第5章
1 そこで、あなたがたのうちの長老たちに勧める。わたしも、長老のひとりで、キリストの苦難についての証人であり、また、やがて現れようとする栄光にあずかる者である。2 あなたがたにゆだねられている神の羊の群れを牧しなさい。しいられてするのではなく、神に従って自ら進んでなし、恥ずべき利得のためではなく、本心から、それをしなさい。3 また、ゆだねられた者たちの上に権力をふるうことをしないで、むしろ、群れの模範となるべきである。4 そうすれば、大牧者が現れる時には、しぼむことのない栄光の冠を受けるであろう。5 同じように、若い人たちよ。長老たちに従いなさい。また、みな互に謙遜を身につけなさい。神は高ぶる者をしりぞけ、へりくだる者に恵みを賜うからである。6 だから、あなたがたは、神の力強い御手の下に、自らを低くしなさい。時が来れば神はあなたがたを高くして下さるであろう。7 神はあなたがたをかえりみていて下さるのであるから、自分の思いわずらいを、いっさい神にゆだねるがよい。8 身を慎み、目をさましていなさい。あなたがたの敵である悪魔が、ほえたけるししのように、食いつくすべきものを求めて歩き回っている。9 この悪魔にむかい、信仰にかたく立って、抵抗しなさい。あなたがたのよく知っているとおり、全世界にいるあなたがたの兄弟たちも、同じような苦しみの数々に会っているのである。10 あなたがたをキリストにある永遠の栄光に招き入れて下さったあふるる恵みの神は、しばらくの苦しみの後、あなたがたをいやし、強め、力づけ、不動のものとして下さるであろう。11 どうか、力が世々限りなく、神にあるように、アァメン。12 わたしは、忠実な兄弟として信頼しているシルワノの手によって、この短い手紙をあなたがたにおくり、勧めをし、また、これが神のまことの恵みであることをあかしした。この恵みのうちに、かたく立っていなさい。13 あなたがたと共に選ばれてバビロンにある教会、ならびに、わたしの子マルコから、あなたがたによろしく。14 愛の接吻をもって互にあいさつをかわしなさい。キリストにあるあなたがた一同に、平安があるように。
1 Peter 5
1 The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:2 Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to the will of God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;3 neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock.4 And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.5 Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;7 casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.8 Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,9 whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.10 And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you.11 To him be the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.12 By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I account him, I have written unto you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand ye fast therein.13 She that is in Babylon, elect together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Mark my son.14 Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all that are in Christ.
