1 Peter 4

第4章

1 このように、キリストは肉において苦しまれたのであるから、あなたがたも同じ覚悟で心の武装をしなさい。肉において苦しんだ人は、それによって罪からのがれたのである。2 それは、肉における残りの生涯を、もはや人間の欲情によらず、神の御旨によって過ごすためである。3 過ぎ去った時代には、あなたがたは、異邦人の好みにまかせて、好色、欲情、酔酒、宴楽、暴飲、気ままな偶像礼拝などにふけってきたが、もうそれで十分であろう。4 今はあなたがたが、そうした度を過ごした乱行に加わらないので、彼らは驚きあやしみ、かつ、ののしっている。5 彼らは、やがて生ける者と死ねる者とをさばくかたに、申し開きをしなくてはならない。6 死人にさえ福音が宣べ伝えられたのは、彼らは肉においては人間としてさばきを受けるが、霊においては神に従って生きるようになるためである。7 万物の終りが近づいている。だから、心を確かにし、身を慎んで、努めて祈りなさい。8 何よりもまず、互の愛を熱く保ちなさい。愛は多くの罪をおおうものである。9 不平を言わずに、互にもてなし合いなさい。10 あなたがたは、それぞれ賜物をいただいているのだから、神のさまざまな恵みの良き管理人として、それをお互のために役立てるべきである。11 語る者は、神の御言を語る者にふさわしく語り、奉仕する者は、神から賜わる力による者にふさわしく奉仕すべきである。それは、すべてのことにおいてイエス・キリストによって、神があがめられるためである。栄光と力とが世々限りなく、彼にあるように、アァメン。12 愛する者たちよ。あなたがたを試みるために降りかかって来る火のような試錬を、何か思いがけないことが起ったかのように驚きあやしむことなく、13 むしろ、キリストの苦しみにあずかればあずかるほど、喜ぶがよい。それは、キリストの栄光が現れる際に、よろこびにあふれるためである。14 キリストの名のためにそしられるなら、あなたがたはさいわいである。その時には、栄光の霊、神の霊が、あなたがたに宿るからである。15 あなたがたのうち、だれも、人殺し、盗人、悪を行う者、あるいは、他人に干渉する者として苦しみに会うことのないようにしなさい。16 しかし、クリスチャンとして苦しみを受けるのであれば、恥じることはない。かえって、この名によって神をあがめなさい。17 さばきが神の家から始められる時がきた。それが、わたしたちからまず始められるとしたら、神の福音に従わない人々の行く末は、どんなであろうか。18 また義人でさえ、かろうじて救われるのだとすれば、不信なる者や罪人は、どうなるであろうか。19 だから、神の御旨に従って苦しみを受ける人々は、善をおこない、そして、真実であられる創造者に、自分のたましいをゆだねるがよい。

1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;2 that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.3 For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:4 wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:5 who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.6 For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:8 above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:9 using hospitality one to another without murmuring:10 according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;11 if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:13 but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.14 If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.15 For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters:16 but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.17 For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?18 And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?19 Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.
