Tron på Guds Son

1 Var och en som tror att Jesus är Kristus, den kung som Gud lovade sända, han är Guds barn. Och den som älskar sin Far älskar också hans barn.2 Vi vet att vi älskar Guds barn om vi älskar Gud och lyder det som han har befallt oss.3 Att älska Gud är att lyda hans befallningar, och hans befallningar är inte svåra att lyda,4 för alla som är Guds barn besegrar världen. Det är genom vår tro vi kan segra över den här onda världen.

5 Ja, bara den som tror att Jesus är Guds Son kan segra över världen.
6 Jesus Kristus bevisades vara Guds Son, då han döptes i vatten och då han offrade sitt blod på korset.t Det var inte bara vattnet som intygade vem Jesus är, utan både vattnet och blodet. Också Guds Ande vittnar om vem Jesus är, och det Guds Ande säger är alltid sant.7 Vi har alltså tre vittnen:8 Guds Ande, vattnet och blodet. Och alla tre är överens.9 Vi tror ju på människor som vittnar i våra domstolar. Skulle vi då inte tro på Gud när han vittnar om sin egen Son?

10 Alla som tror på Guds Son håller fast vid det som Gud har intygat är sant. Den som inte tror på vad Gud vittnar om sin egen Son påstår att Gud ljuger.
11 Och detta är vad Gud har intygat: att han har gett oss evigt liv och att det livet finns i hans Son.

12 Den som lever i nära gemenskap med Guds Son äger livet, men den som inte lever i gemenskap med Sonen har inte livet.

Avslutning

13 Detta har jag skrivit till er som tror på Guds Son, för att ni ska veta att ni har evigt liv.14 Vi kan vara säkra på att Gud lyssnar på oss, när vi ber honom om något som stämmer överens med hans vilja.

15 Och om vi vet att han hör oss, vad det än gäller, då vet vi också att vi får det vi har bett honom om.
16 Om ni ser en annan troende synda på ett sätt som inte leder till evig död, så ska ni be för den personen. Gud ska då låta den troende behålla det eviga livet. Men det finns synd som leder till döden, och jag säger inte att ni ska be för dem som begår sådana synder.t

17 Varje orätt handling är synd, men alla synder leder inte till evig död.
18 Vi vet att de som har blivit Guds barn inte fortsätter att synda, för Guds Son skyddar dem, och den Onde kan inte röra dem.19 Vi vet att vi tillhör Gud, och att världen runt omkring oss är under den Ondes makt och inflytande.

20 Vi vet också att Guds Son har kommit för att hjälpa oss att lära känna den sanna Guden, han som är evigt liv. Och nu lever vi i gemenskap med den sanna Guden, eftersom vi lever i gemenskap med hans Son, Jesus Kristus.

21 Mina barn, håll er borta från alla falska gudar.

1 John 5

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christt has been fatheredt by God, and everyone who loves the fathers loves the child fathered by him.s2 By thist we know that we love the children of God: whenever we love God and obey his commandments.3 Fort this is the love of God:t that we keep his commandments.t And his commandments do not weigh us down,

4 becauset everyonet who has been fathered by Gods conquerst the world.s
Thist is the conquering powert that has conqueredt the world: our faith.

Testimony About the Son

5 Now who is the person who has conquered the world except the one who believes thatt Jesus is the Son of God?6 Jesus Christ is the one who came by water and blood – not by the water only, but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, becauset the Spirit is the truth.7 Fort there are three that testify,sss

8 the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three are in agreement.
9 If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, becauset thist is the testimony of God thatt he has testified concerning his Son.10 (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.)s11 And this is the testimony: Godt has given us eternal life,s and this life is in his Son.

12 The one who has the Sons has thist eternalt life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have thist eternalt life.

Assurance of Eternal Life

13 I have written these thingst to you who believet in the name of the Son of God so thatt you may know that you have eternal life.
14 And this is the confidence that we have before him: thatt whenevert we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.15 And if we knowt that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.16 Ift anyone sees his fellow Christiant committing a sin not resulting in death,t he should ask, and Godt will grantt life to the person who commits a sin not resulting in death.t There is a sin resulting in death.t I do not say that he should ask about that.

17 All unrighteousnesst is sin, but there is sin not resulting in death.t
18 We know that everyone fatheredt by God does not sin, but Godt protectst the one he has fathered, and the evil one cannot touch him.19 We know that we are from God,t and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us insight to knowt him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This ones is the true God and eternal life.

21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols.ss
