하나님의 양 떼를 돌보십시오

1 나는 여러분 가운데 장로로 있는 이들에게, 같은 장로로서, 또한 그리스도의 고난의 증인이요 앞으로 나타날 영광을 함께 누릴 사람으로서 권면합니다. 2 여러분 가운데 있는 하나님의 양 떼를 먹이십시오.t 억지로 할 것이 아니라, t하나님의 뜻을 따라 자진하여 하고, 더러운 이익을 탐하여 할 것이 아니라, 기쁜 마음으로 하십시오. 3 여러분은 여러분이 맡은 사람들을 지배하려고 하지 말고, 양 떼의 모범이 되십시오. 4 그러면 목자장이 나타나실 때에 변하지 않는 영광의 면류관을 얻을 것입니다. 5 젊은이 여러분, 이와 같이 여러분도 t나이가 많은 이들에게 복종하십시오. 모두가 서로서로 겸손의 옷을 입으십시오. t하나님께서는 교만한 자를 물리치시고, 겸손한 사람에게 은혜를 베푸십니다.

6 그러므로 여러분은 하나님의 능력의 손 아래로 자기를 낮추십시오. 때가 되면, 하나님께서 여러분을 높이실 것입니다. 7 여러분의 걱정을 모두 하나님께 맡기십시오. 하나님께서는 여러분을 돌보고 계십니다. 8 정신을 차리고, 깨어 있으십시오. 여러분의 원수 t악마가, 우는 사자 같이 삼킬 자를 찾아 두루 다닙니다. 9 믿음에 굳게 서서, t악마를 맞서 싸우십시오. 여러분도 아는 대로, 세상에 있는 여러분의 t형제자매들도 다 같은 고난을 겪고 있습니다. 10 모든 은혜를 주시는 하나님, 곧 그리스도 안에서 여러분을 자기의 영원한 영광에 불러들이신 분께서, 잠시동안 고난을 받은 여러분을 친히 온전하게 하시고, 굳게 세워 주시고, 강하게 하시고, 기초를 튼튼하게 하여 주실 것입니다. 11 권세가 영원히 하나님께 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.

Helping Christian Leaders

1 Church leaders, I am writing to encourage you. I too am a leader, as well as a witness to Christ's suffering, and I will share in his glory when it is shown to us.
2  t Just as shepherds watch over their sheep, you must watch over everyone God has placed in your care. Do it willingly in order to please God, and not simply because you think you must. Let it be something you want to do, instead of something you do merely to make money. 3 Don't be bossy to those people who are in your care, but set an example for them.

4 Then when Christ the Chief Shepherd returns, you will be given a crown that will never lose its glory.

5  t All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say,
“God opposes proud people,
but he helps everyone
who is humble.”
6  t Be humble in the presence of God's mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes.

7 t God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.
8 Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. 9 But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are. 10 But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

11 God will be in control forever! Amen.
