’n Christen moet rein lewe en hy moet lief wees vir ander Christene

1 Vriende, daar is nog ’n paar dinge waaroor ons met julle wil praat. Die Here Jesus sê ons moet vir julle iets vra wat baie belangrik is. Ons het vir julle geleer hoe julle moet lewe sodat God tevrede sal wees met julle. Ons weet julle doen dit al klaar, maar ons wil vra dat julle dit nog beter moet doen. 2 Julle weet wat ons alles vir julle gesê het om te doen. Dit is dinge wat die Here Jesus vir ons gesê het. 3 God wil hê julle moet lewe soos mense wat aan Hom behoort. Julle moenie julle liggame gebruik om tonsedelik te lewe nie. 4 God wil hê elke man moet weet dat hy saam met sy vrou moet lewe soos God wil hê, en elke man moet sy vrou respekteer. 5 Julle moenie doen soos die theidene wat nie vir God ken nie. Daardie mans gebruik hulle vroue net vir seks. 6 God wil ook hê tgelowiges moenie sonde doen teen mekaar nie. Die een man moenie ’n ander man se vrou wil hê en haar vir homself vat nie. Die Here sal hierdie soort sonde straf. Ons het dit voorheen vir julle gesê en ons het julle ernstig gewaarsku. 7 God het ons gekies om aan Hom te behoort, daarom moet ons lewe soos Hy wil hê, ons moenie onsedelik lewe nie.

8 Daarom, iemand wat nie luister na wat ons vir julle leer nie, is ongehoorsaam aan God wat sy Heilige Gees vir julle gee, hy is nie ongehoorsaam aan mense nie.
9 Dit is nie nodig dat óns vir julle skryf dat julle lief moet wees vir mekaar nie, want God self het vir julle geleer dat julle lief moet wees vir mekaar. 10 Ons weet julle is lief vir al die gelowiges in die hele provinsie Masedonië. Maar, vriende, ons vra weer baie mooi, julle moet dit nog beter doen. 11 Julle moet ook probeer om stil en rustig te lewe. Julle moenie nuuskierig wees oor ander mense nie. En julle moet self hard werk, soos ons gesê het julle moet doen.

12 Dan sal die mense buite die gemeente, die mense wat nie in Christus glo nie, julle respekteer. En julle sal ook alles kry wat julle nodig het.

Wat sal gebeur wanneer die Here weer kom

14 Ons glo dat Jesus gesterf het en weer begin lewe het. Ons moet ook glo dat God die gelowiges wat gesterf het, na Jesus toe sal bring.
15 Wat ons nou vir julle sê, het die Here Jesus vir ons gesê. Wanneer die Here Jesus weer kom, dan sal dit nie met ons wat nog lewe, beter gaan as met die mense wat klaar gesterf het nie. 16 Wanneer die Here Jesus kom, dan sal Hy hard roep en sê wat moet gebeur. ’n tGroot engel sal hard roep, en die ttrompet van God sal blaas. Die Here Jesus self sal uit die hemel kom, en die mense wat gesterf het en wat in Christus glo, sal eerste weer lewe.

17 Daarna sal God ons wegvat, ons wat nog lewe en wat oorgebly het op die aarde. Hy sal ons en die mense wat gesterf het en wat weer lewe, saam wegneem tot in die wolke. Dan sal ons die Here Jesus in die lug ontmoet, en so sal ons altyd by die Here Jesus wees.
18 Julle moet hierdie dinge vir mekaar sê, sodat julle nie huil en treur nie.

Living in a Way That Pleases God

1 Finally, brothers and sisters, we taught you how to live in a way that pleases God. In fact, that is how you are living. In the name of the Lord Jesus we ask and beg you to do it more and more.
2 You know the directions we gave you. They were given by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3 God wants you to be made holy. He wants you to stay away from sexual sins.4 He wants all of you to learn to control your own bodies. You must live in a way that is holy. You must live with honor.5 Don't long to commit sexual sins like those who don't know God.6 None of you should sin against your brother by doing that. You should not take advantage of him. The Lord will punish everyone who commits those kinds of sins. We have already told you and warned you about that.7 God chose us to live pure lives. He wants us to be holy.
8 So if you refuse to accept my teaching, you turn your back on God, not on people. God gives you his Holy Spirit.
9 We don't need to write to you about love among believers. God himself has taught you to love each other.10 In fact, you do love all the brothers and sisters all around Macedonia. But we are asking you to love each other more and more.
11 Do everything you can to live a quiet life. Mind your own business. Work with your hands, just as we told you to.12 Then unbelievers will have respect for your everyday life. And you won't have to depend on anyone.

The Lord Is Coming

13 Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don't want you to be sad, as other people are. They don't have any hope.
14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again. When he returns, many who believe in him will have died already. We believe that God will bring them back with Jesus.
15 That agrees with what the Lord has said. When the Lord comes, many of us will still be alive. We tell you that we will certainly not go up before those who have died.
16 The Lord himself will come down from heaven. We will hear a loud command. We will hear the voice of the leader of the angels. We will hear a blast from God's trumpet. Many who believe in Christ will have died already. They will rise first.17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them. We will be taken up in the clouds. We will meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with him forever.
18 So cheer each other up with these words of comfort.
