1 CORINTIOS 4

El trabajo apostólico

1 Vosotros debéis considerarnos simplemente como ayudantes de Cristo, encargados de enseñar los secretos designios de Dios.t 2 Ahora bien, el que recibe un encargo debe demostrar que es digno de confianza. 3 En cuanto a mí respecta, muy poco me preocupa ser juzgado por vosotros o por algún tribunal humano. Ni siquiera yo mismo me juzgo. 4 Sin embargo, el que mi conciencia no me acuse de nada no significa que Dios me considere sin culpa. Y el que me juzga es el Señor.t

5 Por lo tanto, no juzguéis nada antes de tiempo; esperad a que el Señor venga y saque a la luz lo que ahora está en la oscuridad y dé a conocer las intenciones del corazón. Entonces Dios dará a cada uno la alabanza que haya merecido.

4. Orgullo de los corintios (4.6-21)

7 Pues, ¿quién te hace mejor que los demás? ¿Y qué tienes que Dios no te haya dado? Y si él te lo ha dado, ¿por qué presumes como si lo hubieras conseguido por ti mismo?t
8 Al parecer, ya sois ricos, tenéis todo lo que podéis desear y os sentís como reyes, sin necesitar nada de nosotros. ¡Ojalá fuerais reyes de verdad, para que nosotros tuviéramos parte en vuestro reino!t 9 Pues me parece que a nosotros, los apóstoles, Dios nos ha puesto en el último lugar, como a condenados a muerte. Hemos llegado a ser un espectáculot para el mundo, para los ángeles y para los hombres. 10 Nosotros, por causa de Cristo, pasamos por tontos, mientras que vosotros, gracias a Cristo, pasáis por inteligentes. Nosotros somos débiles y vosotros sois fuertes. A nosotros se nos desprecia y a vosotros se os respeta.t 11 Hasta hoy mismo no hemos dejado de sufrir hambre, sed y desnudez; la gente nos maltrata, no tenemos hogar propiot 12 y nos cansamos trabajando con nuestras propias manos.t A las maldiciones respondemos con bendiciones;t somos perseguidos y lo soportamos.

13 Se habla mal de nosotros y contestamos con bondad. Nos tratan como a basura del mundo, como a desperdicio de la humanidad. Y así hasta el día de hoy.
14 No os escribo esto para avergonzaros sino para daros un consejo, como a mis propios hijos, porque os amo; 15 pues aunque tengáis diez mil instructorest que os hablen de Cristo, padres no tenéis muchos. Padre vuestro en cuanto a la fe en Cristo Jesús lo soy yo, porque yo soy quien os ha anunciado el evangelio.

16 Así pues, os ruego que sigáis mi ejemplo.t
17 Por eso os envío a Timoteo,t mi querido y fiel hijo en el Señor. Él os hará recordar mi conducta como creyente en Cristo Jesús, conforme a lo que enseño en todas las iglesias por donde paso. 18 Ya algunos de vosotros se ufanan pensando que no iré a veros.t 19 Pues bien, si el Señor quiere, espero visitaros pronto. Entonces veré lo que son capaces de hacer esos presumidos y no solo lo que son capaces de decir; 20 porque el reino de Dios no es cuestión de palabras, sino de poder.t

21 ¿Qué preferís? ¿Que vaya dispuesto a castigarost o que vaya a veros con amor y con ternura?

1 Corinthians 4

The Apostles’ Ministry

1 Onet should think about us this way – as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.2 Now what is sought in stewards is that one be found faithful.3 So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.4 For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not acquitted because of this. The one who judges me is the Lord.

5 So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He willt bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognitiont from God.
6 I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters,t so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other.7 For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?8 Already you are satisfied! Already you are rich! You have become kings without us! I wish you had become kings so that we could reign with you!9 For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to die, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people.10 We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, we are dishonored!11 To the present hour we are hungry and thirsty, poorly clothed, brutally treated, and without a roof over our heads.12 We do hard work, toiling with our own hands. When we are verbally abused, we respond with a blessing, when persecuted, we endure,

13 when people lie about us, we answer in a friendly manner. We are the world’s dirt and scum, even now.

A Father’s Warning

14 I am not writing these things to shame you, but to correct you as my dear children.15 For though you may have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, because I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.16 I encourage you, then, be imitators of me.17 For this reason, I have sent Timothy to you, who is my dear and faithful son in the Lord. He will remind you of my ways in Christ,s as I teach them everywhere in every church.18 Some have become arrogant,t as if I were not coming to you.19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I will find out not only the talk of these arrogant people, but also their power.20 For the kingdom of God is demonstrated not in idle talk but with power.

21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod of disciplinets or with love and a spirit of gentleness?
