Prva Petrova poslanica 5
Upute starješinama i mladićima
1 Starješine među vama zaklinjem - ja koji sam također starješina te svjedok Kristovih patnji i sudionik slave koja će se objaviti kad on dođe:2 Pasite stado koje vam je Bog povjerio i nadzirite ga - ali ne prisilno, nego dragovoljno, po Božjoj volji; ne samo radi zarade, nego zbog oduševljenja što služite Bogu.3 Ne postupajte kao tirani, nego im služite kao uzor.
4 A kad dođe vrhovni Pastir, primit ćete vječni udjel u njegovoj slavi.
5 Mladići, pokoravajte se starješinama. Svi služite jedni drugima ponizno jer
"Bog se protivi oholima,
ali poniznima daruje milost".6 Ponizite se zato pred moćnom Božjom rukom pa će vas on uzvisiti kad za to dođe vrijeme.
7 Sve svoje brige povjerite njemu jer se on brine za vas.
8 Bdijte i čuvajte se! Vaš protivnik đavao obilazi kao ričući lav tražeći koga da proždre.
9 Oduprite mu se i budite čvrsti u vjeri. Znajte da vaša kršćanska braća diljem svijeta podnose jednake patnje.
10 Bog vas je, u svojoj milosti, pozvao na vječnu slavu u Kristu i on će vas, pošto malo pretrpite, usavršiti, učvrstiti, ojačati i utvrditi.
11 Njemu neka je vlast u vijeke vjekova. Amen.
Pavlovi posljednji pozdravi
12 Ovo sam vam pismo napisao s pomoću Sile, kojega smatram vjernim bratom, da vas ohrabrim i da vam posvjedočim da je sve, ma što se dogodilo, Božja milost.13 Pozdravljaju vas Crkva u Babilonu, izabrana skupa s vama u Gospodinu, te moj sin Marko.
14 Pozdravite jedni druge cjelovom ljubavi.

Leading and Living in God’s Flock
1 So as your fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings and as one who shares in the glory that will be revealed, I urge the elders among you:2 Give a shepherd’s care tot God’s flock among you, exercising oversights not merely as a dutyt but willingly under God’s direction,t not for shameful profit but eagerly.3 And do not lord it overt those entrusted to you,t but be examples to the flock.
4 Thent when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that never fades away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger,s be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.s6 And God will exalt you in due time,t if you humble yourselves under his mighty handt7 by castingts all your carest on him because he cares for you.8 Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion,s is on the prowl looking for someones to devour.9 Resist him,t strong in your faith, because you knowt that your brothers and sisterst throughout the worldt are enduringt the same kinds of suffering.t10 And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christs will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.t
11 To him belongst the power forever. Amen.
Final Greetings
12 Through Silvanus,s whom I know to be a faithful brother,t I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testifyt that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.t13 The churcht in Babylon,s chosen together with you,t greets you, and so does Mark, my son.
14 Greet one another with a loving kiss.t Peace to all of you who are in Christ.s
