Buenos administradores de la gracia de Dios

1 Puesto que Cristo sufrió por nosotros en su cuerpo, también ustedes deben adoptar esa misma actitud, porque quien sufre en su cuerpo pone fin al pecado,2 para que el tiempo que le queda de vida en este mundo lo viva conforme a la voluntad de Dios y no conforme a los deseos humanos.3 Baste el tiempo pasado para haber hecho lo que agrada a los no creyentes, que viven entregados al libertinaje y las pasiones, a las borracheras, orgías, disipaciones y detestables idolatrías.4 Para ellos resulta extraño que ustedes ya no los acompañen en ese mismo desenfreno y libertinaje, y por eso los ultrajan;5 pero tendrán que dar cuenta de ello al que está preparado para juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos.6 Por esto también a los muertos se les predicó el evangelio, para que sean juzgados en su cuerpo según los criterios humanos, pero vivan en el espíritu según Dios.

7 El fin de todo se acerca. Por lo tanto, pórtense juiciosamente y no dejen de orar.8 Por sobre todas las cosas, ámense intensamente los unos a los otros, porque el amor cubre infinidad de pecados.t9 Bríndense mutuo hospedaje, pero no lo hagan a regañadientes.10 Ponga cada uno al servicio de los demás el don que haya recibido, y sea un buen administrador de la gracia de Dios en sus diferentes manifestaciones.11 Cuando hable alguno, hágalo ciñéndose a las palabras de Dios; cuando alguno sirva, hágalo según el poder que Dios le haya dado, para que Dios sea glorificado en todo por medio de Jesucristo, de quien son la gloria y el poder por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

La vida cristiana y el sufrimiento

12 Amados hermanos, no se sorprendan de la prueba de fuego a que se ven sometidos, como si les estuviera sucediendo algo extraño.13 Al contrario, alégrense de ser partícipes de los sufrimientos de Cristo, para que también se alegren grandemente cuando la gloria de Cristo se revele.14 ¡Bienaventurados ustedes, cuando sean insultados por causa del nombre de Cristo! ¡Sobre ustedes reposa el glorioso Espíritu de Dios!t15 Que ninguno de ustedes sufra por ser homicida, ladrón o malhechor, ni por meterse en asuntos ajenos.16 Pero tampoco tenga ninguno vergüenza si sufre por ser cristiano. Al contrario, glorifique a Dios por llevar ese nombre.17 Ya es tiempo de que el juicio comience por la casa de Dios; y si comienza primero por nosotros, ¿cómo será el fin de los que no obedecen al evangelio de Dios?

18 Además:«Si el justo con dificultad se salva,
¿En dónde quedarán el impío y el pecador?»t


19 Así que aquellos que sufren por cumplir la voluntad de Dios, encomienden su alma al fiel Creador, y hagan el bien.

1 PETER 4

Being Faithful to God

1 Christ suffered here on earth. Now you must be ready to suffer as he did, because suffering shows that you have stopped sinning. 2 It means you have turned from your own desires and want to obey God for the rest of your life. 3 You have already lived long enough like people who don't know God. You were immoral and followed your evil desires. You went around drinking and partying and carrying on. In fact, you even worshiped disgusting idols. 4 Now your former friends wonder why you have stopped running around with them, and they curse you for it. 5 But they will have to answer to God, who judges the living and the dead.

6 The good news has even been preached to the dead, t so that after they have been judged for what they have done in this life, their spirits will live with God.

7 Everything will soon come to an end. So be serious and be sensible enough to pray.

8  t Most important of all, you must sincerely love each other, because love wipes away many sins.

9 Welcome people into your home and don't grumble about it.
10 Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well.

11 If you have the gift of speaking, preach God's message. If you have the gift of helping others, do it with the strength that God supplies. Everything should be done in a way that will bring honor to God because of Jesus Christ, who is glorious and powerful forever. Amen.

Suffering for Being //a Christian

13 Be glad for the chance to suffer as Christ suffered. It will prepare you for even greater happiness when he makes his glorious return.
14 Count it a blessing when you suffer for being a Christian. This shows that God's glorious Spirit is with you. 15 But you deserve to suffer if you are a murderer, a thief, a crook, or a busybody. 16 Don't be ashamed to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God that you belong to him.

17 God has already begun judging his own people. And if his judgment begins with us, imagine how terrible it will be for those who refuse to obey his message. The Scriptures say,

18  t “If good people barely escape,
what will happen to sinners
and to others
who don't respect God?”
19 If you suffer for obeying God, you must have complete faith in your faithful Creator and keep on doing right.
