Bătrâni și tineri

1 Așadar, eu, ca un bătrânt, martor al suferințelor lui Cristos și părtaș al slavei care urmează să fie descoperită, îi îndemn pe cei bătrâni dintre voi:2 păstoriți turma lui Dumnezeu, care este printre voi, supraveghind-o nu din obligație, ci de bunăvoie, așa cum vrea Dumnezeu, nu fiind lacomi de câștig, ci dornici să slujiți ,3 nu ca unii care stăpâniți peste cei ce v-au fost încredințați, ci fiind exemple pentru turmă.4 Iar când Se va arăta Marele Păstor veți primi o cunună glorioasă care nu se veștejește.

5 La fel și voi, tinerilor, fiți-le supuși celor bătrâni! Și toți îmbrăcați-vă cu smerenie unii față de alții, pentru că
„Dumnezeu este împotriva celor mândri,
dar celor smeriți El le dă har.“t

6 Smeriți-vă deci sub mâna tare a lui Dumnezeu pentru ca, la timpul potrivit, El să vă înalțe!7 Aruncați toată îngrijorarea voastră asupra Lui, fiindcă Lui Îi pasă de voi!

8 Fiți treji! Vegheați! Dușmanul vostru, diavolult, dă târcoale ca un leu care rage, căutând pe cineva să înghită.9 Împotriviți-vă lui fermi în credință, știind că frații voștri din toată lumea trec prin aceleași suferințe!10 După ce veți fi suferit pentru puțin timp, Dumnezeul oricărui har, Care v-a chemat la slava Lui veșnică, în Cristos, vă va echipa El Însuși, vă va întări, vă va da putere și vă va face de neclintit.11 A Lui să fie puterea, în veci! Amin.

12 V-am scris pe scurt aceste lucruri, prin Silvanust, pe care-l consider un frate credincios, pentru a vă încuraja și pentru a depune mărturie că acestat este adevăratul har al lui Dumnezeu. Rămâneți în el!13 Cea din Babilon,t aleasă împreună cu voi, vă salută și, de asemenea, și Marcu, fiul meu.14 Salutați-vă unii pe alții cu un sărut al dragostei. Pace vouă, tuturor celor care sunteți în Cristos.

Helping Christian Leaders

1 Church leaders, I am writing to encourage you. I too am a leader, as well as a witness to Christ's suffering, and I will share in his glory when it is shown to us.
2  t Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. 3 Don't be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them.

4 Then when Christ the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given a crown that will never lose its glory.

5  t All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say,
“God opposes proud people,
but he helps everyone
who is humble.”
6  t Be humble in the presence of God's mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes.

7 t God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.
8 Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. 9 But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are. 10 But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

11 God will be in control forever! Amen.
