ペテロの第一の手紙 2

二

1 ですから、憎むこと、善人ぶること、不正直、ねたみ、陰口をきくことなどはやめなさい。　2-3 すでに、主の恵みといつくしみを経験したのですから、泣いてミルクを欲しがる赤ん坊のように、熱心に救いの完成を祈り求めなさい。　4 キリスト様に近づきなさい。　キリスト様は生ける土台石となり、神様はその上に、神の家をお建てになるのです。　キリスト様を、人々は拒絶しましたが、神様は最も重要な存在として選ばれたのです。
5 そして今、あなたがたは、神の家を建て上げるための生ける石となったのです。　そればかりか、神様のきよい祭司となりました。　イエス・キリストによって、神様に受け入れられたあなたがたは、喜ばれる供え物を神様にささげなさい。　6 旧約聖書にこう書いてあります。　「見よ。　わたしはキリストを、教会の尊い土台石とするために、特に選んで遣わした。　彼に信頼する者は、決して失望しない。」
7 そうです。　キリスト様は、信じる者にとって、何よりも尊いお方です。　しかし、キリスト様を拒絶する者にとっては、どうでしょう。　聖書に、「建築士たちの投げ捨てた石が、家を建てる時になくてはならない土台石となった」と書いてあるとおりです。　8 また、聖書には、キリスト様は彼らにとって、「つまずきの石、妨げの岩」となられた、ともあります。　彼らのつまずきの原因は、神様のことばに耳を傾けず、従おうとしないことです。　それで彼らは、罰を受けて倒れるほかなかったのです。
9 しかし、あなたがたは、そうではありません。　あなたがたは、神様から選ばれた王なる祭司であり、きよい民として、神様のものとされた人たちです。　それはすべて、どうして自分が、暗やみから神様のまばゆいばかりの光へと招き入れられたかを、人々に語り伝えるためなのです。　10 あなたがたは、以前は全くなきに等しい者でしたが、今は神様のものとされています。　以前は神様のいつくしみからは縁遠い者でしたが、今はそのいつくしみによって、生活そのものを変えられています。
11 愛する皆さん。　この地上では、あなたがたは単なる旅人にすぎません。　ほんとうの故郷は天にあるのですから、この世の快楽から遠ざかりなさい。　そんな快楽は、身のためにならず、かえって、あなたがたのたましいに戦いをいどむのです。
12 救われていない人の前では、日常のふるまいに、くれぐれも注意しなさい。　そうすれば、今はあなたがたを疑いの目で見たり、悪口を言ったりしている彼らも、やがて、キリスト様が来られる時には、あなたがたのりっぱな行ないを認めて、神様をほめたたえるでしょう。　13-14 主のために、国家の定めたすべての法律に従いなさい。　主権者である王が定めた法律にはもちろん、王の役人が定めた法律にも、従うべきです。　なぜなら、王に任命された役人の使命は、悪い者を罰し、正しい者に栄誉を与えることだからです。
15 神様が望まれることは、あなたがたの行ないが、良い知らせのすばらしい影響力に目をつぶってあざ笑う者どもに、うむを言わせないほど、りっぱなものとなることです。　16 あなたがたは、法律からも解放された自由人です。　しかし、だからといって、好き勝手なまねをしていいわけではありません。　ただ神様に従うという一点で、自由人であるべきなのです。
17 だれをも尊敬しなさい。　クリスチャンはお互いに深く愛し合いなさい。　神様を恐れ、国家を尊びなさい。
18 召使は主人を尊敬し、どんな言いつけにも従いなさい。　親切で物わかりのいい主人だけにでなく、残忍で乱暴な主人にも、従いなさい。　19 正しい者だというのに罰を受けるとしたら、その時は主をほめたたえなさい。　20 悪いことをしてなぐられる場合は、たといどんなに我慢してみせても、りっぱだとは言えません。　しかし、正しいことをしたばかりに、かえって苦しみを受け、それをじっと耐える場合には、神様に喜んでいただけます。
21 この苦しみは、神様が与えてくださった務めでもあるのです。　あなたがたのために苦しまれたキリスト様が、模範です。　この方について行きなさい。　22 キリスト様は一度も、罪を犯したり、うそをついたりなさいませんでした。　23 侮辱されても口答えせず、苦しめられても仕返しをせず、公平にさばかれる神様に、自分をお任せになりました。　24 キリスト様は、自分の体に私たちの罪を負い、十字架上で死んでくださいました。　そのおかげで、私たちは、罪ときっぱり手を切り、正しい生活を始めることができたのです。　キリスト様が傷つくことによって、私たちの傷が治ったのです。　25 あなたがたは神様から離れて、迷子の羊のように、さまよっていました。　しかし今は、どんな敵の攻撃からも、たましいを安全に守ってくださる羊飼いのもとに帰ったのです。

1 Peter 2

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,2 as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;3 if ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious:4 unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,5 ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.6 Because it is contained in scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.

7 For you therefore that believe is the preciousness: but for such as disbelieve, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

8 and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence; for they stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.9 But ye are a elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:10 who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.11 Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul;12 having your behavior seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.13 Be subject to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme;14 or unto governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to them that do well.15 For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:16 as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.19 For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endureth griefs, suffering wrongfully.20 For what glory is it, if, when ye sin, and are buffeted for it, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.21 For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:23 who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:24 who his own self bare our sins in his body upon the tree, that we, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.25 For ye were going astray like sheep; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
