Hitünk legyőzi a világot

1 Aki valóban hiszi, hogy Jézus a Krisztus, az Istentől született. Aki az Atya-Istent szereti, az természetesen szereti az Isten gyermekeit is.

2 Hogyan lehetünk biztosak benne, hogy valóban isteni módon szeretjük az ő gyermekeit? Úgy, hogy valóban szeretjük Istent, és engedelmeskedünk parancsainak!

3 Mert Istent szeretni annyit jelent, mint engedelmeskedni neki. Ez pedig egyáltalán nem nehéz!

4 Hiszen aki Istentől származik, az legyőzi a világot. Ami pedig a világot legyőzte, az a hitünk.

5 Mert ugyan ki más győzhetné le a világot, mint az, aki hiszi, hogy Jézus az Isten Fia?

Az örök élet a Fiúban van

6 Ő az a Jézus Krisztus, aki vízzelt és vérrelt jött. Tehát nemcsak vízzel, hanem vízzel és vérrel. A Szent Szellem bizonyítja, hogy ez igaz, mert a Szent Szellem az igazság.

7 Ez a három, aki bizonyítja az igazságot:

8 a Szent Szellem, a víz és a vér. Ez a három ugyanazt mondja.

9 Amikor az emberek mondanak valamit, elfogadjuk, hogy igaz, és elhisszük, amit mondanak. Akkor mennyivel megbízhatóbb, amit Isten maga mond! Hiszen ő az igazságot mondja a saját Fiáról.

10 Aki hisz az Isten Fiában, abban ott él ez az igazság. De aki nem hiszi el, amit Isten mondott, az hazugnak tekinti őt. Miért? Mert nem hitte el Istennek, amit a Fiáról mondott.

11 Ez pedig a következő: Isten örök életet adott nekünk — és ez az élet Isten Fiában van.

12 Ebből következik, hogy akiben él a Fiú, annak örök élete van. De akiben nem él az Isten Fia, annak nincs örök élete.

Imádkozz a testvéredért

13 Ezeket nektek írom, akik már hisztek Isten Fiának nevében. Azért írom, hogy egészen biztosak legyetek benne: nektek már most örök életetek van!

14 Ezért teljes bizalommal fordulhatunk Istenhez: ha az ő akarata szerint kérünk valamit, biztos, hogy meghallgat bennünket!

15 Ha pedig biztosak vagyunk benne, hogy meghallgat, bármit is kérünk tőle, akkor azt is tudjuk, hogy amit kértünk, azt meg is adta.

16 Ha valaki látja, hogy a testvére vétkezett, de nem halálos bűnt követett el, imádkozzon érte! Kérése szerint Isten életet fog adni annak, aki vétkezett. Van halálos bűn is, arra nem vonatkozik, hogy imádkozzatok azért, aki ilyet elkövet.

17 Minden, ami rossz, az bűn, de nem mindegyik bűn vezet a halálba.

18 Tudjuk, hogy akik Istentől születtek, nem maradnak benne a bűnben. Isten Fia megőrzi az Isten gyermekeit teljes biztonságban,t hogy a gonosz ne árthasson nekik.

19 Tudjuk, hogy mi Istenhez tartozunk, de a világ a gonosz hatalmában van.

20 Azt is tudjuk, hogy Isten Fia eljött a Földre, és ő tett bennünket képessé arra, hogy az igaz Istent megismerjük. Most pedig az igaz Istenben élünk, fia, Jézus Krisztus által. Igen, ő az igaz Isten és az örök élet.

21 Gyermekeim, maradjatok távol a bálványoktól és a hamis istenektől!

Overcoming the World

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the tChrist is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.

5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.7 For there are three that testify:8 tthe Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son.10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

This Is Written That You May Know

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
