Los verdaderos hijos de Dios

1 Queridos hermanos, no les crean a todos los que dicen que tienen el Espíritu de Dios. Pónganlos a prueba, para ver si son lo que dicen ser. Porque el mundo está lleno de falsos profetas.
2 Ustedes pueden saber que una persona tiene el Espíritu de Dios, si reconoce que Jesucristo vino al mundo como verdadero hombre.

3 Pero si dice que esto no es cierto, es porque no tiene el Espíritu de Dios; al contrario, tiene el espíritu del Enemigo de Cristo. Ustedes ya sabían que este espíritu tenía que venir, y yo quiero decirles que ya ha llegado al mundo.
4 Hijos míos, ustedes son de Dios, y ya han vencido a esos falsos profetas, pues él permanece unido a ustedes y es más poderoso que su Enemigo.5 Ellos son unos pecadores, y los demás pecadores de este mundo les hacen caso, porque hablan de las mismas cosas.

6 Pero nosotros pertenecemos a Dios, y podemos saber quién tiene el Espíritu que dice la verdad y quién tiene el espíritu del engaño. El que es de Dios nos hace caso, pero el que no es de Dios nos ignora.

Debemos amarnos

7 Amados hijos míos, debemos amarnos unos a otros, porque el amor viene de Dios. Todo el que ama es hijo de Dios, y conoce a Dios.

8 El que no ama no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor.
9 Dios nos dio muestras de su amor al enviar al mundo a Jesús, su único Hijo, para que por medio de él todos nosotros tengamos vida eterna.

10 El verdadero amor no consiste en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó y envió a su Hijo, para que nosotros fuéramos perdonados por medio de su sacrificio.
11 Hijos míos, si Dios nos ha amado así, nosotros también debemos amarnos los unos a los otros.

12 Nadie ha visto nunca a Dios; pero, si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios vive en nosotros y también su amor estará en nosotros.
13 Sabemos que estamos íntimamente unidos a Dios porque él nos ha dado su Espíritu.14 Nosotros mismos lo hemos visto, y lo decimos sin miedo: el Padre envió a su Hijo para salvar a todo el mundo.

15 Si alguien reconoce que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios, queda íntimamente unido a Dios, como si fuera una sola persona con él.
16 Sabemos y creemos que Dios nos ama, porque Dios es amor. Cualquiera que ama a sus hermanos está íntimamente unido a Dios.17 Si en verdad amamos a los hermanos, y si vivimos como Jesucristo vivió en este mundo, no tendremos por qué tener miedo cuando Jesús venga para juzgar a todo el mundo.

18 La persona que ama no tiene miedo. Donde hay amor no hay temor. Al contrario, el verdadero amor quita el miedo. Si alguien tiene miedo de que Dios lo castigue, es porque no ha aprendido a amar.
19 Nosotros amamos a nuestros hermanos porque Dios nos amó primero.20 Si decimos que amamos a Dios, y al mismo tiempo nos odiamos unos a otros, somos unos mentirosos. Porque si no amamos al hermano, a quien podemos ver, mucho menos podemos amar a Dios, a quien no podemos ver.

21 Y Jesucristo nos dio este mandamiento: «¡Amen a Dios, y ámense unos a otros!»

1 John 4

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:3 and every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already.4 Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.5 They are of the world: therefore speak they as of the world, and the world heareth them.6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he who is not of God heareth us not. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.9 Herein was the love of God manifested in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him.10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.12 No man hath beheld God at any time: if we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us:13 hereby we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.14 And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.16 And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him.17 Herein is love made perfect with us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is, even so are we in this world.18 There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love.19 We love, because he first loved us.20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, cannot love God whom he hath not seen.21 And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.
