A nossa vitória sobre o mundo

1 Todo aquele que crê que Jesus é o Cristot, é filho de Deus. E todo aquele que ama ao Pai, também ama os filhos dele.2 A maneira pela qual sabemos se amamos os filhos de Deus é esta: Se amarmos a Deus e obedecermos aos seus mandamentos.3 Pois amar a Deus é obedecer aos seus mandamentos. E os seus mandamentos não nos são penosos,4 porque todo aquele que é filho de Deus vence o mundo. E é isto que nos dá a vitória sobre o mundo: a nossa fé.

5 Quem vence o mundo senão aquele que crê que Jesus é o Filho de Deus?

O testemunho sobre Jesus Cristo

6 Jesus Cristo é aquele que veio por meio de águat e sanguet. Ele não veio somente com água, mas com a água e o sangue. E o Espíritot é o que dá testemunho, porque o Espírito é a verdade.7 Há, pois, três que dão testemunho:8 o Espírito, a água e o sangue. E estes três estão em harmonia.9 Se nós aceitamos o testemunho dos homens, devemos reconhecer que o testemunho de Deus tem mais valor, pois consiste no testemunho que Deus deu a respeito do seu próprio Filho.10 Aquele que crê no Filho de Deus, tem dentro de si mesmo este testemunho. Aquele que não acredita no que Deus disse, o faz mentiroso, porque não acredita no testemunho que Deus deu a respeito do seu Filho.11 E o testemunho é este: Que Deus nos deu a vida eterna e esta vida é encontrada no seu Filho.

12 Aquele que tem o Filho, tem a vida. Aquele que não tem o Filho de Deus, não tem a vida.

Nós temos a vida eterna

13 Eu estou escrevendo estas coisas a vocês que crêem no Filho de Deus para que saibam que têm a vida eterna.14 Nós temos muita confiança em Deus, pois sabemos que, se lhe pedirmos alguma coisa e se o nosso pedido estiver de acordo com a sua vontade, Ele nos atenderá.

15 E, se sabemos que Ele atende a todos os nossos pedidos, temos a certeza de haver conseguido todas as coisas que lhe pedimos.
16 Se alguém vir a seu irmão cometer pecado que não leva à morte, deve orar e Deus lhe dará vida. Refiro-me aos que cometem pecado que não leva à morte. Há pecado que leva à morte e por esse não digo que se deva orar.

17 Toda maldade é pecado; mas nem todo pecado leva à morte.
18 Sabemos que todo aquele que se torna filho de Deus não vive em pecado. Porém, o Filho de Deus o guarda e o Malignot não consegue atingi-lo.19 Sabemos que pertencemos a Deus, embora o mundo inteiro esteja debaixo do poder do Maligno.20 Também sabemos que o Filho de Deus já veio e nos tem dado entendimento para que possamos reconhecer ao verdadeiro Deus. E nós estamos naquele que é verdadeiro, uma vez que estamos em seu Filho Jesus Cristo. Este é o verdadeiro Deus e a vida eterna.

21 Filhinhos, afastem-se dos ídolos.

Overcoming the World

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the tChrist is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.

5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.7 For there are three that testify:8 tthe Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son.10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

This Is Written That You May Know

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
