1 Ma okwu bayere ihe achuru n'àjà nye arusi: Ayi matara na ayi nile nwere ọmuma-ihe. Ọmuma-ihe nāfuli elu, ma ihu-n'anya nēwuli elu dika ulo. 2 Ọ buru na onye ọ bula nēchè na ya mara ihe ọ bula, ọ kāmaghi dika ọ nāghaghi ima; 3 ma ọ buru na onye ọ bula nāhu Chineke n'anya, onye ahu ka Chineke mara. 4 Ya mere okwu bayere iri ihe achuru n'àjà nye arusi, ayi matara na ọ dighi arusi ọ bula bu ihe n'uwa, ayi mata-kwa-ra na ọ dighi Chineke ọzọ ma-ọbughi otù. 5 N'ihi na asi na ọ bu kwa ezie na ndi anākpọ chi di, ma ọ bu n'elu-igwe ma-ọbu n'elu uwa; dika ọtutu chi na ọtutu ndi-nwe-madu di; 6 ma n'ebe ayi nọ otù Chineke di, bú Nna, Onye ihe nile sitere na Ya, Onye ayi onwe-ayi di-kwa-ra Ya; otù Onye-nwe-ayi di kwa, bú Jisus Kraist, Onye ihe nile sitere n'aka-Ya, ayi onwe-ayi site-kwa-ra n'aka-Ya. 7 Otú ọ di ọ bughi nime madu nile ka ọmuma-ihe ahu di: kama ufọdu, ebe arusi bu ihe anēme n'ala-ha rue ub͕u a, ha nēri ihe ahu dika ihe achuru n'àjà nye arusi; anēmeru kwa akọ-na-uche-ha, ebe ọ nādighi ike. 8 Ma ihe-oriri agaghi-eche ayi n'iru Chineke: ma asi na ayi erighi, ọ dighi ihe fọduru ayi inwe; ma asi kwa na ayi nēri, ayi ababigaghi ókè. 9 Ma lezienu anya ka ike-unu nka ghara isi n'uzọ ọ bula ghọ ihe gēme ka ndi nādighi ike su ngọngọ. 10 N'ihi na asi na onye ọ bula ahú gi, bú onye nwere ihe-ọmuma, ka i nānọdu na nri nime ulo arusi, akọ-na-uche-ya, ma ọ buru na ọ dighi ike, àgaghi-ewuli ya elu dika ulo iri ihe achuru n'àjà nye arusi? 11 N'ihi na site n'ihe-ọmuma-gi onye ahu nke nādighi ike nāla n'iyì, bú nwa-nna-gi nke Kraist nwuru n'ihi ya. 12 Ma otú a, mb͕e unu nēmehie megide umu-nna-unu, nētib͕u kwa akọ-na-uche-ha mb͕e ọ nādighi ike, unu nēmehie megide Kraist. 13 N'ihi nka, ma ọ buru na ihe-oriri eme ka nwa-nnam ma n'ọnyà, m'gaghi-eri anu ma-ọli rue mb͕e ebighi-ebi, ka m'ghara ime ka nwa-nnam ma n'ọnyà.
1 Corinthians 8
1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.2 If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know;3 but if any man loveth God, the same is known by him.4 Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no God but one.5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many;6 yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.7 Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.8 But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better.9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak.10 For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?11 For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died.12 And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ.13 Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.
