テサロニケ人への第一の手紙 4

四

1-2 愛する皆さん。　さらに付け加えます。　あなたがたは日々の生活で、どうしたら神様をお喜ばせできるかを、すでに知っているはずです。　そのために、私たちは主イエス様からの戒めを知らされたのですから。　そこでお願いします。　というより、これは主イエス様の命令と思ってほしいのですが。　どうか、この目標に向かって、さらに熱心に励んでください。　3-4 なぜなら、神様が望んでおられることは、あなたがたがきよくなることだからです。　つまり、あらゆる不品行の罪を避けて、きよらかな品位ある結婚生活を送ってほしいのです。　5 神様を知らず、そのお心も知らない異教徒のように、汚れた肉欲におぼれてはいけません。
6 また、他人の妻を横取りして、その人をあざむくようなことをしてはいけません。　前もって厳重に警告しておいたように、主はこれらについて、恐ろしい刑罰を下されるからです。　7 私たちが神様に召されたのは、汚れた思いや欲情のとりこになったりするためではなく、きよく清潔な生活を送るためです。　8 もし、これらの戒めに従うことを拒むなら、人間の規則に違反したというより、聖霊様を与えてくださった神様に、そむいたことになるのです。
9 ところで、クリスチャン同士の純粋な兄弟愛については、とやかく言う必要もない、と確信しています。　なぜなら、神様みずから、あなたがたに、互いに愛し合うことを教えてくださったからです。10 実に、あなたがたの愛は、国中のすべてのクリスチャンをおおうほど強いものだ、と聞いています。　そうであればこそ、心からお願いしたいのです。　ますます兄弟愛を深めなさい。　11 そして、以前にも教えたように、静かな生活を送り、仕事に身を入れ、喜んで働きなさい。　12 そうすれば、クリスチャンではない人たちからも信用され、尊敬されることでしょう。　また、お金の問題で人の世話にならなくなるでしょう。
13 それから、愛する皆さん。　クリスチャンが死んだらどうなるか、よく知っておいてほしいのです。　それは、悲しみのあまり取り乱して、何の希望もない人たちと同じようにならないためです。　14 私たちは、イエス様の死後の復活を、確かなことと信じています。　ですから、イエス様が帰って来られる時、すでに死んで世を去ったすべてのクリスチャンを、神様が共に連れ戻してくださると信じてよいのです。
15 私は、主から直接聞いたとおりを伝えるのですが、主が再び来られる時に、私たちが生きていたとしても、すでに墓の中にいる人たちをさしおいて主にお会いすることは、断じてありません。　16 主は、大号令と、天使長の声と、神の召集ラッパの響きと共に、天から下って来られます。　その時、まず最初に復活して主にお会いできるのは、すでにこの世を去っているクリスチャンです。　17 それから、なお生きて地上に残っている私たちが、いっしょに雲に包まれて、空中で主とお会いするのです。　そして、いつまでも主と共に過ごすことになります。　18 ですから、このことをわきまえて、互いに慰め合い、励まし合いなさい。

1 Thessalonians 4

1 Finally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk, --that ye abound more and more.2 For ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;4 that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;6 that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.8 Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.9 But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;10 for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;11 and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;12 that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.13 But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;17 then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
