1 Coríntios 14

Os dons espirituais são para ajudar a igreja a crescer na fé

1 Procurem ter amor e façam todo o possível para ter os dons do Espíritot, especialmente o dom de profetizart.2 Pois aquele que fala em outra língua fala a Deus, e não para as pessoas, porque ninguém o entende. Ele fala coisas secretas por meio do Espírito.3 Mas quem profetiza fala para as pessoas, para dar força, coragem e conforto a elas.4 Quem fala em outra língua só fortalece a si mesmo. Mas quem profetiza fortalece a igreja toda.

5 Gostaria que todos vocês tivessem o dom de falar em outras línguas. Mas gostaria mais que vocês tivessem o dom de profetizar. Quem profetiza é mais importante do que aquele que fala em outras línguas, a não ser que haja alguém que possa interpretar o que ele diz. Nesse caso a igreja será fortalecida.
6 Irmãos, vai ajudar a vocês se eu for visitá-los falando em outras línguas? Não. Só ajudarei se levar para vocês alguma revelação, algum conhecimento, alguma profeciat, ou algum ensino.7 O mesmo acontece com objetos sem vida que produzem som, como a flauta ou a harpa. Se não houver distinção nos sons que fazem, como alguém poderá saber o que está sendo tocado?8 E, se a trombeta não produzir o som certo, como os soldados saberão que devem se preparar para a batalha?9 Acontece o mesmo também com vocês. As palavras que falam com o uso da língua têm que ser claras. Se vocês não falarem com clareza ninguém entenderá o que estão dizendo, pois estarão falando para o ar.10 Sem dúvida, há muitos tipos de línguas no mundo, mas todas têm significado.11 Portanto, se eu não entender a língua em que alguém está falando comigo, serei como um estrangeiro para ele e ele, para mim.

12 O mesmo se aplica a vocês: Desde que desejam os dons espirituais, procurem progredir neles, para o fortalecimento da igreja.
13 Portanto, quem fala em outra língua deve orar para que também possa interpretá-la.14 Pois, se eu orar em outra língua, meu espírito de fato ora, mas a minha mente não ganha nada.15 Que devo fazer, então? Vou orar com o espírito, mas também orarei com a mente; vou cantar com o espírito, mas também cantarei com a mente.16 E se você louvar a Deus apenas com o espírito, como pode uma pessoa que esteja ali somente escutando dizer "amém" à sua oração de agradecimento? Ela não entende o que você está dizendo.

17 Vocês podem muito bem estar agradecendo a Deus, mas a outra pessoa não é fortalecida.
18 Agradeço a Deus, porque falo em outras línguas mais do que todos vocês.19 Porém nas reuniões da igreja prefiro falar cinco palavras que eu entenda, para ensinar também os outros, a falar dez mil palavras em outra língua.20 Irmãos, não pensem como crianças. Na maldade, sim, sejam crianças, mas no modo de pensar sejam adultos.

21 Como dizem as Escriturast:Falarei a este povo usando homens que falam outras línguase usando lábios de estrangeiros,e nem assim este povo me obedecerá—diz o Senhor.t

22 Portanto, o dom de falar em outras línguas serve de sinal aos que não acreditam em Cristo, e não aos que acreditam. Mas a profecia é para aqueles que acreditam em Cristo, e não para aqueles que não acreditam.23 Imaginem toda a igreja reunida e todos falando em outras línguas. Se chegarem algumas pessoas que não tenham entendimento ou que não acreditem em Cristo, será que não vão dizer que vocês estão loucos?24 Porém, se todos profetizaremt, e entrar alguém que não tem entendimento ou que não acredite em Cristo, o seu pecado lhe será revelado. Ele será julgado por tudo aquilo que ouvir,

25 as coisas secretas do seu coração serão reveladas e ele vai se ajoelhar e adorar a Deus. Ele dirá: "Deus realmente está com vocês".

As suas reuniões são para fortalecer a igreja

26 Então, irmãos, o que devemos fazer? Quando vocês se reunirem, um tem um hino, outro tem alguma coisa para ensinar, outro traz uma revelação de Deus, outro fala em uma outra língua e, ainda, outro interpreta essa língua. Devemos fazer tudo para fortalecer a igreja.27 Quando se fala em outra língua, apenas duas ou quando muito três pessoas devem falar, e que falem uma de cada vez. Deve haver também uma outra pessoa que interprete o que está sendo falado.

28 Mas se não houver quem possa interpretar, é melhor que não se fale em outras línguas na reunião da igreja. Que cada um fale para si mesmo e para Deus.
29 Tratando-se de profetast, somente dois ou três devem falar. Os outros devem julgar o que eles dizem.30 Se uma pessoa que está sentada recebe uma mensagem de Deus, aquele que está falando deve parar.31 Vocês todos podem profetizart, mas um de cada vez. Deste modo todos podem aprender e ser encorajados.32 Os espíritos dos profetas estão sob o controle dos próprios profetas.

33 Porque Deus não traz confusão, mas sim, paz.
Como em todas as igrejas do povo de Deus,34 as mulheres aí devem ficar caladas nas reuniões da igreja. Não lhes é permitido falar, mas devem ser submissas, assim como a lei de Moisés ensina.35 Se houver alguma coisa que elas queiram saber, devem perguntar aos seus maridos em casa. Pois para a mulher é vergonhoso falar na reunião da igreja.

36 Por acaso a palavra de Deus se originou no meio de vocês? Será que vocês são os únicos que a receberam?
37 Se alguém se considera profeta ou tem um dom espiritual, deve reconhecer que o que estou escrevendo para vocês é um mandamento do Senhor.

38 E se alguém não reconhecer isto, também não será reconhecido.
39 Por isso, meus irmãos, vocês devem se esforçar para ter o dom de profetizar, mas não proíbam que se fale em outras línguas.

40 Que tudo seja feito de uma maneira decente e ordenada.

Prophecy a Superior Gift

1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.2 For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.3 But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.4 One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church.5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying.

6 But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation or of knowledge or of prophecy or of teaching?7 Yet even lifeless things, either flute or harp, in producing a sound, if they do not produce a distinction in the tones, how will it be known what is played on the flute or on the harp?8 For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?9 So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air.10 There are, perhaps, a great many kinds of languages in the world, and no kind is without meaning.11 If then I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be to the one who speaks a barbarian, and the one who speaks will be a barbarian to me.12 So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church.

13 Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.15 What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also.16 Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted say the "Amen" at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you are saying?17 For you are giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not edified.18 I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all;19 however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.

Instruction for the Church

20 Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.21 In the Law it is written, "BY MEN OF STRANGE TONGUES AND BY THE LIPS OF STRANGERS I WILL SPEAK TO THIS PEOPLE, AND EVEN SO THEY WILL NOT LISTEN TO ME," says the Lord.22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe.23 Therefore if the whole church assembles together and all speak in tongues, and ungifted men or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad?24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all;25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you.

26 What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret;28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God.29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment.30 But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keep silent.31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted;32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets;33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.35 If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.36 Was it from you that the word of God first went forth? Or has it come to you only?

37 If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment.38 But if anyone does not recognize this, he tis not recognized.

39 Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.40 But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.
