۱-پطرس 2
زِندہ پتّھر اور مُقدّس قَوم
1 پس ہر طرح کی بدخواہی اور سارے فرِیب اور رِیاکاری اور حسد اور ہر طرح کی بدگوئی کو دُور کر کے۔ 2 نَوزاد بچّوں کی مانِند خالِص رُوحانی دُودھ کے مُشتاق رہو تاکہ اُس کے ذرِیعہ سے نجات حاصِل کرنے کے لِئے بڑھتے جاؤ۔
3 اگر تُم نے خُداوند کے مِہربان ہونے کا مزہ چکّھا ہے۔
4 اُس کے یعنی آدمِیوں کے ردّ کِئے ہُوئے پر خُدا کے چُنے ہُوئے اور قِیمتی زِندہ پتّھر کے پاس آکر۔ 5 تُم بھی زِندہ پتّھروں کی طرح رُوحانی گھر بنتے جاتے ہو تاکہ کاہِنوں کا مُقدّس فِرقہ بن کر اَیسی رُوحانی قُربانِیاں چڑھاؤ جو یِسُو ع مسِیح کے وسِیلہ سے خُدا کے نزدِیک مقبُول ہوتی ہیں۔
6 چُنانچہ کِتابِ مُقدّس میں آیا ہے کہ
دیکھو۔ مَیں صِیُّون میں کونے کے سرے کا چُنا ہُؤا
اور قِیمتی پتّھر رکھتا ہُوں
جو اُس پر اِیمان لائے گا ہرگِز شرمِندہ نہ ہو گا۔
7 پس تُم اِیمان لانے والوں کے لِئے تو وہ قِیمتی ہے مگر اِیمان نہ لانے والوں کے لِئے
جِس پتّھر کو مِعماروں نے ردّکِیا
وُہی کونے کے سِرے کا پتّھر ہو گیا۔
8 اورٹھیس لگنے کا پتّھر
اور ٹھوکر کھانے کی چٹان ہُؤا کیونکہ وہ نافرمان ہو کر کلام سے ٹھوکر کھاتے ہیں اور اِسی کے لِئے مُقرّر بھی ہُوئے تھے۔
9 لیکن تُم ایک برگُزِیدہ نسل ۔ شاہی کاہِنوں کا فِرقہ ۔ مُقدّس قَوم اور اَیسی اُمّت ہو جو خُدا کی خاص مِلکِیّت ہے تاکہ اُس کی خُوبِیاں ظاہِر کرو جِس نے تُمہیں تارِیکی سے اپنی عجِیب رَوشنی میں بُلایا ہے۔
10 پہلے تُم کوئی اُمّت نہ تھے مگر اب خُدا کی اُمّت ہو ۔ تُم پر رحمت نہ ہُوئی تھی مگر اب تُم پر رحمت ہُوئی۔خُدا کے غُلام
11 اَے پِیارو مَیں تُمہاری مِنّت کرتا ہُوں کہ تُم اپنے آپ کو پردیسی اور مُسافِر جان کر اُن جِسمانی خواہِشوں سے پرہیز کرو جو رُوح سے لڑائی رکھتی ہیں۔
12 اور غَیر قَوموں میں اپنا چال چلن نیک رکھّو تاکہ جِن باتوں میں وہ تُمہیں بدکار جان کر تُمہاری بدگوئی کرتے ہیں تُمہارے نیک کاموں کو دیکھ کر اُنہی کے سبب سے مُلاحظہ کے دِن خُدا کی تمجِید کریں۔
13 خُداوند کی خاطِر اِنسان کے ہر ایک اِنتِظام کے تابِع رہو ۔ بادشاہ کے اِس لِئے کہ وہ سب سے بزُرگ ہے۔ 14 اور حاکِموں کے اِس لِئے کہ وہ بدکاروں کی سزا اور نیکوکاروں کی تعرِیف کے لِئے اُس کے بھیجے ہُوئے ہیں۔ 15 کیونکہ خُدا کی یہ مرضی ہے کہ تُم نیکی کر کے نادان آدمِیوں کی جہالت کی باتوں کو بند کر دو۔ 16 اور اپنے آپ کو آزاد جانو مگر اِس آزادی کو بدی کا پردہ نہ بناؤ بلکہ اپنے آپ کو خُدا کے بندے جانو۔
17 سب کی عِزّت کرو ۔ برادری سے مُحبّت رکھّو ۔ خُدا سے ڈرو ۔ بادشاہ کی عِزّت کرو۔مسِیح کے دُکھوں کا نمُونہ
18 اَے نَوکرو! بڑے خَوف سے اپنے مالِکوں کے تابِع رہو ۔ نہ صِرف نیکوں اور حلِیموں ہی کے بلکہ بدمزاجوں کے بھی۔ 19 کیونکہ اگر کوئی خُدا کے خیال سے بے اِنصافی کے باعِث دُکھ اُٹھا کر تکلِیفوں کی برداشت کرے تو یہ پسندِیدہ ہے۔ 20 اِس لِئے کہ اگر تُم نے گُناہ کر کے مُکّے کھائے اور صبر کِیا تو کون سا فخر ہے؟ ہاں اگر نیکی کر کے دُکھ پاتے اور صبر کرتے ہو تو یہ خُدا کے نزدِیک پسندِیدہ ہے۔ 21 اور تُم اِسی کے لِئے بُلائے گئے ہو کیونکہ مسِیح بھی تُمہارے واسطے دُکھ اُٹھا کر تُمہیں ایک نمُونہ دے گیا ہے تاکہ اُس کے نقشِ قدم پر چلو۔ 22 نہ اُس نے گُناہ کِیا اور نہ اُس کے مُنہ سے کوئی مکر کی بات نِکلی۔ 23 نہ وہ گالِیاں کھا کر گالی دیتا تھا اور نہ دُکھ پا کر کِسی کو دھمکاتا تھا بلکہ اپنے آپ کو سچّے اِنصاف کرنے والے کے سپُرد کرتا تھا۔ 24 وہ آپ ہمارے گُناہوں کو اپنے بدن پر لِئے ہُوئے صلِیب پر چڑھ گیا تاکہ ہم گُناہوں کے اِعتبار سے مَر کر راست بازی کے اِعتبار سے جِئیں اور اُسی کے مار کھانے سے تُم نے شِفا پائی۔ 25 کیونکہ پہلے تُم بھیڑوں کی طرح بھٹکتے پِھرتے تھے مگر اب اپنی رُوحوں کے گلّہ بان اور نِگہبان کے پاس پِھر آ گئے ہو۔

