コリント人への第一の手紙 4

四

1 こういうわけで、アポロや私を、神の特別の計画を説明し、その祝福を配って回る、キリスト様の家来と考えてください。　2 ところで、家来にとって一番大切なことは、主人の命令に従うことです。　3 さて、私の場合はどうでしょう。　良い家来だったでしょうか。　この点に関して、あなたがたがどう考えようと、また、ほかの人がどう思おうと、私は少しも気にしません。　この件については、自分の判断さえ、信用していないのです。　4 良心にやましいところは、さらさらありませんが、だからといって、安心しきっているわけでもありません。　調べた上で判決をお下しになるのは、主ご自身だからです。
5 ですから、主がまだお帰りにならないうちから、ある人が良い家来かどうか、せっかちに結論を下すことがないように注意しなさい。　主が来られる時、すべては明るみに出されます。　一人一人の心の奥底までが見通され、ありのままの姿が、だれの目にもはっきり見えるようになります。　その時、私たちが、なぜ主の仕事をしてきたのか、だれにもわかるようになります。　そして、一人一人が、ふさわしい賞賛を神様から受けるのです。
6 これまで私は、アポロと自分を例にあげて説明してきました。ある人を特別にえこひいきしてはならないことを、教えたかったのです。　神様がお立てになった教師の一人を、他の教師以上に誇ってはなりません。　7 いったい何について、そんなに得意になるのですか。　あなたの持ちもので、神様からいただかないものがありますか。　その全部が神様からいただいたものなら、どうして、さも偉そうにふるまうのですか。　また、自力で何かを成し遂げたような態度をとるのですか。
8 あなたがたは、自分に必要な霊の食べ物はみな、すでに手にした、と思っているようです。　十分に満ち足り、霊的に満足しています。　私たちを差し置いて、裕福な王様になり、王座にふんぞり返っています。　ああ、ほんとうに王座についていたらよかったのに。　そうすれば、いつか私たちも、その王座で、あなたがたと共に君臨できたでしょうに。　9 しばしば、こんな思いが私に浮かびます。　神様は私たち使徒を、死刑を目前にした捕虜のように凱旋行列の最後に引き出し、人々や御使いの前で見せ物にされたのだ、と。
10 信仰のために私たちが愚か者になったと、あなたがたは言います。　そういうあなたがたは、もちろん、たいそう賢い、分別あるクリスチャンですとも。　私たちは弱くて、あなたがたは強いのです。　人受けのよいあなたがたと違って、私たちは笑いものにされています。　11 今の今まで、私たちは飢えと渇きに悩まされ、寒さをしのぐ着物さえありませんでした。　自分の家もなく、どこへ行っても、冷たくあしらわれるばかりでした。　12 また、生活のために、自ら汗水流して働きました。　私たちをのろう人たちを、かえって祝福し、危害を加えられても耐え忍び、　13 ののしられても、おだやかに答えるのが常でした。　それなのに、今この時に至るまで、私たちは、まるで足もとのちりや、ごみのようです。
14 このように書いたのは、あなたがたに恥をかかせるためではありません。　愛する子供として戒め、さとすためです。　15 たとい、キリスト様のことを教えてくれる人が一万人いたとしても、あなたがたの父はこの私だけであることを、忘れないでください。　良い知らせを伝えて、キリスト様に導いたのは、この私一人なのですから。　16 そこで、お願いがあります。　どうか、私の模範にならい、同じ行ないをしてください。
17 その点であなたがたの助けになればと思い、テモテを遣わします。　彼は、私がキリスト様に導いた一人で、主にあって愛し、信頼できる息子だからです。　彼は、クリスチャンとしての私の生き方を、私が行く先々の教会で教えているとおりに、あなたがたに思い出させてくれるでしょう。
18 中には、「パウロはこちらへ来て話をつけるのがこわいのだ」と、思い上がっている人たちがいるそうですね。　19 しかし、もし主のお許しがあれば、私はすぐにでも行くつもりです。　そうすれば、その高慢な人たちが、ただ大きなことを言っているだけか、それとも、ほんとうに神様の力を持っているのか、わかるでしょう。　20 神の国は、ことばだけのものではありません。　神の力によって生きることなのです。　21 さあ、どちらを選びますか。　私が罰と叱責をもって行くほうですか。　それとも、愛とやさしい心とをもって行くほうですか。

1 Corinthians 4

1 Let a man so account of us, as of ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.2 Here, moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.4 For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.5 Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.6 Now these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that in us ye might learn not to go beyond the things which are written; that no one of you be puffed up for the one against the other.7 For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?8 Already are ye filled, already ye are become rich, ye have come to reign without us: yea and I would that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.9 For, I think, God hath set forth us the apostles last of all, as men doomed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, both to angels and men.10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor.11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;12 and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;13 being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.14 I write not these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.15 For though ye have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begat you through the gospel.16 I beseech you therefore, be ye imitators of me.17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put you in remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every church.18 Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of them that are puffed up, but the power.20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?
