베드로전서 1

인사

1  예수 그리스도의 사도인 베드로가, 본도와 갈라디아와 갑바도기아와 아시아와 비두니아에 흩어져서 사는 나그네들인, 택하심을 입은 이들에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 2 하나님 아버지께서 여러분을 미리 아시고 성령으로 거룩하게 해 주셔서, 여러분은 순종하게 되고, 예수 그리스도의 피 뿌림을 받게 되었습니다. 여러분에게 은혜와 평화가 더욱 가득 차기를 빕니다.

산 소망

3 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님 아버지께 찬양을 드립시다. 하나님께서는 그 크신 자비로 우리를 새로 태어나게 하셨습니다. 그리하여 그는, 죽은 사람들 가운데서 예수 그리스도가 부활하심으로 말미암아 우리로 하여금 산 t소망을 갖게 해 주셨으며, 4 썩지 않고 더러워지지 않고 낡아 없어지지 않는 유산을 물려받게 하셨습니다. 이 유산은 여러분을 위하여 하늘에 간직되어 있습니다. 5 하나님께서는 여러분의 믿음을 보시고 그의 능력으로 여러분을 보호해 주시며, 마지막 때에 나타나기로 되어 있는 구원을 얻게 해 주십니다. 6 그러므로 여러분이 지금 잠시동안 여러 가지 시련 속에서 어쩔 수 없이 슬픔을 당하게 되었다 하더라도 기뻐하십시오. 7 하나님께서는 여러분의 믿음을 단련하셔서, 불로 단련하지만 결국 없어지고 마는 금보다 더 귀한 것이 되게 하시며, 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 여러분에게 칭찬과 영광과 존귀를 얻게 해 주십니다. 8 여러분은 그리스도를 본 일이 없으면서도 사랑하며, 지금 그를 보지 못하면서도 믿으며, 말로 다 표현할 수 없는 즐거움과 영광을 누리면서 기뻐하고 있습니다. 9 여러분은 믿음의 목표 곧 여러분의 영혼의 구원을 받고 있는 것입니다. 10 예언자들은 이 구원을 자세히 살피고 연구하였습니다. 그들은 여러분이 받을 은혜를 예언하였습니다. 11 누구에게 또는 어느 때에 이런 일이 일어날 것인지를 그들이 연구할 때에, 그들 안에 계신 그리스도의 영이 그리스도에게 닥칠 고난과 그 뒤에 올 영광을 미리 증언하여 드러내 주셨습니다. 12 예언자들은 자기들이 섬긴 그 일들이, 자기들을 위한 것이 아니라 여러분을 위한 것임을 계시로 알게 되었습니다. 그 일들은 하늘로부터 보내주신 성령을 힘입어서 여러분에게 복음을 전한 사람들이 이제 여러분에게 선포한 것입니다. 그 일들은 천사들도 보고 싶어하는 것입니다.

불러주심에 따르는 거룩한 생활

13 그러므로 여러분은 마음을 단단히 먹고 정신을 차려서, 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 여러분이 받을 은혜를 끝까지 바라고 있으십시오. 14 순종하는 자녀로서 여러분은 전에 모르고 좇았던 욕망을 따라 살지 말고, 15 여러분을 불러주신 그 거룩하신 분을 따라 모든 행실을 거룩하게 하십시오. 16 성경에 기록하기를 t“내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩하여라” 하였습니다. 17 그리고 사람을 겉모양으로 판단하지 않으시고 각 사람의 행위대로 심판하시는 분을 여러분이 아버지라고 부르고 있으니, 여러분은 나그네 삶을 사는 동안 두려운 마음으로 살아가십시오. 18 여러분은 조상으로부터 물려받은 여러분의 헛된 생활방식에서 해방되었습니다. 여러분도 아시지만, 그것은 은이나 금과 같은 썩어질 것으로 된 것이 아니라, 19 흠이 없고 티가 없는 어린 양의 피와 같은 그리스도의 귀한 피로 되었습니다. 20 하나님께서는 이 그리스도를 세상이 창조되기 전에 미리 아셨고, 이 마지막 때에 여러분을 위하여 나타내셨습니다. 21 여러분은 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님을 믿고 있습니다. 하나님은 그리스도를 죽은 사람 가운데서 살리시고 그에게 영광을 주셨습니다. 그래서 여러분의 믿음과 소망은 하나님을 향해 있습니다. 22 여러분은 진리에 순종함으로 t영혼을 정결하게 하여서 꾸밈없이 서로 사랑하기에 이르렀으니, [순결한] 마음으로 서로 t뜨겁게 사랑하십시오. 23 여러분은 다시 태어났습니다. 그것은 썩을 씨로 그렇게 된 것이 아니라, 썩지 않을 씨 곧 t살아 계시고 영원하신 하나님의 말씀으로 그렇게 되었습니다. 24  t“모든 육체는 풀과 같고, 그 모든 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같다. 풀은 마르고 꽃은 떨어지되,

25 주님의 말씀은 영원히 있다.” 이것이 여러분에게 복음으로 전해진 말씀입니다.

1 PETER 1

1 From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ.
To God's people who are scattered like foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

2 God the Father decided to choose you as his people, and his Spirit has made you holy. You have obeyed Jesus Christ and are sprinkled with his blood.t
I pray that God will be kind to you and will keep on giving you peace!

A Real Reason for Hope

3 Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on.

4 t God has something stored up for you in heaven, where it will never decay or be ruined or disappear.
5 You have faith in God, whose power will protect you until the last day.t Then he will save you, just as he has always planned to do. 6 On that day you will be glad, even if you have to go through many hard trials for a while.

7 t Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show that you will be given praise and honor and glory when Jesus Christ returns.
8 You have never seen Jesus, and you don't see him now. But still you love him and have faith in him, and no words can tell how glad and happy

9 you are to be saved. This is why you have faith.
10 Some prophets told how God would treat you with undeserved grace, and they searched hard to find out more about the way you would be saved. 11 The Spirit of Christ was in them and was telling them how Christ would suffer and would then be given great honor. So they searched to find out exactly who Christ would be and when this would happen.

12 But they were told that they were serving you and not themselves. They preached to you by the power of the Holy Spirit, who was sent from heaven. And their message was only for you, even though angels would like to know more about it.

Chosen To Live //a Holy Life

13 Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how God will treat you with undeserved grace when Jesus Christ appears. 14 Behave like obedient children. Don't let your lives be controlled by your desires, as they used to be. 15 Always live as God's holy people should, because God is the one who chose you, and he is holy.

16 t That's why the Scriptures say, “I am the holy God, and you must be holy too.”
17 You say that God is your Father, but God doesn't have favorites! He judges all people by what they do. So you must honor God while you live as strangers here on earth. 18 You were rescuedt from the useless way of life you learned from your ancestors. But you know you were not rescued by such things as silver or gold that don't last forever. 19 t You were rescued by the precious blood of Christ, that spotless and innocent lamb. 20 Christ was chosen even before the world was created, but because of you, he did not come until these last days.

21 And when he did come, it was to lead you to have faith in God, who raised him from death and honored him in a glorious way. This is why you have put your faith and hope in God.
22 You obeyed the truth, t and your souls were made pure. Now you sincerely love each other. But you must keep on loving with all your heart. 23 Do this because God has given you new birth by his message that lives on forever.

24 t The Scriptures say,
“Humans wither like grass,
and their glory fades
like wild flowers.
Grass dries up,
and flowers fall
to the ground.

25 But what the Lord has said
will stand forever.”
Our good news to you is what the Lord has said.
