مشایخ و جوانان

1 من که خود از مشایخ هستم و شاهد بر رنجهای مسیح و شریکِ جلالی که آشکار خواهد شد، مشایخ را در میان شما پند می‌دهم:2 گلۀ خدا را که به‌دست شما سپرده شده است شبانی و نظارت کنید، امّا نه به‌اجبار بلکه با میل و رغبت، آن‌گونه که خدا می‌خواهد؛ و نه برای منافع نامشروع بلکه با عشق و علاقه.3 نه آنکه بر کسانی که به‌دست شما سپرده شده‌اند سروری کنید، بلکه برای گله نمونه باشید،4 تا چون رئیس شبانان ظهور کند، تاج جلالِ غیرفانی را دریافت کنید.5 ای جوانان، شما نیز تسلیم مشایخ باشید. همگی در رفتارتان با یکدیگر فروتنی را بر کمر بندید، زیرا،
«خدا در برابر متکبران می‌ایستد،
امّا فروتنان را فیض می‌بخشد.»6 پس خویشتن را زیر دست نیرومند خدا فروتن سازید تا در زمان مناسب سرافرازتان سازد.7 همۀ نگرانیهای خود را به او بسپارید زیرا او به فکر شما هست.8 خویشتندار و مراقب باشید، زیرا دشمن شما ابلیس همچون شیری غرّان در گردش است و کسی را می‌جوید تا ببلعد.9 پس در ایمان راسخ باشید و در برابر او بایستید، زیرا آگاهید که برادران شما در دنیا با همین زحمات روبه‌رویند.10 پس از اندک زمانی زحمت، خدای همۀ فیضها که شما را به جلال ابدی خود در مسیح فراخوانده است، خودْ شما را احیا و استوار و نیرومند و پایدار خواهد ساخت.11 او را تا ابد توانایی باد. آمین.

12 به کمک سیلاسt که او را برادری امین می‌دانم، این چند خط را به‌اختصار به شما نوشتم تا تشویقتان کنم و شهادت دهم که همین است فیض حقیقی خدا. در آن استوار بمانید.13 خواهرt برگزیده با شما که در بابِل است، و پسر من مَرقُس، به شما درود می‌فرستند.

14 یکدیگر را با بوسۀ محبت‌آمیز سلام گویید.
بر همۀ شما که در مسیح هستید، آرامش باد.

Helping Christian Leaders

1 Church leaders, I am writing to encourage you. I too am a leader, as well as a witness to Christ's suffering, and I will share in his glory when it is shown to us.
2  t Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. 3 Don't be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them.

4 Then when Christ the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given a crown that will never lose its glory.

5  t All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say,
“God opposes proud people,
but he helps everyone
who is humble.”
6  t Be humble in the presence of God's mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes.

7 t God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.
8 Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. 9 But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are. 10 But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

11 God will be in control forever! Amen.
