I VAKORINTO 8
Ta swakudya leswi humeseriwaka swikwembu swa hava
1 Hi mhaka ya swakudya leswi humeseriwaka swikwembu swa hava, hi tala ku vula leswaku hi ni vutivi hinkwerhu. Kambe vutivi byo tano byi nyika munhu ku tikurisa, kasi rirhandzu ra aka. 2 Loko munhu a ehleketa leswaku ú tiva xa nchumu, a nga si tiva nchumu hilaha a fanelaka ku tiva hakona.
3 Kambe loko munhu a rhandza Xikwembu, ú tiviwa hi xona.
4 Loko ku ri ku dya leswi humeseriweke swikwembu swa hava, hi tiva leswaku “xikwembu xa hava a hi xilo xa nchumu emisaveni”, ni leswaku “ku ni Xikwembu xi ri xin'we ntsena, ku hava xin'wana.” 5 Hambiloko swilo swo vuriwa “swikwembu”, swi ri kona etilweni kumbe emisaveni — tanihi leswi kunene swikwembu swi nga tala ni tihosi ti nga tala —
6 eka hina ku ni Xikwembu xin'we ntsena, Tatana loyi swilo hinkwaswo swi humaka eka yena, na hina hi hanyelaka yena; naswona ku ni Hosi yin'we ntsena, Yesu Kriste loyi hinkwaswo swi taka hi le ka yena, na hina hi hanyaka hikwalaho ka yena.
7 A hi hinkwavo lava nga ni vutivi lebyi; leswi vanhu van'wana va ha toloveleke swikwembu swa hava, va dya swakudya swa vona wonge hi loko swi ri leswi humeseriweke swikwembu leswi, kutani ripfalo ra vona ri nyamile hikwalaho ka ku tsana ka vona. 8 Swakudya a swi nga hi tshineti kusuhi ni Xikwembu; hambiloko hi nga dyi, a hi lahlekeriwi hi nchumu, hambiloko hi dya, a hi bindzuli nchumu. 9 Kambe tivoneleni leswaku ku ntshunxeka ka n'wina loku, ku nga hundzuki xikhunguvanyiso eka lava tsaneke. 10 Hikuva loko munhu la tsaneke a ku vona wena la nga ni vutivi, u ri karhi u dya swa swikwembu swa hava egandzelweni ra swona, xana munhu loyi a nga ka a nga tiyisiwi eripfalweni ra yena ku dya leswi humeseriweke swikwembu sweswo xana? 11 Kutani makwenu loyi a tsaneke, loyi Kriste a n'wi feleke, wa onhaka hi mhaka ya vutivi bya wena. 12 Loko mi dyohela vamakwenu hi ndlela leyi, ni ku onha mapfalo ya vona lama tsaneke, mi dyohela Kriste. 13 Hikokwalaho, loko swakudya swi khunguvanyisa makwerhu, ndzi nga ka ndzi nga ha dyi nyama ni siku ni rin'we, leswaku ndzi nga tshuki ndzi vangela makwerhu ku khunguvanyeka.
1 Corinthians 8
Take Care with Your Liberty
1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.2 If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know;3 but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that tthere is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one.5 For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords,6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.
7 However not all men have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.8 But food will not commend us to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.9 But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.10 For if someone sees you, who have knowledge, dining in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?11 For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died.12 And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.
