La bonne nouvelle que Paul a reçue et transmise
1 tJe vous confirme, mes frères, la bonne nouvelle que je vous ai annoncée, celle que vous avez reçue, dans laquelle vous vous tenez
2 tet par laquelle aussi vous êtes sur la voie du salut, si vous la retenez dans les termes où je vous l’ai annoncée ; autrement, c’est pour rien que vous seriez venus à la foi.
3 tJe vous ai transmis, avant tout, ce que j’avais moi-même reçu : le Christ est mort pour nos péchés, selon les Ecritures. 4 tIl a été enseveli, il s’est réveillé le troisième jour, selon les Ecritures. 5 tIl est apparu à Céphas, puis aux Douze. 6 tEnsuite, il est apparu à plus de cinq cents frères à la fois : la plupart d’entre eux sont demeurés en vie, quelques-uns se sont endormis dans la mort. 7 tEnsuite, il est apparu à Jacques, puis à tous les apôtres.
8 tAprès eux tous, il m’est apparu, à moi aussi, comme à un avorton.
9 tMoi, en effet, je suis le moindre des apôtres ; c’est même trop d’honneur pour moi que d’être appelé apôtre, puisque j’ai persécuté l’Eglise de Dieu. 10 tMais par la grâce de Dieu je suis ce que je suis, et sa grâce envers moi n’a pas été inutile ; au contraire, j’ai travaillé plus qu’eux tous ; non pas moi toutefois, mais la grâce de Dieu qui est avec moi.
11 tAinsi donc, que ce soit moi, que ce soient eux, telle est notre proclamation et telle est la foi à laquelle vous êtes venus.La résurrection des morts
12 tOr si l’on proclame que le Christ s’est réveillé d’entre les morts, comment quelques-uns d’entre vous peuvent-ils dire qu’il n’y a pas de résurrection des morts ? 13 tS’il n’y a pas de résurrection des morts, le Christ non plus ne s’est pas réveillé. 14 tEt si le Christ ne s’est pas réveillé, alors notre proclamation est inutile, et votre foi aussi est inutile. 15 tNous apparaissons même comme de faux témoins de Dieu, puisque nous avons témoigné contre Dieu qu’il a réveillé le Christ, alors qu’il ne l’a pas réveillé, s’il est vrai que les morts ne se réveillent pas. 16 tEn effet, si les morts ne se réveillent pas, le Christ non plus ne s’est pas réveillé. 17 tEt si le Christ ne s’est pas réveillé, votre foi est futile, vous êtes encore dans vos péchés 18 tet ceux qui se sont endormis dans le Christ sont perdus.
19 tSi c’est pour cette vie seulement que nous avons mis notre espérance dans le Christ, nous sommes les plus pitoyables de tous.
20 tMais le Christ s’est bel et bien réveillé d’entre les morts : il est les prémices de ceux qui se sont endormis. 21 tCar, puisque la mort est venue par un homme, c’est aussi par un homme qu’est venue la résurrection des morts. 22 tEn effet, comme tous meurent en Adam, de même aussi tous seront rendus vivants dans le Christ, 23 tmais chacun en son rang : le Christ comme prémices, puis, à son avènement, ceux qui appartiennent au Christ. 24 tEnsuite viendra la fin, quand il remettra la royauté à celui qui est Dieu et Père, après avoir réduit à rien tout principat, toute autorité, toute puissance. 25 tCar il faut qu’il règne jusqu’à ce qu’il ait mis tousses ennemis sous sespieds. 26 tLe dernier ennemi qui sera réduit à rien, c’est la mort. 27 tEn effet,il a tout mis sous ses pieds. Mais lorsqu’il dit que tout lui a été soumis, il est évident que c’est à l’exception de celui qui lui a tout soumis.
28 tEt lorsque tout lui sera soumis, alors le Fils lui-même se soumettra à celui qui lui a tout soumis, pour que Dieu soit tout en tous.
29 tAutrement, que feront ceux qui reçoivent le baptême pour les morts ? S’il n’est pas question que les morts se réveillent, pourquoi recevraient-ils le baptême pour eux ?
30 tEt nous, pourquoi sommes-nous à toute heure en péril ? 31 tChaque jour je meurs, mes frères, aussi vrai que vous êtes ma fierté en Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur. 32 tSi c’est pour des vues humaines que j’ai combattu contre les bêtes à Ephèse, quel avantage m’en revient-il ? Si les morts ne se réveillent pas,mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons !
