1 PEDRO 4
1 Por eso,t así como Cristo sufrió en su cuerpo, también vosotros debéis estar dispuestos a sufrir.t Pues el que ha sufrido en el cuerpot ha roto con el pecadot 2 para vivir el resto de su vida conforme a la voluntad de Dios y no conforme a los deseos humanos.t 3 Durante mucho tiempo hicisteis las mismas cosas que hacen los paganos, pues entonces vivíais en vicios, malos deseos, borracheras y orgías, bebiendo con exceso y adorando ídolos abominables.t 4 Ahora, como ya no los acompañáis en los excesos de su mala vida, se extrañan y hablan mal de vosotros. 5 Pero tendrán que rendir cuentas ante aquel que está preparado para juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos.t
6 Pues incluso a los muertos se les anunció la buena noticia,t para que pudieran vivir en el espíritu según Dios, aunque en este mundo hubieran sido juzgados en el cuerpo según los hombres.t3. El cristiano y el fin de los tiempos (4.7-19)
El servicio a los demás
7 Ya se acerca el fin de todas las cosas. Por eso, sed juiciosos y dedicaos seriamente a la oración. 8 Haya sobre todo mucho amor entre vosotros, porque el amor perdona muchos pecados.t 9 Recibíos unos a otros en vuestras casas, sin murmurar de nadie.t 10 Como buenos administradores de los diferentes dones de Dios, cada uno de vosotros sirva a los demás según el don que haya recibido.t
11 Si alguien habla, sean sus palabras como palabras de Dios. Si alguien presta un servicio, préstelo con las fuerzas que Dios le da. Todo lo que hagáis, hacedlo para que Dios sea alabado por medio de Jesucristo, a quien pertenecen la gloria y el poder para siempre. Amén.tParticipar de los sufrimientos de Cristo
12 Queridos hermanos, no os extrañéis de veros sometidos al fuego de la prueba, como si fuera algo extraordinario.t 13 Al contrario, alegraos de tener parte en los sufrimientos de Cristo, para que también os llenéis de alegría cuando su gloria se manifieste.t 14 Dichosos vosotros, si alguien os insulta por causa de Cristo,t porque el glorioso Espíritu de Dios está continuamente sobre vosotros. 15 Si alguno de vosotros sufre, que no sea por asesino, ladrón o criminal, ni por meterse en asuntos ajenos.
16 Pero si sufre por ser cristiano,t no debe avergonzarse, sino alabar a Dios por ello.
17 Ya ha llegado el tiempo en que el juicio ha de comenzar por la propia familia de Dios. Y si el juicio está comenzando así, por nosotros, ¿cómo será el fin de quienes no obedecen al mensaje de Dios? 18 Y si el justo con dificultad se salva, ¿qué pasará con el malvado y el pecador?t 19 De manera que los que sufren según la voluntad de Dios, deben seguir haciendo el bien y deben poner su almat en manos del Dios que los creó, pues él es fiel.
1 Peter 4
1 So, since Christ suffereds in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,s2 in that he spends the rest of his timet on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.3 For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christianst desire.t You lived thent in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts,t and wanton idolatries.t4 Sot they are astonishedt when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.t5 They will face a reckoning beforet Jesus Christt who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Now it was for this very purposet that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead,s so that thought they were judged in the flesht by human standardst they may live spirituallyt by God’s standards.t
Service, Suffering, and Judgment
7 For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer.t8 Above all keept your love for one another fervent,t because love covers a multitude of sins.s9 Show hospitalityt to one another without complaining.10 Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one anothert as good stewards of the varied grace of God.
11 Whoever speaks, let it be witht God’s words.t Whoever serves, do so with the strengtht that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belongt the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
12 Dear friends, do not be astonishedt that a trial by fire is occurring among you,t as though something strange were happening to you.13 But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealedt you may also rejoice and be glad.t14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory,s who is the Spirit of God,trestss on you.15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker.t16 But if you suffer as a Christian,t do not be ashamed, but glorifyt God that you bear such a name.t17 For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the houset of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fatet of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?18 And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become oftthe ungodly and sinners?ts
19 So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good.t
