베드로전서 4

1 그리스도께서 육체의 고통을 겪으셨으니 여러분도 같은 마음가짐으로 무장 하십시오. 육체의 고통을 겪은 사람은 벌써 죄와 관계를 끊은 것입니다.

2 이제부터 여러분은 남은 생애를 인간적인 욕망을 위해 살지 말고 하나님의 뜻을 위해 사십시오.

3 여러분도 전에는 이방인들이 즐기던 방탕과 정욕과 술 취함과 진탕 마시고 흥청망청 떠드는 것과 우상 숭배에 빠져 살았지만 이제 다 지나간 일에 불과합니다.

4 그래서 그들은 방탕한 일에 여러분이 함께 어울리지 않는 것을 이상히 여겨 비난하고 있습니다.

5 그러나 그들은 산 사람과 죽은 사람을 심판하실 분에게 자기들이 행한 일을 낱낱이 고해 바쳐야 할 것입니다.

6 그래서 지금 죽어 있는 사람들에게도 기쁜 소식이 전파되었는데 이것은 그들이 육체로는 모든 사람처럼 심판을 받으나 영으로는 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살게 하려는 것입니다.

사랑은 많은 잘못을 덮는다

7 세상의 마지막이 가까웠으니 정신을 차리고 자제하여 기도하십시오.

8 무엇보다도 열심으로 서로 사랑하십시오. 사랑은 많은 죄를 덮어 줍니다.

9 불평하지 말고 서로 대접하십시오.

10 여러분이 각자 받은 은혜의 선물이 무엇이든간에 하나님의 여러 가지 은혜를 맡은 선한 관리인답게 서로를 섬기는 데 그것을 사용하십시오.

11 말씀을 전하는 사람은 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 것처럼 하고 봉사하는 사람은 하나님이 주시는 힘으로 하는 것처럼 하십시오. 그러면 모든 일에 예수 그리스도를 통해 하나님이 영광을 받으실 것입니다. 그분에게 영광과 능력이 길이길이 함께하기를 바랍니다. 아멘.

12 사랑하는 여러분, 여러분을 시험하려고 오는 불 같은 시련을 당할 때 마치 이상한 일이나 일어난 것처럼 놀라지 마십시오.

13 그 시련으로 여러분은 그리스도의 고난에 참여하게 되는 것이니 기뻐하십시오. 그러면 그리스도께서 영광 중에 나타나실 때 여러분도 그분과 함께 기뻐하게 될 것입니다.

14 여러분이 그리스도의 이름으로 모욕을 당한다면 행복한 사람들입니다. 이것은 영광의 영이신 하나님의 성령이 여러분에게 머물러 계시기 때문입니다.

15 여러분은 아무도 살인과 도둑질과 악행과 남을 간섭하는 일로 어려움을 당하지 않도록 하십시오.

16 그러나 여러분이 그리스도인이라는 이유로 고난을 받는다면 부끄러워하지 말고 오히려 그리스도인이라는 이름을 얻게 된 그것으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리십시오.

17 하나님의 집에서 심판을 시작할 때가 왔습니다. 심판이 우리에게서 먼저 시작된다면 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 않는 사람들의 마지막은 어떠하겠습니까?

18 의로운 사람도 구원을 받기가 이처럼 어렵다면 경건치 않은 사람과 죄인들에게는 얼마나 더 어렵겠습니까?

19 그러므로 하나님의 뜻에 따라 고난을 받는 사람은 계속 선한 일을 하면서 그 영혼을 신실하신 창조주 하나님께 맡겨야 할 것입니다.

1 Peter 4

1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;2 that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.3 For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:4 wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:5 who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.6 For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:8 above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:9 using hospitality one to another without murmuring:10 according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;11 if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:13 but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.14 If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.15 For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters:16 but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.17 For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?18 And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?19 Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.
