I KORINTHIËRS 5

Die sedeloosheid van die Korinthiese gemeente. Bestraffinge en vermaninge.

1  ’n MENS hoor waarlik van thoerery onder julle, en hoerery van so ’n aard as wat selfs onder die heidene nie bekend is nie: tdat iemand die vrou van sy vader het.

2 En tog is julle opgeblase in plaas dat julle liewer getreur het, sodat hy wat hierdie daad gedoen het, kan verwyder word onder julle uit.

3 Want wat my betref, het ek, tliggaamlik afwesig maar in die gees teenwoordig, alreeds besluit asof ek teenwoordig was, om hom wat so iets gedoen het,

4 in die Naam van onse Here Jesus Christus, as julle vergader het en my gees saam tmet die krag van onse Here Jesus Christus —

5  tom so iemand aan die Satan oor te lewer tot verderf van die vlees, sodat die gees gered kan word tin die dag van die Here Jesus.

6  tJulle roem is nie mooi nie. Weet julle nie dat t’n bietjie suurdeeg die hele deeg suur maak nie?

7 Suiwer dan die ou suurdeeg uit, sodat julle ’n nuwe deeg kan wees — soos julle inderdaad ongesuurd is — want took ons paaslam is vir ons geslag, naamlik Christus.

8  tLaat ons dan feesvier, nie met die ou suurdeeg of met die suurdeeg van ondeug en boosheid nie, maar met die ongesuurde brode van reinheid en waarheid.

9 Ek het julle in my brief geskrywe om nie met hoereerders om te gaan nie —

10  dit wil sê, nie die hoereerders van hierdie wêreld of die gierigaards of rowers of afgodedienaars in die algemeen nie, want tdan sou julle uit die wêreld moet uitgaan —

11 maar nou skryf ek aan julle om nie om te gaan met tiemand wat, al staan hy as ’n broeder bekend, ’n hoereerder is of ’n gierigaard of ’n afgodedienaar of ’n kwaadspreker of ’n dronkaard of ’n rower nie; met so iemand moet julle selfs nie saam eet nie.

12 Want waarom sou ek ook tdie wat buite is, oordeel? Oordeel julle nie tdie wat binne is nie?
13 Maar die wat buite is, oordeel God. tVerwyder tog dié slegte mens onder julle uit.

1 Corinthians 5

1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father’s wife.2 You are puffed up, and didn’t rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you.3 For I most certainly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing.4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?7 Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place.8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.9 I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners;10 yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world.11 But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don’t even eat with such a person.12 For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don’t you judge those who are within?

13 But those who are outside, God judges. “Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.”t
