1 Giovanni 5

1 Chiunque crede che Gesù è il Cristo, è nato da Dio; e chiunque ama Colui che ha generato, ama anche chi è stato da lui generato.2 Da questo conosciamo che amiamo i figliuoli di Dio: quando amiamo Dio e osserviamo i suoi comandamenti.3 Perché questo è l’amor di Dio: che osserviamo i suoi comandamenti; e i suoi comandamenti non sono gravosi.4 Poiché tutto quello che è nato da Dio vince il mondo; e questa è la vittoria che ha vinto il mondo: la nostra fede.5 Chi è colui che vince il mondo, se non colui che crede che Gesù è il Figliuol di Dio?6 Questi è colui che è venuto con acqua e con sangue, cioè, Gesù Cristo; non con l’acqua soltanto, ma con l’acqua e col sangue. Ed è lo Spirito che ne rende testimonianza, perché lo Spirito è la verità.7 Poiché tre son quelli che rendon testimonianza:8 lo Spirito, l’acqua ed il sangue, e i tre sono concordi.9 Se accettiamo la testimonianza degli uomini, maggiore è la testimonianza di Dio; e la testimonianza di Dio è quella ch’Egli ha resa circa il suo Figliuolo.10 Chi crede nel Figliuol di Dio ha quella testimonianza in sé; chi non crede a Dio l’ha fatto bugiardo, perché non ha creduto alla testimonianza che Dio ha reso circa il proprio Figliuolo.11 E la testimonianza è questa: Iddio ci ha data la vita eterna, e questa vita è nel suo Figliuolo.12 Chi ha il Figliuolo ha la vita; chi non ha il Figliuolo di Dio, non ha la vita.13 Io v’ho scritto queste cose affinché sappiate che avete la vita eterna, voi che credete nel nome del Figliuol di Dio.14 E questa è la confidanza che abbiamo in lui: che se domandiamo qualcosa secondo la sua volontà, Egli ci esaudisce;15 e se sappiamo ch’Egli ci esaudisce in quel che gli chiediamo, noi sappiamo di aver le cose che gli abbiamo domandate.16 Se uno vede il suo fratello commettere un peccato che non meni a morte, pregherà, e Dio gli darà la vita: a quelli, cioè, che commettono peccato che non meni a morte. V’è un peccato che mena a morte; non è per quello che dico di pregare.17 Ogni iniquità è peccato; e v’è un peccato che non mena a morte.18 Noi sappiamo che chiunque è nato da Dio non pecca; ma colui che nacque da Dio lo preserva, e il maligno non lo tocca.19 Noi sappiamo che siam da Dio, e che tutto il mondo giace nel maligno;20 ma sappiamo che il Figliuol di Dio è venuto e ci ha dato intendimento per conoscere Colui che è il vero; e noi siamo in Colui che è il vero Dio, nel suo Figliuolo Gesù Cristo. Quello è il vero Dio e la vita eterna.21 Figliuoletti, guardatevi dagl’idoli.

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christt has been fatheredt by God, and everyone who loves the fathers loves the child fathered by him.s2 By thist we know that we love the children of God: whenever we love God and obey his commandments.3 Fort this is the love of God:t that we keep his commandments.t And his commandments do not weigh us down,

4 becauset everyonet who has been fathered by Gods conquerst the world.s
Thist is the conquering powert that has conqueredt the world: our faith.

Testimony About the Son

5 Now who is the person who has conquered the world except the one who believes thatt Jesus is the Son of God?6 Jesus Christ is the one who came by water and blood – not by the water only, but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, becauset the Spirit is the truth.7 Fort there are three that testify,sss

8 the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three are in agreement.
9 If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, becauset thist is the testimony of God thatt he has testified concerning his Son.10 (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.)s11 And this is the testimony: Godt has given us eternal life,s and this life is in his Son.

12 The one who has the Sons has thist eternalt life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have thist eternalt life.

Assurance of Eternal Life

13 I have written these thingst to you who believet in the name of the Son of God so thatt you may know that you have eternal life.
14 And this is the confidence that we have before him: thatt whenevert we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.15 And if we knowt that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.16 Ift anyone sees his fellow Christiant committing a sin not resulting in death,t he should ask, and Godt will grantt life to the person who commits a sin not resulting in death.t There is a sin resulting in death.t I do not say that he should ask about that.

17 All unrighteousnesst is sin, but there is sin not resulting in death.t
18 We know that everyone fatheredt by God does not sin, but Godt protectst the one he has fathered, and the evil one cannot touch him.19 We know that we are from God,t and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us insight to knowt him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This ones is the true God and eternal life.
