1. Petrus 4

1 Da nun Christus für uns im Fleische gelitten hat, so waffnet auch ihr euch mit demselben Sinne; denn wer t im Fleische gelitten hat, ruht von der Sünde t2 um die im Fleische noch übrige Zeit nicht mehr den Lüsten der Menschen, sondern dem Willen Gottes zu leben.

3 Denn die vergangene Zeit ist uns genug, den Willen der Nationen vollbracht zu haben, indem wir wandelten in Ausschweifungen, Lüsten, Trunkenheit, Festgelagen, Trinkgelagen und frevelhaften Götzendienereien;
4 wobei es sie befremdet, daß ihr nicht mitlaufet zu demselben Treiben t der Ausschweifung, und lästern euch,5 welche dem Rechenschaft geben werden, der bereit ist, Lebendige und Tote zu richten.

6 Denn dazu ist auch den Toten gute Botschaft verkündigt worden, auf daß sie gerichtet werden möchten dem Menschen gemäß nach t dem Fleische, aber leben möchten Gott gemäß nach t dem Geiste.
7 Es ist aber nahe gekommen das Ende aller Dinge. Seid nun besonnen und seid nüchtern zum Gebet. t8 Vor allen Dingen aber habt untereinander eine inbrünstige Liebe, denn die Liebe bedeckt eine Menge von Sünden.9 Seid gastfrei gegeneinander ohne Murren;10 je nachdem ein jeder eine Gnadengabe empfangen hat, dienet einander damit als gute Verwalter der mancherlei Gnade Gottes.

11 Wenn jemand redet, so rede er als Aussprüche Gottes; wenn jemand dient, so sei es als aus der Kraft, die Gott darreicht, auf daß in allem Gott verherrlicht werde durch Jesum Christum, welchem die Herrlichkeit ist und die Macht von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit. t Amen.
12 Geliebte, laßt euch das Feuer der Verfolgung unter euch, das euch zur Versuchung t geschieht, nicht befremden, als begegne euch etwas Fremdes;13 sondern insoweit ihr der Leiden des Christus teilhaftig seid, freuet euch, auf daß ihr auch in der Offenbarung seiner Herrlichkeit mit Frohlocken euch freuet.14 Wenn ihr im Namen Christi geschmäht werdet, glückselig seid ihr! denn der Geist der Herrlichkeit und der Geist Gottes t ruht auf euch. Bei ihnen freilich wird er verlästert, bei euch aber wird er verherrlicht. 15 Daß doch niemand von euch leide als Mörder oder Dieb oder Übeltäter, oder als einer, der sich in fremde Sachen mischt;16 wenn aber als Christ, so schäme er sich nicht, sondern verherrliche Gott in diesem Namen.17 Denn die Zeit ist gekommen, daß das Gericht anfange bei t dem Hause Gottes; wenn aber zuerst bei t uns, was wird das Ende derer sein, die dem Evangelium Gottes nicht gehorchen! t18 Und wenn der Gerechte mit Not errettet wird, wo will der Gottlose und Sünder erscheinen?

19 Daher sollen auch die, welche nach dem Willen Gottes leiden, einem treuen Schöpfer ihre Seelen befehlen im Gutestun.

1 Peter 4

1 So, since Christ suffereds in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin,s2 in that he spends the rest of his timet on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.3 For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christianst desire.t You lived thent in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts,t and wanton idolatries.t4 Sot they are astonishedt when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.t5 They will face a reckoning beforet Jesus Christt who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

6 Now it was for this very purposet that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead,s so that thought they were judged in the flesht by human standardst they may live spirituallyt by God’s standards.t

Service, Suffering, and Judgment

7 For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer.t8 Above all keept your love for one another fervent,t because love covers a multitude of sins.s9 Show hospitalityt to one another without complaining.10 Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one anothert as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

11 Whoever speaks, let it be witht God’s words.t Whoever serves, do so with the strengtht that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belongt the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
12 Dear friends, do not be astonishedt that a trial by fire is occurring among you,t as though something strange were happening to you.13 But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealedt you may also rejoice and be glad.t14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory,s who is the Spirit of God,trestss on you.15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker.t16 But if you suffer as a Christian,t do not be ashamed, but glorifyt God that you bear such a name.t17 For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the houset of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fatet of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?18 And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become oftthe ungodly and sinners?ts

19 So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good.t
