EPISTOLA I DI S. PIETRO 5

Doveri degli anziani e dei giovani; umiltà e vigilanza

1 IO esorto gli anziani d'infra voi, io che sono anziano con lorot, e testimonio delle sofferenze di Cristot, ed insieme ancora partecipe della gloria che dev'esser manifestatat, 2 che voi pasciate la greggia di Diot che è fra voi, avendone la cura, non isforzatamente, ma volontariamentet; non per disonesta cupidità del guadagnot, ma di animo franco. 3 E non come signoreggiando le ereditàt, ma essendo gli esempi della greggiat.

4 E, quando sarà apparito il sommo Pastore, voi otterrete la corona della gloria che non si appassat.
5 Parimente voi giovani, siate soggetti a'~più vecchi; e sottomettetevi tutti gli uni agli altrit; siate adorni d'umiltà; perciocchè Iddio resiste a'~superbit, e dà grazia agli umilit. 6 Umiliatevi adunque sotto alla potente mano di Dio, acciocchè egli v'innalzi, quando sarà il tempot;

7 gettando sopra lui tutta la vostra sollecitudinet; perciocchè egli ha cura di voi.
8 Siate sobri; vegliatet; perciocchè il vostro avversario, il diavolo, a guisa di leon ruggente, va attorno, cercando chi egli possa divoraret.

9 Al quale resistetet, essendo fermi nella fede; sapendo che le medesime sofferenze si compiono nella vostra fratellanzat, che è per lo mondo.

11 A lui sia la gloria, e l'imperio, ne'~secoli de'~secoli. Amen.

12 Per Silvanot, che vi è fedel fratello, come io lo giudico, io vi ho scritto brevemente; esortandovi, e protestandovi che la vera grazia di Dio è questa nella quale voi sietet.

13 La chiesa che è in Babilonia, eletta come voi, e Marcot, mio figliuolo, vi salutano.
14 Salutatevi gli uni gli altri col bacio della caritàt, Pace sia a voi tutti, che siete in Cristo Gesù. Amen.

Leading and Living in God’s Flock

1 So as your fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings and as one who shares in the glory that will be revealed, I urge the elders among you:2 Give a shepherd’s care tot God’s flock among you, exercising oversights not merely as a dutyt but willingly under God’s direction,t not for shameful profit but eagerly.3 And do not lord it overt those entrusted to you,t but be examples to the flock.

4 Thent when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that never fades away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger,s be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.s6 And God will exalt you in due time,t if you humble yourselves under his mighty handt7 by castingts all your carest on him because he cares for you.8 Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion,s is on the prowl looking for someones to devour.9 Resist him,t strong in your faith, because you knowt that your brothers and sisterst throughout the worldt are enduringt the same kinds of suffering.t10 And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christs will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.t

11 To him belongst the power forever. Amen.

12 Through Silvanus,s whom I know to be a faithful brother,t I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testifyt that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.t13 The churcht in Babylon,s chosen together with you,t greets you, and so does Mark, my son.
