1 Coríntios 4

Apóstolos de Cristo

1 Isto é o que as pessoas devem pensar de nós: Nós somos servos de Cristo e administradores das verdades secretas de Deus.2 Além disso, exige-se dos administradores que eles sejam fiéis.3 Porém pouco me importa se eu sou julgado por vocês ou por qualquer tribunal humano. Eu não julgo nem a mim mesmo.4 Minha consciência está limpa. Contudo, nem por isso me considero inocente, pois o Senhor é quem me julga.

5 Portanto, não julguem antes do tempo; esperem que o Senhor venha. Ele revelará pela luz as coisas que agora estão escondidas na escuridão, e mostrará as intenções que estão nos corações das pessoas. Então cada um receberá de Deus a honra que merece.
6 Irmãos, por causa de vocês é que apliquei estas coisas a Apolo e a mim mesmo para que, por meio do nosso exemplo, vocês aprendam isto: "Sigam somente o que as Escriturast dizem". Assim, ninguém vai se orgulhar de uma pessoa e desprezar a outra.7 Quem diz que você é melhor do que os outros? Tudo o que você tem lhe foi dado. E se tudo lhe foi dado, por que você se gaba como se tivesse conseguido estas coisas pelo seu próprio esforço?8 Vocês pensam que já têm tudo o que precisam! Pensam que são ricos e que se tornaram reis sem nós! Tomara que vocês fossem reis de verdade para que nós pudéssemos ser reis com vocês!9 Mas me parece que Deus deu a mim e aos outros apóstolost o último lugar. Nós somos como os homens que estão condenados à morte, pois nos tornamos espetáculo para todo o mundo ver, tanto para os anjos como para os homens.10 Somos tolos por causa de Cristo, mas vocês são tão inteligentes em Cristo! Somos fracos, mas vocês são tão fortes! Somos desprezados, mas vocês são honrados!11 Até agora temos sofrido fome e sede, temos nos vestido com trapos, somos esbofeteados, não temos um lugar certo para morar e12 ficamos exaustos, trabalhando com nossas próprias mãos. Quando somos amaldiçoados, nós abençoamos. Quando somos perseguidos, agüentamos com paciência.

13 Quando somos difamados, falamos o bem. Até agora temos chegado a ser considerados lixo do mundo, resto de todas as coisas.
14 Eu não estou escrevendo estas coisas para envergonhá-los. Pelo contrário, escrevo para adverti-los, como se vocês fossem os meus filhos queridos.15 Porque ainda que vocês tivessem dez mil mestres em Cristo, não teriam muitos pais. Pois eu me tornei o pai de vocês em Cristo Jesus, por meio das Boas Novast.16 Por isso, eu suplico: Sigam o meu exemplo.

17 Por esta causa é que eu lhes enviei Timóteo, que é meu filho querido e fiel no Senhor. Ele vai lembrar a vocês dos meus caminhos em Cristo Jesus, exatamente como por toda parte eu os ensino em cada igreja.
18 Alguns de vocês estão se gabando, como se eu não tivesse mais que ir vê-los.19 Porém, se Deus quiser, voltarei a vê-los brevemente. Então eu vou saber o que essas pessoas que estão se gabando podem fazer, e não somente o que falam.20 Porque o reino de Deus não se baseia em palavras, mas em poder.

21 O que vocês preferem: que eu vá vê-los com vara para castigá-los, ou que vá com amor e carinho?

1 Corinthians 4

Servants of Christ

1 Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.2 In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.3 But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human court; in fact, I do not even examine myself.4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord.5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before tthe time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.

6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.7 For who regards you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

8 You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you.9 For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor.11 To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless;12 and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure;13 when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.

14 I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.15 For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.16 Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me.17 For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church.18 Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.19 But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power.20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.21 What do you desire? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a spirit of gentleness?
