El rebaño de Dios

1 Tengo algo que decirles a sus ancianos líderest: Yo mismo soy un anciano, soy testigo de los sufrimientos de Cristo y compartiré la gloriat que nos será revelada.2 Les ruego que cuiden el rebañot de Dios que ha sido puesto bajo su responsabilidad, y no lo hagan por obligación, sino de buena voluntad, como Dios quiere. Háganlo con entusiasmo y no por ganar dinero.3 No sean crueles con los que están a su cargo. Más bien, sean un buen ejemplo para ellos.

4 Así, cuando venga nuestro gran Pastor, recibirán una corona gloriosa que nunca perderá su valor.

5 También tengo algo que decirles a los jóvenes: acepten la autoridad de los ancianos líderes. Vístanse todos ustedes de humildad y sírvanse unos a otros porque:
«Dios rechaza a los orgullosos,
pero es bueno con los humildes».t
6 Cuando Dios los corrija con su mano poderosa, acéptenlo con humildad. Después, cuando llegue la hora, él los exaltará.

7 Confíen a Dios todas sus preocupaciones, porque él cuida de ustedes.
8 Tengan dominio propio y manténganse alerta. Su enemigo el diablo anda por ahí como un león rugiente buscando a quién devorar.9 Resistan al diablo y mantengan firmemente la fe. Sepan que sus hermanos en todo el mundo sufren igual que ustedes,10 pero Dios, quien los llamó para compartir su gloria eterna en Cristo, les mostrará todo su generoso amort. Sufrirán por un tiempo, pero después Dios los sanará, los fortalecerá, los apoyará y evitará que caigan.11 Él tiene todo el poder para siempre. Así sea.t

Saludo final

12 Le llevará esta breve carta Silast, a quien considero un hermano fiel en Cristo. La escribí para darles ánimo y asegurarles que también la situación en que se encuentran ahora muestra en realidad el generoso amort de Dios. Manténganse fieles a ese generoso amor.
13 La iglesiat de Babiloniat los saluda. Ellos fueron elegidos tal como lo fueron ustedes. Marcos, mi hijo en Cristo, también les manda saludos.

14 Salúdense unos a otros con un beso de hermanos.

Serve God Willingly

1 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12 Through Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard him ), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, Mark.

14 Greet one another with a kiss of love.