A Living Stone and //a Holy Nation
1 Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people, and start being sincere. Don't be jealous or say cruel things about others. 2 Be like newborn babies who are thirsty for the pure spiritual milk that will help you grow and be saved.
3 t You have already found out how good the Lord really is.
4 Come to Jesus Christ. He is the living stone people have rejected, but which God has chosen and highly honored. 5 And now you are living stones being used to build a spiritual house. You are also a group of holy priests, and with the help of Jesus Christ you will offer sacrifices that please God.
6 t It is just as God says in the Scriptures,
“Look! I am placing in Zion
a choice and precious
cornerstone.
No one who has faith
in this one
will be disappointed.”
7 t You are followers of the Lord, and this stone is precious to you. But it isn't precious to those who refuse to follow him. They are the builders who tossed aside the stone that turned out to be the most important one of all.
8 t They disobeyed the message and stumbled and fell over this stone, because they were doomed.
9 t But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things he has done. The Scriptures say,
10 t “Once you were nobody.
Now you are God's people.
At one time no one
had mercy on you.
Now God has treated you
with kindness.”Live as God's Servants Should
11 Dear friends, you are foreigners and strangers on this earth. So I beg you not to surrender to those desires that fight against you.
12 Always let others see you behaving properly, even though they may still accuse you of doing wrong. Then on the day of judgment, they will honor God by telling the good things they saw you do.
13 The Lord wants you to obey all human authorities, especially the Emperor, who rules over everyone. 14 You must also obey governors, because they are sent by the Emperor to punish criminals and to praise good citizens. 15 God wants you to silence stupid and ignorant people by doing right. 16 You are free, but still you are God's servants, and you must not use your freedom as an excuse for doing wrong.
17 Respect everyone and show special love for God's people. Honor God and respect the Emperor.The Example of //Christ's Suffering
18 Servants, you must obey your masters and always show respect to them. Do this, not only to those who are kind and thoughtful, but also to those who are cruel. 19 God will bless you, even if others treat you unfairly for being loyal to him. 20 You don't gain anything by being punished for some wrong you have done. But God will bless you, if you have to suffer for doing something good.
21 After all, God chose you to suffer as you follow in the footsteps of Christ, who set an example by suffering for you.
22 t Christ did not sin
or ever tell a lie.
23 t Although he was abused,
he never tried to get even.
And when he suffered,
he made no threats.
Instead, he had faith in God,
who judges fairly.
24 t Christ carried the burden
of our sins.
He was nailed to the cross,
so we would stop sinning
and start living right.
By his cuts and bruises
you are healed.
25 You had wandered away
like sheep.
Now you have returned
to the one
who is your shepherd
and protector.
