1 Старцы иже в вас молю, яко старец сый и свидетель Христовым страстем, иже и хотящей славе явитися общник:2 пасите еже в вас стадо Божие, посещающе не нуждею, но волею и по Бозе, ниже неправедными прибытки, но усердно,3 ни яко обладающе причту, но образи бывайте стаду:4 и явльшуся пастыреначальнику, приимете неувядаемый славы венец.5 Такоже юнии, повинитеся старцем: вси же друг другу повинующеся, смиреномудрие стяжите, зане Бог гордым противится, смиренным же дает благодать.6 Смиритеся убо под крепкую руку Божию, да вы вознесет во время:7 всю печаль вашу возвергше нань, яко той печется о вас.8 Трезвитеся, бодрствуйте, зане супостат ваш диавол, яко лев рыкая, ходит, иский кого поглотити:9 емуже противитеся тверди верою, ведуще, яко теже страсти случаются вашему братству, еже в мире.10 Бог же всякия благодати, призвавый вас в вечную свою славу о Христе Иисусе, мало пострадавшыя, той да совершит вы, да утвердит, да укрепит, да оснует.11 Тому слава и держава во веки веков. Аминь.12 Силуаном вам верным братом, яко непщую, вмале написах, моля и засвидетельствуя сей быти истинней благодати Божией, в нейже стоите.13 Целует вы яже в вавилоне соизбранная, и марко сын мой.14 Целуйте друг друга лобзанием любве. Мир вам всем о Христе Иисусе. Аминь.

Leading and Living in God’s Flock

1 So as your fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings and as one who shares in the glory that will be revealed, I urge the elders among you:2 Give a shepherd’s care tot God’s flock among you, exercising oversights not merely as a dutyt but willingly under God’s direction,t not for shameful profit but eagerly.3 And do not lord it overt those entrusted to you,t but be examples to the flock.

4 Thent when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that never fades away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger,s be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.s6 And God will exalt you in due time,t if you humble yourselves under his mighty handt7 by castingts all your carest on him because he cares for you.8 Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion,s is on the prowl looking for someones to devour.9 Resist him,t strong in your faith, because you knowt that your brothers and sisterst throughout the worldt are enduringt the same kinds of suffering.t10 And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christs will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.t

11 To him belongst the power forever. Amen.

12 Through Silvanus,s whom I know to be a faithful brother,t I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testifyt that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.t13 The churcht in Babylon,s chosen together with you,t greets you, and so does Mark, my son.
