Consejos para los líderes y los jóvenes

1  Y ahora, una palabra para ustedes los ancianos en las iglesias. También soy un anciano y testigo de los sufrimientos de Cristo. Y yo también voy a participar de su gloria cuando él sea revelado a todo el mundo. Como anciano igual que ustedes, les ruego: 2 cuiden del rebaño que Dios les ha encomendado. Háganlo con gusto, no de mala gana ni por el beneficio personal que puedan obtener de ello, sino porque están deseosos de servir a Dios. 3 No abusen de la autoridad que tienen sobre los que están a su cargo, sino guíenlos con su buen ejemplo. 4 Así, cuando venga el Gran Pastor, recibirán una corona de gloria y honor eternos.

5 Del mismo modo, ustedes hombres más jóvenes tienen que aceptar la autoridad de los ancianos. Y todos sírvanse unos a otros con humildad, porque
«Dios se opone a los orgullosos
pero muestra su favor a los humildes»t.

6 Así que humíllense ante el gran poder de Dios y, a su debido tiempo, él los levantará con honor. 7 Pongan todas sus preocupaciones y ansiedades en las manos de Dios, porque él cuida de ustedes.

8 ¡Estén alerta! Cuídense de su gran enemigo, el diablo, porque anda al acecho como un león rugiente, buscando a quién devorar. 9 Manténganse firmes contra él y sean fuertes en su fe. Recuerden que sus hermanos en Cristo,t en todo el mundo, también están pasando por el mismo sufrimiento.

10 En su bondad, Dios los llamó a ustedes a que participen de su gloria eterna por medio de Cristo Jesús. Entonces, después de que hayan sufrido un poco de tiempo, él los restaurará, los sostendrá, los fortalecerá y los afirmará sobre un fundamento sólido. 11 ¡A él sea todo el poder para siempre! Amén.

Helping Christian Leaders

1 Church leaders, I am writing to encourage you. I too am a leader, as well as a witness to Christ's suffering, and I will share in his glory when it is shown to us.
2  t Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. 3 Don't be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them.

4 Then when Christ the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given a crown that will never lose its glory.

5  t All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say,
“God opposes proud people,
but he helps everyone
who is humble.”
6  t Be humble in the presence of God's mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes.

7 t God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.
8 Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. 9 But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are. 10 But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

11 God will be in control forever! Amen.