33 tNe vous égarez pas :
les mauvaises compagnies pourrissent les bonnes mœurs.
34 tRessaisissez-vous sérieusement et cessez de pécher ; quelques-uns, en effet, méconnaissent Dieu – je le dis à votre honte.Le corps ressuscité
35 tMais quelqu’un dira : Comment les morts se réveillent-ils ? Avec quel corps reviennent-ils ? 36 tHomme déraisonnable ! Ce que tu sèmes toi-même n’est pas rendu vivant sans mourir. 37 tEt ce que tu sèmes, ce n’est pas le corps à venir, c’est une simple graine, un grain de blé peut-être, ou une autre semence ;
38 tpuis Dieu lui donne un corps comme il le veut ; à chaque semence il donne un corps qui lui est propre.
39 tToute chair n’est pas la même chair ; mais autre est celle des humains, autre la chair des animaux, autre la chair des oiseaux, autre celle des poissons. 40 tIl y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres ; mais autre est la gloire des corps célestes, autre celle des corps terrestres.
41 Autre est la gloire du soleil, autre la gloire de la lune, et autre la gloire des étoiles ; même une étoile diffère en gloire d’une autre étoile.
42 tAinsi en est-il de la résurrection des morts. Semé périssable, on se réveille impérissable. 43 tSemé dans le déshonneur, on se réveille dans la gloire. Semé dans la faiblesse, on se réveille dans la puissance.
44 tSemé corps naturel, on se réveille corps spirituel.
S’il y a un corps naturel, il y a aussi un corps spirituel. 45 tC’est pourquoi il est écrit :Le premierhomme, Adam,devint un être vivant, naturel. Le dernier Adam, lui, est devenu un esprit qui fait vivre. 46 tCe n’est pas le spirituel qui est premier, c’est le naturel ; le spirituel vient ensuite. 47 tLe premier homme, tiré de la terre, est fait de poussière. Le deuxième homme vient du ciel. 48 tTel est celui qui est fait de poussière, tels sont aussi ceux qui sont faits de poussière ; et tel est le céleste, tels sont aussi les célestes.
49 tEt de même que nous avons porté l’image de celui qui est fait de poussière, nous porterons aussi l’image du céleste.
50 tCe que je dis, mes frères, c’est que la chair et le sang ne peuvent hériter le royaume de Dieu, et que le périssable n’hérite pas l’impérissable. 51 tJe vais vous dire un mystère : nous ne nous endormirons pas tous ; mais tous, nous serons changés, 52 ten un instant, en un clin d’œil, à la dernière trompette. Car elle sonnera, et les morts se réveilleront impérissables, et nous, nous serons changés. 53 tIl faut en effet que le périssable revête l’impérissable, et que le mortel revête l’immortalité.
54 tLorsque le périssable aura revêtu l’impérissable, et que le mortel aura revêtu l’immortalité, alors se sera accomplie la parole qui est écrite :
La mort a été engloutie dans la victoire.
55 t Mort, où est ta victoire ?
Mort, où est ton aiguillon ?
56 tL’aiguillon de la mort, c’est le péché ; et la puissance du péché, c’est la loi.
57 tMais grâce soit rendue à Dieu, qui nous donne la victoire par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ !
58 tAinsi, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, progressez toujours dans l’œuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail, dans le Seigneur, n’est pas inutile.
1 Corinthians 15
1 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,2 by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;4 and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures;5 and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve;6 then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep;7 then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles;8 and last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also.9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.11 Whether then it be I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.12 Now if Christ is preached that he hath been raised from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither hath Christ been raised:14 and if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain.15 Yea, we are found false witnesses of God; because we witnessed of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead are not raised.16 For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:17 and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.18 Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.19 If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.20 But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ’s, at his coming.24 Then cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.25 For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.27 For, He put all things in subjection under his feet. But when he saith, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that he is excepted who did subject all things unto him.28 And when all things have been subjected unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subjected to him that did subject all things unto him, that God may be all in all.29 Else what shall they do that are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?30 Why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?31 I protest by that glorifying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.32 If after the manner of men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.33 Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.34 Awake to soberness righteously, and sin not; for some have no knowledge of God: I speak this to move you to shame.35 But some one will say, How are the dead raised? and with what manner of body do they come?36 Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but a bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other kind;38 but God giveth it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fishes.40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory.42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:43 it is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:44 it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.45 So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.46 Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.54 But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.55 O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?56 The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:57 but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.
