Romper con una vida de pecado
1 Si Cristo padeció en su cuerpo, háganse a la idea de que también ustedes tienen que padecer, pues el que está sufriendo corporalmente se supone que ha roto con el pecado 2 para vivir el resto de su vida mortal conforme a la voluntad de Dios y no conforme a las pasiones humanas. 3 Porque bastante tiempo han pasado ustedes ya viviendo al estilo de los paganos, es decir, entregados al desenfreno y a la liviandad, a crápulas, orgías, borracheras y abominables cultos idolátricos.t 4 Ahora, ellos se extrañan y los insultan porque ustedes no se lanzan junto con ellos a ese torrente desbordado de lujuria. 5 Pero tendrán que rendir cuentas al que está preparado para juzgar a vivos y muertos.t
6 Por eso precisamente, también a los que ya murieron se les anunciót el mensaje de salvación, a fin de que, juzgados como mortales, obtengan de Dios la vida del espíritu.Administradores fieles
7 Se aproxima el final de todas las cosas. Sean, por tanto, juiciosos y sobrios, para que puedan dedicarse a la oración.t 8 Ante todo, ámense entrañablemente unos a otros, pues el amor alcanza el perdón de los pecados por muchos que sean.t 9 Practiquen de buen grado la hospitalidad mutua.t 10 Que todos, como buenos administradores de los múltiples dones de Dios, pongan al servicio de los demás el don que recibieron.t
11 El que habla, que comunique palabra de Dios; el que presta un serviciot, hágalo consciente de que es Dios quien le da las fuerzas. Así, en todo lo que hagan, Dios resultará glorificado por medio de Jesucristo, a quien pertenecen la gloria y el poder por siempre y para siempre. Amén.Compartiendo los sufrimientos de Cristo
12 Queridos, no les asombre como algo inesperado la tremenda pruebat desatada contra ustedes. 13 Alégrense, más bien, de compartir los sufrimientos de Cristo, para que el día de su gloriosa manifestaciónt también ustedes salten de júbilo.t 14 Dichosos si son ultrajados por seguir a Cristo; eso quiere decir que el Espíritu gloriosot de Dios alienta en ustedes. 15 Que ninguno de ustedes tenga que sufrir por asesino, ladrón, malhechor o entrometido. 16 Pero si es por ser cristianot, que no se avergüence, sino que alabe a Dios por llevar ese nombre.t 17 Porque ha llegado el tiempo del juicio, que ha de comenzar por el mismo pueblo de Dios. Y si comienza por nosotros, ¿qué pueden esperar los que se niegan a aceptar el evangelio de Dios?t 18 Pues si el bueno a duras penas se salva, ¿qué suerte correrán el impío y el pecador?t 19 Así que, incluso los que sufren en conformidad con la voluntad divina, deben confiarse a la fidelidad del Creador, sin dejar de hacer el bien.
1 Peter 4
1 So, since Christ suffereds in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,s2 in that he spends the rest of his timet on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.3 For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christianst desire.t You lived thent in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts,t and wanton idolatries.t4 Sot they are astonishedt when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.t5 They will face a reckoning beforet Jesus Christt who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Now it was for this very purposet that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead,s so that thought they were judged in the flesht by human standardst they may live spirituallyt by God’s standards.t
Service, Suffering, and Judgment
7 For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer.t8 Above all keept your love for one another fervent,t because love covers a multitude of sins.s9 Show hospitalityt to one another without complaining.10 Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one anothert as good stewards of the varied grace of God.
11 Whoever speaks, let it be witht God’s words.t Whoever serves, do so with the strengtht that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belongt the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
12 Dear friends, do not be astonishedt that a trial by fire is occurring among you,t as though something strange were happening to you.13 But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealedt you may also rejoice and be glad.t14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory,s who is the Spirit of God,trestss on you.15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker.t16 But if you suffer as a Christian,t do not be ashamed, but glorifyt God that you bear such a name.t17 For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the houset of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fatet of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?18 And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become oftthe ungodly and sinners?ts
19 So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good.t
