EPISTOLA I DI S. PIETRO 4

Esortazione a novità di vita, sobrietà, vigilanza, preghiera, ed allegrezza nelle afflizioni

1 POI dunque che Cristo ha sofferto per noi in carnet, ancor voi armatevi del medesimo pensiero, che chi ha sofferto in carne, ha cessato dal peccatot; 2 per vivere il tempo che resta in carne, non più alle concupiscenze degli uominit, ma alla volontà di Diot. 3 Perciocchè il tempo passato della vita ci dev'esser bastato per avere operata la volontà de'~Gentili, essendo camminati in lascivie, cupidità, ebbrezze, conviti, bevimenti, e nefande idolatriet. 4 Laonde ora essi stupiscono, come di cosa strana, che voi non concorrete ad una medesima strabocchevol dissoluzione; e ne bestemmiano. 5 I quali renderanno ragione a colui che è presto a giudicare i vivi ed i mortit.

6 Poichè per questo è stato predicato l'evangelo ancora a'~mortit, acciocchè fossero giudicati in carne, secondo gli uomini; ma vivessero in ispirito, secondo Iddio.
7 Or la fine d'ogni cosa è vicinat; siate adunque temperatit, e vigilantit alle orazionit. 8 Avendo, innanzi ad ogni cosa, la carità intensa gli uni inverso gli altrit; perciocchè la carità coprirà moltitudine di peccatit.

9 Siate volonterosi albergatori gli uni degli altrit, senza mormoriit.
10 Secondo che ciascuno ha ricevuto alcun donot, amministratelo gli uni agli altri, come buoni dispensatorit della svariata grazia di Diot.

11 Se alcuno parla, parli come gli oracoli di Dio; se alcuno ministra, faccialo come per lo potere che Iddio fornisce; acciocchè in ogni cosa sia glorificato Iddiot per Gesù Cristo, a cui appartiene la gloria e l'imperio, ne'~secoli de'~secolit. Amen.
12 Diletti, non vi smarrite, come se vi avvenisse cosa strana, d'esser messi al cimento; il che si fa per provarvit.

13 Anzi, in quanto partecipate le sofferenze di Cristot, rallegratevit; acciocchè ancora nell'apparizione della sua gloria voi vi rallegriate giubilandot.
14 Se siete vituperati per lo nome di Cristo, beati voit; poichè lo Spirito di gloria e di Dio, riposa sopra voi; ben è egli, quant'è a loro, bestemmiato; ma, quant'è a voi, è glorificato. 15 Perciocchè, niun di voi patisca come micidiale, o ladro, o malfattore, o curante le cose che non gli appartengonot.

16 Ma, se patisce come Cristianot, non si vergogni; anzi glorifichi Iddio in questa partet.
17 Perciocchè, egli è il tempo che il giudicio cominci dalla casa di Diot; e se comincia prima da noi, qual sarà la fine di coloro che non ubbidiscono all'evangelo di Dio? 18 E se il giusto è appena salvato, dove comparirà l'empio e il peccatoret? 19 Perciò quelli ancora, che patiscono secondo la volontà di Dio, raccomandingli le anime lorot, come al fedele Creatore, con far bene.

1 Peter 4

1 So, since Christ suffereds in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,s2 in that he spends the rest of his timet on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.3 For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christianst desire.t You lived thent in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts,t and wanton idolatries.t4 Sot they are astonishedt when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.t5 They will face a reckoning beforet Jesus Christt who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

6 Now it was for this very purposet that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead,s so that thought they were judged in the flesht by human standardst they may live spirituallyt by God’s standards.t

Service, Suffering, and Judgment

7 For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer.t8 Above all keept your love for one another fervent,t because love covers a multitude of sins.s9 Show hospitalityt to one another without complaining.10 Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one anothert as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

11 Whoever speaks, let it be witht God’s words.t Whoever serves, do so with the strengtht that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belongt the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
12 Dear friends, do not be astonishedt that a trial by fire is occurring among you,t as though something strange were happening to you.13 But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealedt you may also rejoice and be glad.t14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory,s who is the Spirit of God,trestss on you.15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker.t16 But if you suffer as a Christian,t do not be ashamed, but glorifyt God that you bear such a name.t17 For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the houset of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fatet of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?18 And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become oftthe ungodly and sinners?ts

19 So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good.t
