترجمہ کرنے کی۔11 وہی ایک روح یہ تمام نعمتیں تقسیم کرتا ہے۔ اور وہی فیصلہ کرتا ہے کہ کس کو کیا نعمت ملنی ہے۔12 انسانی جسم کے بہت سے اعضا ہوتے ہیں، لیکن یہ تمام اعضا ایک ہی بدن کو تشکیل دیتے ہیں۔ مسیح کا بدن بھی ایسا ہے۔13 خواہ ہم یہودی تھے یا یونانی، غلام تھے یا آزاد، بپتسمے سے ہم سب کو ایک ہی روح کی معرفت ایک ہی بدن میں شامل کیا گیا ہے، ہم سب کو ایک ہی روح پلایا گیا ہے۔14 بدن کے بہت سے حصے ہوتے ہیں، نہ صرف ایک۔15 فرض کریں کہ پاؤں کہے، ”مَیں ہاتھ نہیں ہوں اِس لئے بدن کا حصہ نہیں۔“ کیا یہ کہنے پر اُس کا بدن سے تعلق ختم ہو جائے گا؟16 یا فرض کریں کہ کان کہے، ”مَیں آنکھ نہیں ہوں اِس لئے بدن کا حصہ نہیں۔“ کیا یہ کہنے پر اُس کا بدن سے ناتا ٹوٹ جائے گا؟17 اگر پورا جسم آنکھ ہی ہوتا تو پھر سننے کی صلاحیت کہاں ہوتی؟ اگر سارا بدن کان ہی ہوتا تو پھر سونگھنے کا کیا بنتا؟18 لیکن اللہ نے جسم کے مختلف اعضا بنا کر ہر ایک کو وہاں لگایا جہاں وہ چاہتا تھا۔19 اگر ایک ہی عضو پورا جسم ہوتا تو پھر یہ کس قسم کا جسم ہوتا؟20 نہیں، بہت سے اعضا ہوتے ہیں، لیکن جسم ایک ہی ہے۔21 آنکھ ہاتھ سے نہیں کہہ سکتی، ”مجھے تیری ضرورت نہیں،“ نہ سر پاؤں سے کہہ سکتا ہے، ”مجھے تمہاری ضرورت نہیں۔“22 بلکہ اگر دیکھا جائے تو اکثر ایسا ہوتا ہے کہ جسم کے جو اعضا زیادہ کمزور لگتے ہیں اُن کی زیادہ ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔23 وہ اعضا جنہیں ہم کم عزت کے لائق سمجھتے ہیں اُنہیں ہم زیادہ عزت کے ساتھ ڈھانپ لیتے ہیں، اور وہ اعضا جنہیں ہم شرم سے چھپا کر رکھتے ہیں اُن ہی کا ہم زیادہ احترام کرتے ہیں۔24 اِس کے برعکس ہمارے عزت دار اعضا کو اِس کی ضرورت ہی نہیں ہوتی کہ ہم اُن کا خاص احترام کریں۔ لیکن اللہ نے جسم کو اِس طرح ترتیب دیا کہ اُس نے کم قدر اعضا کو زیادہ عزت دار ٹھہرایا،25 تاکہ جسم کے اعضا میں تفرقہ نہ ہو بلکہ وہ ایک دوسرے کی فکر کریں۔26 اگر ایک عضو دُکھ میں ہو تو اُس کے ساتھ دیگر تمام اعضا بھی دُکھ محسوس کرتے ہیں۔ اگر ایک عضو سرفراز ہو جائے تو اُس کے ساتھ باقی تمام اعضا بھی مسرور ہوتے ہیں۔27 آپ سب مل کر مسیح کا بدن ہیں اور انفرادی طور پر اُس کے مختلف اعضا۔28 اور اللہ نے اپنی جماعت میں پہلے رسول، دوسرے نبی اور تیسرے اُستاد مقرر کئے ہیں۔ پھر اُس نے ایسے لوگ بھی مقرر کئے ہیں جو معجزے کرتے، شفا دیتے، دوسروں کی مدد کرتے، انتظام چلاتے اور مختلف قسم کی غیرزبانیں بولتے ہیں۔29 کیا سب رسول ہیں؟ کیا سب نبی ہیں؟ کیا سب اُستاد ہیں؟ کیا سب معجزے کرتے ہیں؟30 کیا سب کو شفا دینے کی نعمتیں حاصل ہیں؟ کیا سب غیرزبانیں بولتے ہیں؟ کیا سب اِن کا ترجمہ کرتے ہیں؟31 لیکن آپ اُن نعمتوں کی تلاش میں رہیں جو افضل ہیں۔ اب مَیں آپ کو اِس سے کہیں عمدہ راہ بتاتا ہوں۔

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.2 Ye know that when ye were Gentiles ye were led away unto those dumb idols, howsoever ye might led.3 Wherefore I make known unto you, that no man speaking in the Spirit of God saith, Jesus is anathema; and no man can say, Jesus is Lord, but in the Holy Spirit.4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.5 And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord.6 And there are diversities of workings, but the same God, who worketh all things in all.7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit withal.8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:9 to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues:11 but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will.12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.13 For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.14 For the body is not one member, but many.15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?18 But now hath God set the members each one of them in the body, even as it pleased him.19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?20 But now they are many members, but one body.21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.22 Nay, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be more feeble are necessary:23 and those parts of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness;24 whereas our comely parts have no need: but God tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked;25 that there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.26 And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it; or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and severally members thereof.28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, divers kinds of tongues.29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?30 have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?31 But desire earnestly the greater gifts. And moreover a most excellent way show I unto you.
